Primeape actually got a ghost-fighting type evolution named Annihilape in Generation 9. It basically got so angry that it died and manifested as a ghost of anger, it's a pretty cool design!
Funnily enough, Annihilape also only has 3 shackles

Fairy types aren't always soft and cutesy. Think of the kinds of mystical creatures in fairytales, you can find whimsical spirits that are both benevolent and sinister.
Eevee's Fairy evolution Sylveon encapsulates this idea well; it's soft with pastel colors and has soft shapes throughout, and its soothing feelers have a kind of eldritch air to them when you realize they're basically flapping tendril appendages that are used to hypnotize others.
In the same generation, there's the legendary Xerneas, an elegant deer that has life-bringing powers, and transforms into a tree when it is dormant
But at the same time, there's Pokémon like Fidough, Alcremie and Slurpuff. I guess Pokémon made out of food is quite uncanny.. so adorable you could literally eat them up lol
If I had to sum up what makes a Fairy type in two words, it would be "beautifully bizarre"
Fr, the creation of Impidimp is how I learned that goblins are considered fairies, I love their dark fairy typing. It's so contradictory, but works so well

The benevolent and sinister is a great way to describe fairy types.
I just finished typing a comment about all this, and how fairy types can also be tricksters... but most importantly, they represent magic and light. So many people want a magic type to be added, or a light type to be added to counteract the dark type... but the fairy type is already exactly that. Dark type is actually the evil type, and fairy is the good type.

One note on fairy types is that they can represent tricksters so if the Pokémon is sharp-looking, you can make it mischievous instead.
Grimmsnarl is a fairy type and that mon's a lot, but I wouldn't call it cute.
Fairy is my favorite type, and while yes a lot of fairy types are cutsie, that isn't their only thing, and it annoys me when others just assume all fairy types have to be adorable.
I'd say fairy types are most commonly either cute, elegant or feminine. They are also often tricksters... but imo the most important aspect of fairy types is that they are supposed to represent magic and light/good, the opposite of dark/evil type.
Then there's the whole thing with fairy types being associated with dessert foods, which is fairy common as well.
Yup. Someone needs to introduce Jazza to the impidimp line. Having Grimmsnarl as a reference could have changed his outcome for Aerodactyl and Kabutops.
Yeah, I definitely would have liked more than just “snorlax”ing and pinking the Pokémon to make them fairy. The wing change for aerodactyl was closer to what I would have liked with actual changes and not just chibi-fying 🤣

I thought I had some good ideas for the ghost Primeape name, but once I wrote them down, Polterape and Poltergape sounded a lot worse than I realized 😬

I kept sitting here thinking about Grimmsnarl and how cool some of the fairy type pokemon could turn out but I'm not entirely sure Jazza knows about that one in particular lol.
So fairy types are actually still a thing, but the TCG got rid of them. Both dragon and fairy types are prevalent in the main series games. I'm not sure if you were aware of that, but just in case.

Fairy is still very much a type! It is in Violet and Scarlet, and they got so much more varied and strong moves than ever!

OMG. First of all, the fact that you got Ghost Primeape with the new Ghost/Fighting Annihilape being a Gen 9 evolution is amazing. Also, Fairy typing is definitely still in the video games, even if it isn't in the cards.
My favorite of these is the primeape, I imagine that busted chains would have been an awesome concept for it. Keep up this concept, I love it to death!

To me, fairydactyll is honestly scarier than aerodactyl. Hippos are scary.
In all honesty, as cute as the Fairy attempts are, I can't help thinking that you're missing out on how eerie and terrifying fairy tales were prior to Disney-fication. Creatures like the kelpie, the headless horseman, the kappa, all of them are considered fairy tales and we're meant to teach children lessons in safety when the world around them was terrifying. Mimikyu is a perfect example of the traditional Fairy from older stories, and I feel like there needs to be more Fairy types like Mimikyu.
Given how f***ed up a lot of pokedex entries are, I'm sure that if game freak decided to include Fairodactyl as a convergent pokemon of Arrodactyl, they'd talk about how it Co-opted Arrodactyl's appearance in a form of aggressive mimicry to make it's disguise as a plush toy more believable. Then they'd talk about how it mimics a plush toy to absorb the emotions of human children, and that's it's a distant relative of Shuppet.
Funny enough Primeape was just given a ghost evolution in the new generation.

Primate was the strongest mash up. Really good job there with that one and Kangaskhan was really good too. However, Aerodactyl just looks like a purpleish Dragonite.

I think the Ghost-Type Primape would be a cool addition to a Thailand Pokémon Region. They could be the ghost of monks who have gone into the afterlife, honored among their piers.

I love the type swap videos
They may be pink and cute but Fairy types will f*ck you up. They eat Dragons for breakfast and if you read the 'dex entries there aren't only sweet, storybook fairies, but also the chaotic forces of nature type fae that steal babies and tear you apart if you have an emotion within 30 miles of them. And they absolutely can be sharp and look badass: Zacien, Xerneas, Mawile, Grimmsnarl, to name a few. Fairy types are awesome. The amount of times I carried a whole team through Dynamax Adventures in SW/SH with a Klefki is ridiculous.
Also 10/10 on that Kakuna, had me in stitches.

Jazza draws new scarlet and violet Pokémon based only on their names and maybe their Pokédex entries. Something tells me he doesn’t know *any* of them lol. *Cough cough* ghost primape *cough*
Fairy type never went away in the games, only the card game because they strip out the typings a lot! :) There's also something called regional variants that have been a thing since generation 7 that have been pretty similar to this kinda concept (older pokemon but with completely different types, for example they did ice type ninetales) - wouldn't say there's anything cursed about your idea here!
Really hope you do more content past kanto soon - your gen 2 starter terrariums were a breath of fresh air for example, kanto is already everywhere!

Seeing his idea of floating, detached hands for the ghost Primeape . . . I really think Nintendo should have done that for Annihilape. Maybe even done detached feet, all still with the shackles. That would be awesome.

As a fairly type user…. They don’t have to be bulbous and cute. They can be sharp and a trickster. Look up Grimmsnarl as an example. They can also just look beautiful. Look up Gardevoir or Hatterene as examples.
Overall, I’m just disappointed in these fairy type redesigns.
I know it might be quite impossible to do,but would live to hear what the original designers would think of these changes.

I like that the ghost type primape doesn’t look as close to primape as annihilape, because annihilape is an evolution that keeps the fighting type, still dealing ghastly blows, while the ghost type swap is just a pure ghost type, so it trades it’s punches for spirit powers.
I never want Jazza to go near a fossil pokemon ever again.

Btw primape actually had a Dex entry (I think from alola) that said they get so angry that they pass on sometimes. Apperantly though some evolve instead.

It's funny that you got Primeape for ghost type. There is a new evolution line for Primeape that is fighting/ghost type and looks pretty cool.

I have an utterly useless degree in Animation and 3D Design, and I swear every teacher I had made sound effects while drawing or modeling. While some in the class (me included) went in with the habit firmly ingrained (I really don't know how to draw without sound effects, as my digital tablet full of spittle dots will attest) I'm pretty sure every student that went through the program picked up the habit by graduation. It's a good way to tell a real pro.
