Bronco Raptor VS Jeep 392 - Comparison That ACTUALLY Matters!

  • This is our extremely unscientific comparison between the all new Bronco Raptor and a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. It's not your typical off road or rock crawl comparison, but instead consists of real world factors that we get daily questions about. And although anyone could probably google the answers, why do that when you can instead watch us wield a tape measure around like we know what we're doing?!

As a bloke from a MoPar Family, the best part of the Bronco's (the entire range), is that they force Jeep to work harder at the development of the next models out - Competition between manufacturers is good for the consumer, as it forces the product to be better if they want buyers.

    • @PiDsPagePrototypes

@@ladyrose3285 That's only short term. Once the 'new, shiny' effect of advertising on consumers wears off, the prices drop, especially in places where there are consumer protections from unrealistic mark-ups at point of sale. Dealers will report demand, but will artificially inflate prices by not selling at factory recommended prices.

I'm 6'3 tall and have no issues with head room with my rubicon 4XE at least..a lot easier to park than the bronco raptor too, especially city living, so for me the smaller dimensions are better but can still get out the city to he trails.. it's also more nimble due to being smaller.. bigger isn't always better..I also think the 392 V8 engine sounds more badass than the raptor imho too

Raptor is impressive for being 100% stock even at 85k. I bet they have 130,000 in that Jeep. The front end on the braptor is basically all f-150 down to the bolt pattern. I have a badlands and only don’t have the bronco raptor because my dealer didn’t have allocation to switch to a raptor. The raptor exceeds the regular bronco in almost every conceivable way that matters. For a first effort the raptor is impressive for sure.

As someone who owns a 392 on one ton Dynatracs, 40s, blah blah…stock for stock the Braptor wins hands down. It wins against a 392 on 37s in all except acceleration. raw power, possibly articulation stock vs stock and ergonomics. Steering, better. Handling, better. Suspension, WAYYY better.
I’d love to add a Braptor to the garage as a daily in a year or two. Would be a great complement to my rock crawling focused 392. It’s okay to like both!

As a giant, mutant sized 6' 6" and 300+ lb human being, the Bronco is a much better fit for me. I'm hoping the after market takes care of the standard Bronco (vs Bronco Raptor) suspension and steering weakness. I'm also really, really interested in seeing how the portal adapters work out for suspension lift and gearing for 40" tires at some point.

My 2023 Bronco Wildtrak comes standard with the BRaptor HD steering components from the factory. I'm sure 74Weld Motorsports will have portals for the Bronco soon as they provide them to the Ford Racing team. It looks like the Raptor is the best overall stock 4x4 out right now. I wasn't sold until I watched a hour long video on the comprehensive changes made to the chassis and suspension to the Raptor vs. the standard Bronco.

It is interesting to see the size differences between the two. I will say I am a little taller and heavier than avg and I do prefer the size of the wrangler. It fits between the rocks and trees better on the trails. I've been down some trails where I would not recommend a bronco or a longer wheel base simply because of how tight the trail is. Doesn't mean the right driver can't do it though. It all comes down to each their own I suppose.

Great comparison. Two things I'd like to add. One, the front suspension ground clearance on a Jeep will not really change other than tire compression, but driving an Independent front suspension vehicle into a whoops or dip, you quickly loose lots of that clearance as the suspension compresses. I'd bet you'd loose 4-5" on that Bronco in a good dip with momentum. I get this allot on my Canam atv, going down into a dip in the trail and the front end compresses and slams the rock in the middle that wasn't very high. That's a win for the solid axle Jeep, predicable clearance.
Other thing was wow, when you opened the rear tailgate on the Bronco, terrible fit and finish with all those spot welds being visible all across the main inside panel, shocking really.

The raptor edition is gonna blow most other vehicles away. I love the f150 raptors, they are a beast, and I love driving them. I've never seen details about the Bronco raptor so thank you for sharing. And great thumbnail 👍
Also, Yes people the Bronco raptor is all stock. All raptors come stock and beefed up. F150s and Bronco.

Kevin didn’t measure to the lowest point on the Bronco skid plate. It’s about an 1-1/2” lower.

I like watching your videos as you’re real , personally I own a badsquatch, and love it. In all fairness I don’t do the same runs you’re doing, however I will be doing every trail that I’m capable of doing as the bronco seems to be more capable then I am at this point. There are nut zerts on my roll cage where those braces connect but my build was in nov 22. Hope to run into you guys sometime. Happy trails!!

Well, this video sealed the deal for me. I’ve been happy with my Badlands, but with what I plan on doing to it, I just might as well go Raptor.

Great video as usual! Two very likeable personalities. Not talking trash but every time I see these two together I always think Scrappy Doo got Daphne. 😂

I pretty sure the reason for the Jeep's mirrors being able to move at all is so if they get bumped pulling into the garage or something they don't break.

The crazy thing is how heavy the Raptor is , at almost 5,800 lbs it’s over 700 lbs heavier than a stock 392 Jeep. To be honest I saw how big a POS the first Bronco was and I had low expectations on the Raptor but it has impressed the heck out of me.

As a new subscriber to your channel, and as a Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ owner mildly modified, I want to thank you for the comparison. It is interesting to know that information. I’m 5’7” tall and getting into my Jeep I sometimes hit my head getting in. My 2000 f150 not so much. My wife’s JKR unlimited, forget it! I have to duck my head to get in because of the factory “cage”.
I’ve been thinking about getting something newer to wheel off road with but haven’t made up my mind what. So I appreciate the info you just passed along. Thank you.

Would love to see a review of the Ford Performance upgrade if you guys had that done? It keeps the factory warranty and adds almost a 100 foot pounds of torque

if you're looking at the back of the mirror and grab the inboard and outboard of the mirror pull slightly back on the inboard and push on the outboard or if youre looking at the face of the mirror just switch what side you push and pull on. it's easier. it still not as easy as it looks like the brapter is but it's easier and less wear and tear on the pivot point on the mirror. when I worker for Chrysler an engineer stated , that is the proper way to fold the mirror on the wrangler/ gladiator.

And they are designed that way so if impacted at speed they break off instead of coming though window!

Excellent video! I've always said that I don't have to hate something else to love what I have. That rule applies in all aspects of life and makes life much more enjoyable. Both rides are amazing and it's great to see more and more people enjoying their vehicles. I'm happy with what I have and I'm happy for others for what they have. Cheers!

I love this video however you missed a key comparison. Rear passenger room! Maybe you can put that in another video or just reply to this comment. I know you don't have children other than Peanut and Jelly, but some of us do. Also it factors into overland packing room. Thank you and love you guys all the way from Northeast Texas!
