Tip for the bolt removal! Maybe I’ve just got big hands but if I put my pointer finger on the trigger and my thumb on the bolt release I’ve got no problem getting the bolt in and out

Great rifle.Good value for the money.
Tip#1 to sight in a new scope, take the bolt out, look tru the bore and adjust your scope reticle to be as close as where the bore is pointing - you waste less ammo.
Tip#2, 13:44 you can always take the bolt out ( I do) when transporting the rifle to and from the range. Fits any rifle case.

I have been using my Savage 110 desert tactical in 6.5mm Creedmoor for over a year. I do not hunt, and am a recreational target shooter. Circumstances have prevented me from exploring its long-range capabilities, but at 100 yards it CONSISTENTLY produces 5-shot groups of 1/2 inch or less. The best performing factory ammunition has been Hornady 140 grain ELD. The best performing handload has used a 140 grain Hornady Gamechanger bullet, 40.5 grains of H4350 powder, a CCI large rifle primer, and Hornady brass. This video was great, but the group size achieved was far from typical, at least from my experience.

You are right my TC compass in 6.5 creedmoor shoots under half inch at hundred and in general my 6.5s are more accurate than my 308s and my rifles seems to shoot tighter group after about 200-300 rounds. I believe this rifle will shoot much better after few hundred rounds. Thanks for sharing n God bless.

I agree, this is an excellent review.
I think you should get the 110. Adjustable stock furniture that comes with the rifle. Not only does an adjustable butt stock help with the length of pull, but it helps to determine where your cheek rests and how to best achieve the eye box with your scope.
Also, with any rifle, but especially budget rifles, check the torque on the action screws. Usually one in front of the magazine and then one behind or in front of the trigger guard (not the same on all rifles.) And welcome to the paucity of information that is the spec on action screws. Just about none of the rifle companies publish that. So, a handful of gunsmiths a lot more knowledgable than I am came up with a general figure for rifles such as the .308 Win. And this would work for the 6.5 C because while the grain weight is less and the recoil is less, it is more a matter of the speed of recoil. So, average between 45 and 50 inch pounds. That is tight enough for the threads of bolts and bosses to engage and have friction to stay in place but not squish or crack stocks.
You may have to re-check tightness after a day at the range. It doesn't to check these things before going to the range. And you may think about using loctite on action screws but don't do it. Step away from the loctite. Slowly and surely and leave it for gluing on that tip that broke off a sports trophy.
Also, David's method for sighting in a rifle is spot on perfect and correct. Do not use a gun vise. The reason is that when you clamp down a rifle, there is no place for the recoil energy to and you have small springs and screws that take the impact. Normally, and this is what scopes and rifles are designed for, the rifle is rested against a human shoulder. And the body is like a shock absorber, re-directing the recoil energy to ground. In fact, recoil management of a rifle can be done without a lot of weight. I put a Falcon Strike hydraulic recoil pad on my Compass II. The whole rifle, loaded with 150 g, scope, and recoil pad and sling and a rain slicker over the scope is 9 pounds 7 ounces. Not bad for a big guy like me.
One of my first and favorite books on rifle shooting is "The Long Range Shooting Manual," by Ryan Cleckner. Modernly, he is a lawyer but his previous career was being a Sniper Team Leader (his actual MOS) in the 1st Ranger Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment for a number of tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. The first thing he points out is that he is not a pinpoint shooter, he is a tactical shooter. The idea is to put a round in the critical zone under ideal to less than ideal circumstances. So, what you do is get used to the rifle and let it get used to you. How your body reacts to recoil is going to affect where the bullet lands. So, if you zero in a vise, well, that is great if you going hunting with a wide wooden table and a vise. Take it out of the vice and fire it and you will be off. Zero must be achieved with the rifle to your body, like David does.

@@ronws2007 Yeah, I have been looking into precision shooting for a little bit, I have heard of Ryan Cleckner and seen a lot of his RUclips videos. He is very knowledgeable. I will definitely check his book out.
As for the torque settings I have come across a little bit of this information when I bought my Ruger 10/22 takedown. I still don’t know what I should be torquing those stock screws to.

Hey Doc, just curious why the scope rings are so far forward if you would unbolt it from the base and slide the whole thing back not letting the scope hit the front of the base and bolt it back down it should get you on the cheek rest. Going by the video it looks like it would go at least a inch back on the base .I have one of these ordered and I’m curious if this will help. Thanks

Why didn’t you bore sight the rifle? I’ve never seen anyone do it the way you did it. 🤔
You didn’t look comfortable shooting that rifle. That cheek piece is way short. Im not sure if I would buy one of those rifles. Also I would like to see a five round magazine that 10 round was to long. Or a double stack magazine.

Bergara SP 6.5 CR SWFA 20X SCOPE. Light > accurate > smooth > good looking and 750 yards. I have the Savage Tactical (6.5 CR) as well, my most consistant and accurate with any ammo. The Bergara shoots Sako ammo lights out, but it has an 18" barrel. Savage is heavy, cheek riser sucks, bolt action sucks, ten round mag is awesome, trigger and accuracy is awesome. I wouldn't' hunt with the savage, sit and wait hunting ok, but walking or stalking hell no. The Bergara Special Purpose is my girl:)
One more thing, the savage is fast > 2850 fps (close to PRC), the Bergara max 2620, long distance bench hands down savage is TOP dog, with many ammo types. At 500 yards, = accurate, less MOA vertical required by the tactical was nice. Beyond 500 savage just runs away with it, but I don't shoot anything on the east coast of the US over 230-50 yards.

Step one, make sure it's clear and safe, two, safety off open bolt an inch or so, three, squeeze trigger with trigger finger as normal and press the top lever with your thumb and you can release the trigger itself, and finally step four, with left hand insert bolt.
