I didn't realize that TPWD stocks the bays. 25 years ago my father said the gulf was over fished.
It was , however hatchery stocking brought us back from the brink of disaster TPWD is doing a great job.!

Grant funds, from the Sport Fish Restoration Program, are disbursed to States for approved grants up to 75% of the project costs. So where does the remainder come from? Is there local fundraising needed for areas designated as Non-insular? Are these funds combined with or separate from the Aquatic Resource Education Program? Have any of the Game Wardens ever sought to take up these Educational Programs as part of 'Conservation Awareness' Outreach Coordination with surrounding Sr. High Schools? This could be a good area for SRO's and Game Wardens to recommend to Counties for At-risk or Troubled Youth! Couldn't a Game Warden recommend, or request, a County Judge to approve a Community Services, in lieu of qualifying Civil Judgments, for these Sport-Fish Restoration Areas? Over-fishing is only part of the problem. There's also pollution and habitat distruction.
I'm going to college to get a degree in aquaculture not only does it pay well it also helps the environment and I hope I get a job in Texas because they pay more than any other States
