This episode deals with some of the many problems faced by Hungarian refugees as they started to build new futures for themselves here in America after World War Two.
Loretta Young portrays a jaded news photographer, Gretchen Brock-Miller, assigned to capture with her camera the problems and emotions of these refugees from Budapest. She approaches her assignment bored and with slight concern for her human subjects... until she begins to develop her story and finds herself playing a major role in the lives of her subjects.
Trivia fact: Many of the extras used in this episode were refugees at the St. Stephen's Church Resettlement Center in Los Angeles.
Eric Feldary (playing Brock-Miller's assistant, Eric Lazlo) was born on April 12, 1912 in Budapest. Before coming to Hollywood he was a well known fencer in Hungary, and enacted such roles several times in Hollywood.
He died on February 26, 1968 in Hollywood, from burns suffered when a gas explosion wrecked his West Hollywood home. Feldary was 55.
Ross Elliott, making a brief appearance as Bill Stevens, Brock-Miller's editor, was a television and film character actor who began his acting career in the Mercury Theatre, where he performed in The War of the Worlds, Orson Welles' famed radio program. He appeared in more than 100 television programs, including the recurring role of crewman Cort Ryker on the syndicated The Blue Angels (1960-1961), he appeared 59 times in a recurring role as Sheriff Abbott on NBC's western series, The Virginian and was cast as Virgil Earp in four episodes in 1958 and 1959 of The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, with Hugh O'Brian. Ross died of cancer on August 12, 1999 at the age of 82.
Albert Szabo, playing Jozssf Fekete, the refugee with two children, was known for his performances in Hitler (1962), Playhouse 90 (1956) Mission: Impossible (1966), Green Acres, Combat! (1963) The Untouchables (1963), and The Twilight Zone (1962)

Quite a timely and rather daring episode. It was highly unusual for a 1950's television series to tackle a contemporary political situation so bluntly! Bravo Loretta!!

Terrific story. I hope those that come to America today would appreciate a new beginning and not just come to complain and get a free ride.
