  • In this video I make Goblet from a piece of Burr Elm and carved a knot into the stem .. Probably not the best choice of wood for something like this but after a bit of resin work on some hidden splits, it just about held together .. I finished it with a gloss spray lacquer..

Man, you made me feel real good about myself. I am very new to woodturning and I am learning as I go, mistakes and all. I thought that I was the only one working through some jacked up stuff. I push through until I get something out of a piece so I can see what not to do and works best for me. Hopefully, I can become half as good a craftsman as this because it's beautiful work out of some cracked up mess. True artist. Thank you for the motivation.

I have been looking at wood turning videos for three weeks now. I don't know what I watched that RUclips thought I would like watching wood turning videos, but I did. Some of them have no sound and you can you can just lose yourself in the sounds of the wood and the machines. There is one where the guy talks and makes funny faces which I enjoy as well but the ones without talking or music are hypnotic. I wanted to share one with my brother who is a carpenter but I was waiting for a really good video. I have found it. This video was amazing. I have always wanted a know how those knots🪢were made. I am going to watch it again. Thank you 😊. It took my mind off my problem. 🙃 It actually relaxed me.
