THE NEXT WOW RAID TIER STARTS SEPTEMBER 10TH. THIS SHOULDN'T CONFLICT WITH SAVAGE HOPEFULLY.
This actually sounds like such a fun idea! Very cool, Psy.
Sounds cool, although my only concern is that WoW seems more gear gated than puzzle gated. Where the difficulty is more evenly (or even mostly) weighted towards numbers rather than figuring out mechanics, which might require FFXIV folks to put a lot more time into the game, but out of raid, than we are used to, eg Mythic + runs or any systems in WW. Am I off base?
Apples and oranges. If they go blind with no addons, WoW mythic is probably harder. FF is a lot more telegraphed with less variance on pulls (depending on fight). Addons solve some of that, but not all. Gear is important but only to a point where you can live and meet damage checks. I haven’t raided in FF in a long while, but having friends that do both, that’s my impression at least. I think FF bosses are still longer fights, so it’s hard to compare pull counts.
@@keithb6344 Blind with no addons wow mythic is damn near impossible imo the game is designed around addons. Plus a mythic raid end boss 2/3 months after release is incredibly different than on release. It's made for a select few groups and then tuned down to fit more people.
@@keithb6344 I wasn't commenting on difficulty, so not sure why you mentioned it?
In FF the first tier can usually be completely cleared on crafted gear without any drops and a weapon from Extreme. All you need to do is figure out the mechanics. The fact that you would need gear of a higher ilvl to meet 'checks' is what gear dependency is about.
You are not off base, in my opinion. As someone who came from WoW myself (back during late ShB), I was completely shocked by FFXIV trivial gearing requirements to clear even the hardest fights in the entire game. Savage only requires gear that you can acquire day 1 of the tier dropping. And Ultimate requires gear from the previous Savage tier, meaning you can be fully BiS geared and ready months before the next Ultimate raid drops.
There are no spoilers required to compete either for those who enjoy RFW. Everyone starts on the same playing field because the fights are completely undisclosed until the day they release. Mechanics can only be solved by blind progging if you're leading the race.
The raid size also further adds to the accessibility. It's much easier to get 7 other likeminded players than another 19.
The accessibility is so conveniently good that players who can't commit to a static time can still prog the hardest fights with PUGs (over a longer amount of time, but still completely feasible and common).
All of that raiding accessibility is taken for granted by FFXIV raiders at this point. I'd imagine it'd be quite the shock when contrasted with how challenging it is to even get a full Mythic raiding team ready.
@@anaalvensleben789 Depends on how good the raid team is tbh. Gearing is a bit more involved than XIV, but world first teams will clear a significantly harder version of the fights at a significantly lower ilvl than most of the community.
That's why they brought up difficulty. How 'gear gated' you are depends on how difficult of a fight you're willing to take on. Its technically clearable with relatively little gearing, it would just be dramatically harder than clearing nerfed versions of the fight a couple months later while being overgeared.
I love this idea! I've only played FFXIV and it's my first MMO but my bf plays FFXIV and WoW and I always find it so interesting hearing the difference between the two! I like the idea of you guys doing WoW raids without addons, I don't think I've ever seen that and I feel like might make things harder because the raids are designed with add ons in mind (from my limited understanding.)
Also just want to add that I found your channel yesterday and I love your vibe! It's cool seeing a Brit creator going through their FFXIV experience and you have such a good outlook on things! Hyped to see where you go with all this in the future! Looking forward to catching some streams sometime!
How is ping on eu from west coast us?
It's a fun idea, the timing might be kind of odd for ff players though depending on if they are still farming savage at that time. I look forward to seeing if this goes through or not.
Yeah it'll be mid September so hopefully not a massive overlap. Heroic won't take people much time to prep anyway
I can't wait to watch this! I wish I was physically capable of joining you guys, but nerve pain in my arms has me taking a break from hardcore mmo content for the forseeable future.
Best of luck forming a team, and have a ton of fun! Maybe you can reach out to XIV-streamer communities. Big ones like Grinding Gear or Preach might have some people interested in this project.
That's a bummer, dude but I hope you can get back into hardcore gaming one day or find a new avenue to get excited about! Thanks and yeah hopefully some streamers get involved!
just a suggestion as a guy who has played both, I'd consider loosening the restrictions on addons. in particular just UI addons may be allowed? as someone who also swapped from wow to FFXIV i really struggled with the different UI design a lot more than the actual content and searched for ways to address that, i could potentially see UI being a pretty big pain point. either way though love the project hope it goes well, will def be checking in
I would apply but I actually have raided mythic in WoW during DF even tho being a FFXIV player so I dont meet the requirements, but If you can manage to get people for it would be really cool to see.
Awesome idea! The only issue is how gearing will be done given it's a rough time gate and you have to 'mostly' do current content which means you have to keep current. (Also a group of new players not doing M+) That and some fights have been made with addons in mind. I'd love to see even veteran WoW players try to play a raid without any add-ons and see what happens as well. Either way, it is a very cool idea if it can be done!
