  • In this adventure, I am fishing the Guadalupe River fishing for the Texas Rainbow Trout. Texas Rainbow Trout fishing is one of the most challenging forms of fishing in the Lone Star State has to offer and one of the most exciting as well. Even though rainbow trout are not native to Texas, the Guadalupe River attracts anglers from all around the state.
The small rainbow trout are the state-stocked rainbow trout while the bigger ones are the trout stocked by the Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited. If you enjoy fishing for Texas Rainbow Trout, please consider donating to Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited (GRTU), practicing catch and release, removing the barb off of your hooks, and using single hooks to preserve this amazing and unique fishery.

Great vid. The spot at 5:30 a couple weeks back there was an albino trout or palomino. He bit but got off. It was like “fool me once…shame on you. Fool me twice…shame on me” lol and he never fell for it again. We caught other rainbows near that trout but that fish was smart as hell ha. Changed it up and nothing worked. Like he was saying “sorry big guy maybe next time” lol 😂 I need to get back out. Thanks for posting. Love the Guad.

The palomino trout are the smartest fish in the river and I have yet to catch one. I like them because I know fish is in the area but I don't because I can never catch them.

Hey man, nice video ! I am new here to Texas from montana! I fly fished the Guadalupe River right out of the canyon lake dam and didn’t have any luck before we got stormed out. Do you have any tips for a fellow angler ?

These fish see a ton of flies with the amount of pressure. You would have to do something unique to catch their attention or match the hatch when it occurs.

Are you part of the LAP with the GRTU? I am going to try and get a permit next year.

It's a great program to be in. I recommend it if you fish the Guadalupe multiple times a year. If not, it makes more sense just to pay and park.

It was caught in the upper section of the Guadalupe River.
