    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the kind words. there is no fixed format of interview. Depends on which department interviews you, which team in that department. It can vary very much depending from person to person. So, I can't say exactly what anyone will be most interested in.
      But of course you will most definitely be asked a few questions on programing etc if you are applying for a computing technical student, but I also know several technical students that were hired without any interview so nothings certain 😋

    It was truly an informative video, much appreciated your work!!!

    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  Год назад

      Hey ! There is no specific requirement, it depends on a lot on your background and which field you're applying for. If you are a physicist applying for a physics field your skills will be different then IT, so there is no fixed skillset.

    Hey Anish. I have applied at CERN 2023 programme for an IT position and I have my skills in front-end web development and a bit of Python and C++. So is this okay?
    Also what type of questions were you asked in the flash-cards? And also what type questions were you asked for your interview with the recruiter?

    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  Год назад

      Hey Manav ! Good luck for the application 👍 as for the skills, imo they are good but I can't say at all that what the outcome will be. Thousands of students apply for the CERN Technical student programme and it is very intense competition. Also, in the SONRU interview, the one with the flashcards, I have answered that question many times in the comments section so do take a look there as well.
      In SONRU they ask very generic questions like what kind of working env do you prefer ? what motivates you ? why do you want to work at CERN ? etc.
      I had 2 interviews with recruiters, n the first one i was asked a lot of Java questions. In the second one i was asked web dev questions and past experience questions. There is absolutely no common interview standard at CERN, every dept. is different and even teams within departments can interview very varyingly.

    • @AnishLearnsToCode

      you need to be registered with your university for the whole duration of your technical student program, so if you get selected in your 8th semester, you will have to do it for a short time, like 4 months (which is the shortest period you can do it for).

    Can we apply for this internship if we are final year 7 th semester student. I have only 6-7 months to complete my degree

    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  2 года назад

      You can apply but wouldn't recommend it, unless of course you are planning to do your masters after this so you will still be enrolled in some university as you can only be a Technical Student if you are enrolled at some university.

      They will only give you a monthly stipend and you need to manage all your expenses on your own. They will not give any free rides, free food etc. but imo the stipend is good enough to manage your expenses.

      The work you do will depends on which team you are working in, as work varies widely from team to team. Also you have very good work life balance at CERN so you wont do a lot of overtime or working extra long hours etc. Working hours for me were from 9-5:30 and i used to work 40 - 43 hours on a weekly basis.

      if you are selected for CERN, you don't have to pay any visa fees. and the only thing that CERN will give you is a monthly stipend and will cover your travel costs.

      There is no standard CERN interview process. All teams have a different interview style. Having said that, I don't think CERN demands very high level of DSA in interviews, but you should at least know the basics.

    Thank you for all of the information ❤
    I would be very grateful if answer these questions:
    1) It's written in the website that they cut health insurance fees from the allowance. How much they cut?
    2) Are the cites and area safe enough for girls?
    3) My family is not well off financially. So, do they pay for travel allowance and stuff beforehand or after reaching there?

    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  9 месяцев назад

      Hey ! the answers to the questions are:
      1. They will make a monthly deduction for health insurance, but that is a really really good thing ! Healthcare is very very expensive in switzerland and if you ever need to use the doctor that will break the bank for you ! having this heath insurance means that you can go to any doctor/hospital in the world and your bill will be covered! So, that's very good. If this wasn't there, you would need to buy your own health insurance which is way more expensive. about 160 chf are deducted per month.
      2. Switzerland is one of the safest places on Earth: www.thebrokebackpacker.com/is-switzerland-safe/#:~:text=The%202021%20World%20Peace%20Index,trip%20that%20will%20involve%20risk. i have many many times walked alone in the night even in the middle of forests (and jungles !! 🤣) and so far i have only encountered a few deer and a little fox one time (another story for another time). A very big chunk of the population here uses the public transport, and women easily travel here on buses, trains etc. at night.
      3. They do cover travel costs, but the money will be paid to you only after you open a Swiss bank account, so only once you arrive there and open your account will you receive the money.

    • @AnishLearnsToCode
      @AnishLearnsToCode  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think it is a very decent amount to live there and also save some money on the side. My main expenses were:
      1. Rent: approx 900 - 1000 chf / month
      2. mobile subscription: 20 - 30 chf / month
      3. 1/2 fare travel card: 120 chf / year
      4. Geneva area travel card: 600 chf / year
      food + groceries: (this varies a lot person to person): 300- 500 / month
      So, Imo you can easily live in the region and also travel around with your CERN salary.

Before arriving in switzerland it will cost you to buy the flight tickets + paying for CERN hostel, which is approximately 700 CHF for the flight + 300-400 for reserving the CERN hostel.
