As someone who’s 46 years of age this gent speaks so much sense. I grew up with adults who pretty much knew how to make anything and I have spent my life striving to understand what those before me did.. When it was time to leave school it was the decision between university and an apprenticeship. I chose the latter and I have seen about every useful technology known to man in 30 years of working. I really admire this man because the UK over the last 50 years has turned its back on manufacturing. If it would only consider more manufacturing it could be a truly great place again. It would be nice to see people shine.
Utterly brilliant, as a northerner born and bred, we always had it drilled into us “ use your common sense “. Something Universities are completely void of and never teach it.
This man just repeats almost word for word what I've gone on about for years Appropriateness of education Attitude Learning in practice Learning online Value of work that's useful, doing things with your hands
A friend at schools dad back in the 70s (Bournemouth )used to acquire washing machines fix them and sell them on His name was John Elliot too -a memorable kind character l wonder if this John is a relative ? who knows ! Anyway this John talking to Nigel makes a lot of sense and his unassuming / matter of fact manner belies the amount of graft he has obviously put in Love these success stories Cheers Nigel 🍻🍺
The Government should bring back Government Training Centres/Skillcentres, they can give people a good grounding in a lot of different skills and trades, why they were ever closed down escapes me.
Bought an Ebac washing machine and can highly recommend them!👍 Glad we have business owners like John. He talks a lot of sense.👍 We used to have big companies like GEC and Thorn-EMI that made our domestic goods until we got rid of them🙄🤦♂️
John is right. Our education system is not fit for purpose and is sometimes force fed to uninspired children. With our modern technology, we should be moving away from teacher focused classes and move towards a student focused learning system or find somewhere in the middle.
You see! I knew it. We would import from you once Brexit was ennacted. You will send to us on many fronts. Other hand, we ought to manufacture washers and dryers again too.
Excellent what a great man, he's so right about the education system.

Honestly Nige brings in the best guests - people who should be at the very heart of national conversation. We need more of Talking Pints - a lot more!

This segment is the best current affairs segment on TV.
A very modest man - his success was not just down to luck - John Elliot is a highly intelligent man !

I relate to this guy education isn't efficient.
Didn't realise ebac was in a trust to stop it being sold. We need more bosses that value their company and legacy.
