In Germany we can only carry gas pistols or gas revolvers (with a little weapon licence/ kleiner Waffenschein vorausgesetzt) with cs or pepperbullets for self defence. 🤷‍♂️

      @@spaniardsrk5108 They are pretty chunky. I'm 5'-8" and it's about as big as I can hold reasonably (I didn't say comfortably). The USP45 is a little bigger and is too big from my hand. The grip kept me from buying one for years...It's like holding onto a 2x4. However, I wanted one based on their reputation, so I got one despite myself, and found it was worth it. I'd say pick one up at the store and see how it fits. It won't be as comfortable as most modern pistols, but shooting it makes it worth it and you can take comfort that it's a tank that'll always go bang.

    I bought the USP. 45 in 2007. It's an awesome pistol. I'd trust it as if my life depended on it. Never failed yet. It runs and feeds any and all kinds of ammo. Mix and match, it doesn't matter. Hot loads or range loads.

    Great video! As an HK nut I have to add a couple things. The USP and Mk23 were developed together. The USP never participated in the OHWS trials. That was strictly the Mk23. The first couple years of USP had land an groove barrels. In about 1995-1996 they went to polygonal. I have a 94 USP 40 with land and groove. The German model is called the P8, the successor to the P7 as you mentioned. The build quality and reliability of the USP is simply unmatched.

    Good to see a fresh review of the USP - it's still just as relevant, and arguably still a lot better, than many other options out there. I've owned and shot quite a few DA/SA pistols, but my USP Compact has risen to the top of the list.

      I'm getting my license next month and I was deciding between the usp 9mm compact vs regular, I like the compact a lot but this is just going to be for the range, there's no way to get a concealed carry where I live. Should I opt for the regular size or go with the compact, I like a smaller pistol but the larger size might be easier to shoot.

    • @kyrozudesoya1829
      @kyrozudesoya1829 2 года назад +2

      @@radujko Honestly if you're worried about being concealed that's what you should focus on. You can get things like Talon Grips to help improve your grip on the pistol, so a smaller grip being harder to shoot will be mitigated. I usually carry a shoulder holster for my pistols, so depending on how you dress that might be an option.

    All my USP pistols are the lite LEM variant... Actually all my HK pistols are lite LEM... The USP is probably the most durable, reliable pistol made today, besides the Mark23... I fully trust my life to any of my HK pistols, particularly the USP... A lot of people hate on the .40 cal, but I have to say that my USP .40 has about the same recoil as my 9mm USP... I would be happy to have a USP in any caliber if I had to go into any hostile environment...

      Agreed. Love my HKs. I grew up shooting whatever gun I wanted so it was weird when my options were limited after I moved to California to attend USC and could finally conceal carry a few years later. Thankfully the HK USP and P2000 are legal here. My uncle has been carrying the HK USP since the 90s and he gave me his HK P2000 SK to carry (if I'm not using a smaller Kahr PM9). I live in the Bay Area for work now and I'm thankful we can have such great guns from HK here. Hk's build quality for the USP is impeccable, it's reliable, the trigger is wonderful, and it's so fun to shoot. I would probably get one myself if the California legal version didn't cost so much (and I also love the polymer HK P2000 sk).

    In the Recoil Spring Assembly function, The shorter (heavier) spring is only compressed once the longer (lighter) spring is mostly compressed and the lug on the bottom front of the slide hits the shoulder on the spring rod, thereby compressing the shorter spring and only then does the locking block portion of the rod move rearward on the cross pin (takedown pin).

    I have an H&K USP in .40 and it is a full-size pistol, only fired around 150 rounds since purchase in 1995. I took it to a gun store to get a feel of what they'd give for it, they offered me 300.00. So many comedians out of work. I wouldn't let it go for a thousand.

    Nice review and congratulation on the purchase. Bought my USP45 in 1996. Eventually, I added the HK 'Match Trigger' upgrade --- Made it even better! Worth the money imho. Also have a Streamlight TLR3 with the USP adapter plate (more compact than a picatinny rail adapter). My only complaint is the high cost of HK magazines (but I've got enough over the years).

    I carried one as a duty weapon in .40, but it had a stainless slide and a DAO trigger. I didn't care for the trigger at all so I sold after about a year. Other than the trigger, I was happy with the pistol. I later went with a P2000 in .40, and that was probably my favorite of all of my 9 duty weapons.

    HK have another awesome USP variant, the Custom Sport model, with match barrel, jet funell, 18rds translucent magazines ,fantastic match trigger kit and lpa competition sights .Unfortunately i think it was not sold in the USA (i have bought mine in Spain). I have it in 9 and 45 and both are the best hammered pistols that i have.
    Another feature oF USPs is that the slide can be put rear, for safety uncharge, with safety padle on !

    Mine has the LEM trigger and the Jet Funnel mag well. I can only use the Jet Funnel mags (18 round). The LEM trigger is the best feeling trigger of all the pistols I own. For a polymer pistol, it’s a tank! If I could own only one pistol this would be it!

    I have a HK USP 9 COMPACT. I love it. I love everything about it. It just feels so smooth in action. There is only one knock and that is it feels really bulky. But it IS a combat handgun and not a police service pistol, so it has to be rugged and durable and I am fine with that.
