    I'm not sure if it's been pointed out, but for anyone still trying to figure out how to use HK's paddle magazine release, the correct way is actually with your middle finger, and not your thumb.
    The idea is that with a button release, you have to adjust your hand - but with the paddles, once you go to reload (and your trigger finger is obviously out of the trigger guard) your middle finger is easily able to activate the magazine release without moving/adjusting your hand.
    The motion may feel awkward at first, not being used to it, but I promise that after the first day of trying it a few times, it becomes simple muscle memory and its advantages clearly show. Hope this helped someone out!

      I am blessed amd cursed to have weird thumbs that are very long, i can hit that mag release with the inside of the middle knuckle of my thumb witg zero issue. The downside is 1911s feel like a broomstick in my hand

    I know it's an old video but couple things for anyone watching, HK has always contended the lower capacity is to maintain reliability of the gun, but you can get extended baseplates if you want. also LEM module is regarded as the best trigger in most HK circles, once you learn how to use it it's basically the most ideal duty trigger

    If you cant shoot this firearm then you should probably not be shooting. H&K is probably one of the best made handguns out there. They are a bit expensive, but they shoot amazing.

    It is most impressive pistol on my experience but I had never had it one.
    I tried it with other's H.K USP 40 SW Caliber.
    It was so easy to make Dime of Penny size at 7 yard with 2 shot.
    It was my first time shot with H.K USP.
    Without any hesitation,I recommend this pistol.It is the best choice for the beginner and the experts.

    In the german army, we use the younger sister of the USP, the P8, 9mm. It's basically the same gun, with some changes to add an actual safety, and some minor design details, for example a size reduction for some appendages, to fit with our equipment. I really love shooting the P8 and so far it never even failed me once.

    • @Mrgunsngear
      @Mrgunsngear  8 лет назад +4

      +TheSchuetzeP good info; thanks

    • @sedor2733
      @sedor2733 8 лет назад +1

      +TheSchuetzeP The standard USPs have safeties too, they just put them on the right way. You sweep down instead of up, which is much more natural.

    • @TheSchuetzeP
      @TheSchuetzeP 8 лет назад

      sedor2733
      There is no "right way" to have a safety The P8 has the safety on the downward position of the lever which disallows you to pull the trigger and the decock of the hammer comes when pulling the lever down past the safety. The upward position is the firing position just like here. I'v only seen versions of the USP live so far without an actual safety. So I don't really know what you mean with having the safety flicking upwards. The USPs I know and the P8 both have there safety downwards.

    • @sedor2733
      @sedor2733 8 лет назад +1

      The USP safety is better because up is safe, and down is fire. That is more natural and less prone to accidents. Thats why it is the right way, and the other way is the wrong way due to its ability to get someone killed.

    • @TheSchuetzeP
      @TheSchuetzeP 8 лет назад +1

      sedor2733 I don't understand why you think it is more natural. If you decock the hammer on the P8, and you let go of the lever, it automatically flips up into the "safe" position. If you push it further up, you can fire. Since you only holster your gun in a decocked state, and the trigger weight of the P8 is about 3.5kg, in combat, or in a dangerous situation, you actually have the gun on "Fire" while it's in your holster, because it is literally impossible to pull the trigger inside the holster. I mean, the P8 is my service gun, I know every part of her by heart and have shot and carried her countless times, and there is nothing unsafe about the safety being in the lower position on the lever.

They were designed for extreme use and to last around 30,000 rounds or something crazy like that. They're barrels are expensive and it's the details which make these guns a bit more pricey I'm which most people won't ever appreciate.

    To me, this is one of the most beautiful 9mm handguns H&K has ever made. I bought one new in 1995, when everyone was raving about the Sig. I didn't care about the hype, nor did I feel like shelling out an additional $200 for a gun that was essentially, very similar. I'm very happy with my purchase, and was way more reliable than my Para Ordnance. I still treasure it. It's only been taken to the range maybe 3 or 4 times, and it still looks like it was made yesterday.

    I read a lot of comments like my brand gun is better than this gun or that gun etc. etc. A lot of people don't realize that HK and Glock are the only two premiere gun makers that makes their own magazines. Other gun companies like Sig, Beretta, CZ, Taurus, Walther, Fnh, Springfield etc. Use a quality Italian company, (Mec-Gar). In my experience Glock and HK are the only two where I have not experienced stovepipe, failure to eject issues like I have with other guns. People can argue about which gun is better, but those same people need to realize that Mec Gar magazines are not the same quality as the Glock and HK mags. What good is your gun if the magazine does not feed it? Answer----> get a Glock or an HK. Thanks for the video brother

    It really depends on the gun. If you look at XDs vs Glocks for instance, the XD is "more" cocked (not the proper terms at all I know) compared to the Glocks.
    Striker pistols are no safer nor less safe than DA guns. Both, assuming modern designs (Sig, Glock, ect..), employ some type of blocking mechanism in between the firing pin and the primer that must be disabled by pulling the trigger.

