On May 24, 2013 at Spooky Empire's May-Hem convention in Orlando, Pat Carroll - voice of Ursula from The Little Mermaid - read lines from The Haunted Mansion Ghost Host dialogue with her own unique style.
Even at her age she can still pull off the Ursula laugh.

Out of all the Disney villains I've seen, Ursula has and always will be my favorite and I have Pat Carroll to thank for really giving so much life to such an iconic antagonist. I never get tired of hearing that amazingly evil laugh.
Thank you, Pat, for bringing so much joy to us poor unfortunate souls. For a character who's after someone else's voice, we will always cherish yours.

She played my favorite Disney villain mostly because she was smart, devious, devilish yet elegant and stylish. AMAZING
Even in her 70s, just relaxing on a couch and randomly asked to sight read, she completely styles all over whoever they're going to pick to replace her in the remake.

Oh c'mon now. Pat Carroll IS a legend; no one can take that away from her. But I think either Melissa McCarthy or Queen Latifah (which one did they decide on?) can step up to the plate and knock it out of the park. They're both good actresses.
The fact that the microphone is purple gave me a certain satisfaction to all of this for some odd reason.

Wow. WOW!! I LOVE THIS LADY. I never knew who voiced Ursula the Sea Witch but I loved her vibe and loved Ursula even though she's a villian. The lady is a Disney Legend!!!! Hats off to her.

But now my major wish is for Haunted Mansion to go totally "sunk" with pirate or general ship crew ghosts, skeletons, treasure, watery lighting, fish bones and dead merpeople after hearing this. As long as there isn't a dead Ariel on ride and Ursula becomes Ghost Host, I'M F*CKING THERE.

That was awesome! It was so creepy and scary. Ursula's voice sounds exactly like the type of voice that you would hear at The Haunted Mansion.
So, there's only one question left to ask. Why didn't Disney hire Pat Carroll to do the Ursula voice-over for The Haunted Mansion? That would have been a really cool way to combine/overlap two completely different worlds. Unfortunately, Disney missed that opportunity. Pat Carroll passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022. RIP.
I suppose the only way Ursula's voice could be added to The Haunted Mansion, now, is with some pretty sophisticated technology, which I'm sure Disney already has their hands on and knows how to use it.
Yes they do. They did it for Carrie Fisher in Rogue One. Most of her scenes in the movie are computer generated as well as her voice since she died during the project.

Wow....I could never get a picture in my mind of the lady that was Ursula....now I've seen this....I realised I did have an idea...but Pat Carroll wasn't it! What an amazing lady...she reminds me of my Nanna...she was no Ursula..but she had that voice....you know the one...it made you stop...and listen....you ran or you fronted. If you fronted you would usually lose and pay the price!!!....Lol happy, and much missed days.....:3

I don’t know what’s scarier: Corey Burton’s Ghost Host voice on Haunted Mansion Holiday being almost exactly like Paul Frees (at least to me it is), or Pat Carroll reading the stretching room scene from the regular Haunted Mansion with her Ursula voice.
