⚠ Since original publication, the charging stand & magnetic wall mount have changed slightly. They have been made into 2 separate items. The charging stand now has a USB cable hardwired into it rather than being detachable. Both do the same thing, just a different design.
There is now a version without the travel case. Retail prices have dropped too.

Sad, the proprietary chargers/cables are what contribute to this “environmental impact” as well.

I'm a qualified industrial designer, and I pride myself on being able to repair most anything. I once opened up a Braun toothbrush to try and replace the battery. It was almost impossible. I strongly suspect that they are deliberately designed to fail irreparably. I see no reason why such a simple device should be more fiddly to reassemble than a smartphone.

Interesting. Not the first person to mention this.
Some instruction manuals from some brands specifically state that they are not designed to be repaired. 🤔

This is, IMO, probably the best travel electric toothbrush. The compact USB-C travel case is top notch, especially at this price point.

But can it beat my Dr Dent premium sonic toothbrush,USB-C travel case not required, only a normal travel case? Why? Because a single charge lasts 8 months!🤣 and the best bit? It only costs £25 not £90 and comes with 5 operating modes instead of just 2: white, clean, sensitive, polish and massage!

I just got one from a dental show and I love it ! I work as hygienist the downside is doesn’t have sensor pressure and diff heads like ortho care or sensitive teeth like oral B and timer.. but I like the cleaning 💝 and environmental friendly

Another update as from what i can see nobody checked what's happening for nearly a year.
It comes in 4 colours now.
    Prices are:
    75£ for basic option
95£ for option with UV case.
Warranty is 1 year when you just buy it, but they added subscription plan for 2 brush heads shipped to your door every 6 months for 9,60£ + 1,99£ shipping.
You also get lifetime warranty with this subscription.

My Chinese made Oclean flow sonic toothbrush costs only £25,has 180 days of battery life from a single charge, has 5 different brushing modes and lastly has the universal USB-C charging port so no toothbrush specific charger or cord needed!😂

6 months in, broke, was replaced. It’s only really good for travel and cosmetic brushing. It doesn’t do a deep job, if you don’t want gingivitis use a Braun.

Really like this brush, but the button is very easy to press accidentally while holding it, turning it to a different mode or off completely.

  • @starbase218

The battery of my Philips Sonicare seems to be near the end of its life. Upon finding out that replacing it is a hassle, I started looking into this. But even with this one, it's recommended to send it back for battery replacement. It's a bit silly. I can replace the battery in my dive computer, that I take down to a pressure of 4 times normal. But the water sealing of these toothbrushes somehow means that users can't replace the battery.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Год назад

Fair point. It is something we have thought, but upon discussion with the manufacturer we were given the impression that this is designed this way to prevent issue and liability and ensure the replacement is completed correctly.

Yeah, at least it's replaceable. But it really should be user-replaceable. You can get waterproof torches with interchangeable batteries. So I see no reason a toothbrush should be any more complex.