THe plan with gearing for heroic would be slamming mythic+ and then going straight into heroic. That should work just fine. FOr mythic we'll need a bit more time gearing but still doable.
Super cool idea but might be hard to execute currently as a lot of people are in the early stages of raid prep for the new ff14 tier. Hope it works out though
Luckily the WoW raid doesn't release til Sept 10 so we've got some time!
@@Psybear_tv Problem is that should be around the Timeframe the First Ultimate is released. Its usually around 8-12 weeks into Savage so around Mid-End of September.
@@Psybear_tv Id argue most FFXIV players, even the ones that raid frequently, are likely gonna still be progging the raid tier by the time this rolls around. Most people don't clear the tier in about a month so most of the people doing this will likely already be people interested in playing WoW.
@@DantoriusD it's usually 16 weeks or more. 4 month patch cycle. It's more likely there will be a Criterion dungeon in the September timeframe.
I would so consider doing this if it wasn't EU, I just don't think the times are gonna work, and I have no idea how WoW performs in out-of-region ping. I've been interested for a while in the idea of trying my hand at retail wow. I tried Classic SoD and bounced off after the start of phase 2 but never played retail at all.
im mostly a lurker on this channel so i dont know if it would be weird for me to apply to this but this really does sound like a cool idea
Nah not weird at all. As long as you're interested that's all that matters. No need to get talkative :D
Didn't sign up as I'm NA and already a mythic raider, but its a pretty awesome idea and if there ends up being any additional ways to help support the mission let us know it sounds like a fun project.
No worries, appreciate that you like the idea! At the moment, It's just getting the word out to people :D
There are tonnes of FFXIV players who still play and love WoW. Like Arthars, and Quazii. Some crossovers could be entertaining. I'm too busy to pick up another game atm, but definitely would drop in for a couple hours to watch like I did with your ultimate blind prog.
Yeah hoping to bring others in. I'd love to do a race of sorts with another streamer community. No worries, I'll obviously try and create youtube recaps for it like I did with UWU
This sounds great. I tried wow a couple of times because I wanted to raid but always got bored of the levelling. If I'm levelling with a group though that wouldn't be a problem.
What helps is buying the new wow expansion gives you a max level boost. so when TWW comes out you'll only have to do 10 levels. And yeah levelling with a team of FF14 players could be fun! All experiencing it together
I have played maybe an hour of wow, that’s it lol I’m nit even sure what I was doing or what I was playing. Would totally sign up but savage and ultimate are rapidly approaching
This'll be early-mid september so hopefully the timing should line up outside Savage. We'll see!
Depends on gezr progression. That would burn out a lot of people
For heroic gearing should be pretty simple. For Mythic yeah gearing takes time but no longer than FF gearing. I think it'll be good fun
Really cool idea Psy. But your Survey in Terms of Experience is a little bit....rough. I played WoW till WotLK and did highend Raiding back then but ive quit with our Arthas 25 HC Kill....i wouldnt count me as a "Experienced" Raider since its so long ive played.
No worries! I mention in the vid that experience is relative. If you've not raided in modern WoW that's good enough for me!
this sounds interesting. I wanna see how they go through the grind for equipment and stuch.
The plan would be sorting groups into mythic+ farms and then jump into heroic a little after that
Seems like you should instead have pre-approved addons or some variation of using what the common raider has access to just like in FF when you went to their camp.
And, while figuring out wtf to do in UwU is challenging, the execution is not so much. It is also a very quick ultimate. Even UCoB is like 2x harder.
Yeah we'll likely take a vote on what's allowed. Like UI addons are likely ok but no combat enhancements.
@@Psybear_tv It also might be easiest to start with getting 5-10 people who will go for Keystone Hero or w/e first since they'll need to get used to so much M+ in order to play late heroic - all mythic prog which is a huge difference from FF where you just hit max, buy crafted gear from market board and hop into savage ezpz
@@Psybear_tv I think some WoW classes are straight up unplayable without a proper WA hud, so it's going to be really interesting to see how this turns out.
Ff14 still has job interview shit for a lot of static/FC recruitment. Most of the DT savage static recruitments im seeing require previous on patch savage clears
Depending of your Expectations ive saw a lot of newbie friendly Static Recruitments on the ERC. Also even IF they require old Savage kills make them the offer for a EX Trial Testraid. Ex 2 isnt the easiest and should be on Savage Turn 1 or 2 level
I have heard FF can be like this but also heard there's a lot of friendly ways to start to engage in the content and build up exp with prog PFs
Poor Billy getting caught with that naughty, naughty DBM.
yeah billy is the WORST >:(
I’m telling you some FFXIV groups want you’re whole life story too. I’ve realized those groups aren’t worth it.
reach endgame, do the savage & ultimates there
(do old content, when there is downtime / not much up).., current content is always >> old content (try to get in as much as current as possible)