  • @Lex5576
    @Lex5576 11 лет назад +1

    My USP's my all time favorite. May be old, but still damn good. I've got the Version 1. I'm just plain spoiled on the easy shooting and low recoil. It's aging ergonomics still fit my hand the best of any pistol I've ever had. I almost never take the XD to the range anymore.

  • @Mrgunsngear
    @Mrgunsngear  11 лет назад

    I have a P30L. I'm not a fan of the LEM trigger however... I still like the USP despite the issues I pointed out. I haven't found a gun without negatives yet, but I'm always looking!

  • @Mrgunsngear
    @Mrgunsngear  11 лет назад

    The perceived recoil is pretty similar but the muzzle flip is greater on the HK due to the higher bore axis. Glock is a striker fired gun though; not single action. The HK above is DA/SA (variant 3 trigger).

    Well, SEALs fall under Special Operations Command, and as such, they have a lot of flexibility in what gun they use. The standard is the MK25 (Sig) but the MK23 was a 45ACP gun that some Special Operations troops used and may still.

    I’m glad you address the concept of a gun’s size in relationship to its capacity, that’s something I weigh very heavily when buying most of my guns. I agree that the capacity to size ratio in the 9mm and 40 USPs are pretty “meh”. But for some reason the USP 45 is only 1 round short of the glock 21 in terms of capacity (12 rounds instead of 13), so the 2 guns have very similar capacity to size ratios.

Glad to say I'm wrong about the 40 and that I decided to set aside my love for all metal aside for something so well made like HK. Traded all my Glocks straight across for ho USP compact, p30sk and few others, lost a few SIG and Berettas and 1911 but ....don't miss em!

    Love the content! Have a question off topic of this but thought I would
    try. I have a H&K USP 9mm v1 and having a difficult time finding a
    holstered setup level 2/positive lock that would allow me to put a
    light/laser on it. Any suggestions on the laserlight/holster combo? I
    would like a duty level setup and not price sensitive.

    I brought a one exactly like this but mine didn't come with the same sights mine came with just all black sight and they are a bit higher they didn't have any dots on the front sight so I just put one with pink paint where it should be. Great gun defiantly one of my favs

    Why would I be afraid? I don't work for HK.... I have a bunch of SIGs; a few videos on here of a couple in fact.

    If I was getting an older one I'd get the USP. Newer SIGs have better capacity and a better trigger. That said, if you were comparing a MK25 to a P30L then I wouldn't know what to tell you...

    At least for the P8 variant used in the German forces, the rail is a complete non-issue. No average soldier needs attachments on a backup sidearm. Those who do in more specialised units have access to other models.

    I have a first year (civilian) production USP with the traditional rifled barrel. Nice gun, crappy trigger. However, H&K has changed the internals over the years so putting in a new match trigger means you change most of the internals of the gun.

    I found one for 600 Swiss francs with a LEM trigger a year ago... It's seen SO many rounds without cleaning or lubing and this thing just shoots and shoots and shoots. And the more I shoot it, the more I want to sell anything that isn't H&K or CZ in my house...

    I was wandering about your watch. Is it the suunto core watch by any chance? I was considering buying one, too. Itlooked quite sturdy but still functional and somewhat nice to wear with a suit aswell

    Do you ever have any problems with the magazine spring binding Up?, it seem when I load critical defense into them I always have to reload a few times in order for all 15 rounds to seat properly. I do not have the same problem with 124 grain FMJ rounds, any ideas?

    I just got one of these (the variant 1 though, because you can carry it cocked and locked) and honestly, I'm not really sure what to say about the gun. I really want to like this gun, but not super impressed with it so far especially considering how expensive it is.
    I seem to be having a really hard time not short-stroking the trigger when going from DA on the first shot to SA after--the reset doesn't seem all that long or anything (about the same as a Beretta 92 or at least a standard SIG), but the reset seems to take forever and is annoyingly hard to predict, either firing rapidly or slowly. It is a brand new gun, so maybe the trigger will break in somewhat with use?
    Anyway, great review as always, thanks.

      micky mcfarts if you don't mind paying a little extra then this. I own an M&P9 and it's an average gun. Same with glock and any striker fire. I shot a USP 9mm it's my favorite polymer framed 9 for sure. But I think Sig has it beat with the 226. That is my absolute favorite 9mm.
