  • I had booked a giant otter experience at Philadelphia Zoo, but decided to leave transport to the zoo until we had arrived in New York, thinking the train price would be reasonable. That was a huge mistake - The train cost was ridiculous (around $200)! Luckily, the Greyhound bus was a lot cheaper ($62), so we had an early start from Port Authority Bus Station, but it was a decent experience, and were at the zoo just after opening.
It was worth the hassle to travel to America's oldest zoo, as they have some amazing species and the 360 exhibits are amazing to see. To have a tiger and gorilla walk overhead is a unique experience that we've not experience anywhere else.
The highlights were the McNeil Avian center, with free flying birds of paradise and some amazing aracari species, and Big Cat Falls.
Whilst the taxi trip back to Philadelphia Bus Station at the end of the day was a forgettable experience, the day spent at the zoo certainly wasn't and would love to visit again one day.

Your videos make me miss the East Coast and I feel I need to swing back through that area and check out some of the Zoos you've spotlighted. Most of my content is in the Midwest now.

Which zoos would you recommend in the Midwest?

@@TheOriginalEnZOOsiast Columbus Zoo is a great zoo for variety of animals. The Memphis Zoo has great enclosures that are well designed and the decor on the people side of enclosures is just as nice. Henry Doorly Zoo of Omaha is really good as well.
