Very good work that TP&W is doing to help out our beloved "flatties". I have several spots in West Galveston Bay and the adjoining Bayous that hold them. There is nothing better as far as table fare and the thrill of seeing that outline before hitting them with the gig is the best! Remember if gigging them to keep your feet on the bottom in a shuffling gait so that you don't accidently step on a stingray and ruin your trip!!

Man, that gigging is a game of patience and persistence - but holy cow - they are GOOD EATING! Yummy.

Texas coast flounder habitat is actually great right now. You can easily catch flounder all year round if you understand the migration patterns. Caught a limit today up to 19.5"...and in all this "freshwater."

I don't like gigging. Get to keep too many flounder. Nov./Dec.should both be no gigging months. Want more flounder all year long here. Miss flounder fishing in Maryland, they have two large runs of flounder in spring and fall plus all year catching of them is not that hard.Still trying here.

They look so much like their northern relative the summer flounder.

Gotta miss the 1970's where anyone could catch 10+ keepers on any given day.

I had a rancher tell me that he was losing a lot of his new borns to Russian Vultures. I thought he was lying at first but when he showed me pictures of the birds eating the calvs eye out right after it was born I believed him. He believes the Russian Vultures came to Texas from Africa with a Hurricane that developed off the African coast. I am curious if this is what is happening to the Prong Horns as well. A turkey Vulture won't attack live young, but the Russian Vultures maimes them.
