    Can you please do a video on how to turn a push pin (the one with the earring back you says you haven't looked into yet) into a pedant.

    I love this. I was just going through some of my brooches that I s e Odom wear, thinking about giving them away. Now, I just ordered the hangers and will start wearing a few of the ones my Grammy gave me. Thank you so much!! I needed this. 💕💖

    I just have a idea to add with the pin flopping forward. I would use a bit of low temp hot glue to stabilize it in place . Then peel if off when one wants to wear it as a pin . Just use caution with you pieces if you don't think it the glue will come off don't do it .
    Thank you for the video plan to do this with a brooch.

    I used to collect and wear pins in my early 20s. I've always liked them and been starting a collection again and I love victorian style pins, pretty much any victorian style jewelry I like lol. Bonus if it is real vintage and I do have a few pieces I happened to find in the jewelry jars some thrift stores will sell.

    I have a small rose pin I had gotten from my great grandmother, she has passed away now and I miss her very much, I'd love to wear her brooch unfortunately the pin part has broken and in trying to figure out how I can turn it in to a necklace.

    I have a lot of school themed brooches from when I was a teacher, as well as pretty decorative ones of flowers and animals. I never wear them anymore mostly because they would leave a hole in my shirt unless it was something knit, or had an open weave. This is a great idea though. I think I’d actually use a charm blank (I’m completely blanking out on what they’re called - but it’s a flat back with a loophole on top that can be glued onto polymer clay or anything else to turn it into a charm) and glue it on and possibly just remove the pin altogether. That would definitely solve the problem with it leaning. If you wanted a less permanent option, maybe you could hot glue the brooch to the bottom of the converter and then it can easily be removed if you wanted it to be a brooch again. 💜

    Yarn will fix the floppy brooch-pendant problem. Just wind the yarn around each side, like we used to use yarn/angora to wear those class rings.

    Good idea! I think putting a earring back on the tip of the pin after you close it might help it from snagging your clothes when it moves.

    I recently received a dragonfly pin from my aunt, it was my grandmothers who had passed away several years ago. And I Google how to make it into a necklace. Thank you for this video. Maybe I can find at local craft store. 😀 I wonder if I can use beads for spacers?

      I have a beautiful dragonfly brooch too. I love it, but have never worn it. That's why I'm here too. My great aunt Rosalie, my favorite aunt had one. It took me 30+ years to find one like hers. Now that I have it, I need to wear it, but I seldom wear brooches. I do wear necklaces though.

    Hi Sandy,, I've had brooches where the bar loosed, and came undun,and wondered how to turn it into a pendent,,but never worked out, I do have a beautiful rhinestone owl brooch from pave, where the bar came off,now from watching your video, have an idea of using the small filigree bails, as they have a loop at the top of the bail, and come in silver gold and bronze,mabey you know the ones I mean,, could slide on brooch bar and loop used to attach a chain

      Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress Your very welcome, I'm looking at the natures treasures video now, second time round, I would love to do this one but can never get the right resin,,, the only resin I got before was in a big can, a d comes with a 10 mm bottle of hardner , hated that stuff, and had to use a room that wasent used,, as it was so strong smelling, never again will I get that one, it was the only one in stock in Cork, so I thought I would give it a try, that was a few years ago bought 2 to 3 years ago,, as I like to get the the plastic type bottles of part one and 2, near me, not easy to get unless you have to get online I have silicone feather moulds,and flower ones, but miss the proper resin!!!!🌺🌹🌺🌹

    • @SandyHuntress
      @SandyHuntress  6 лет назад

      I still have a quart container of the resin that gets mixed with a catalyst. It's been kicking around for years, but I can't bring myself to use it. It was such a pain getting the measurements right, often stayed sticky and hubby tells me it stinks something awful (I can't smell but I'm sure it's not good for me.) One of these days I'll find a good outdoor project for it and use it up.

      Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress I did. I wear allot of hats. I have pins of all sorts on them. I'm just an old hippie. The pins I want to make into jewellery I remove the clasp part, not the pin, and make my loop out of the pin. I like your idea, but I'm concerned as you are about the movement. I'm thinking of a solution. Haven't found one yet. I recently found your channel and I'm vocal so you'll see my name again. Thank you for making the videos where I can learn. I'm a late starter. Lol I came here because of a brooch I have I want to make a pendant, and it's the same as the brooch from the upper left in the picture! Only my painted girl has a slightly fancier setting and the painting is signed. I'm not sure who the artist is though, it's so small.

    • @SandyHuntress
      @SandyHuntress  2 года назад +1

      Pinkie is a painting by Thomas Lawrence. It was done in 1794, and is often seen side by side by with Gainsborough‘s Blue Boy. They were favorites of my grandmother. The brooch was hers. I never have worn it, but do think of her when I look at it.
      Hope you enjoy wearing yours!

      @@SandyHuntress Thanks! I didn't know anything about the art, as I found mine at an antique jewelry table at a gun show. It is one of my favorite brooches (along with some cute antique bees) though, and I've been wanting to turn it into a pendant as I always feel uncomfortable using the pins on old brooches since they can break.

  • @suzannedawson4120

    Oh no! That antique looking painting pin is NOT TOO large to wear as a single statement necklace. On a heavy matching chain. Choker or just below that length. It’s gorgeous!!!
