    From my experience with Recruitment and Support Levels I found that a B-Rank Support with a student gets you a lot of leeway when it comes to having their desired stats/skills. I am playing as the Black Eagles and recruited Ingrid with an E+ in Flying. I could also recruit Marianne with a flat E in Riding, literally zero level ups for that one. If you really want someone to join you, you better start giving them a million flowers and eating with them every chance you get.

      I found that if you rank support up to B, you can ensure your intended character to join your house by doing the following; save before you instruct, instruct, then during the week, that character will, based on RNG, ask to join your house. If they don't, soft reset (-, +, L, R at the same time) and try again. Usually doesn't take more then a few resets. I actually managed to get both Raphael and Ingrid in the same week with only 5 activity points to my name. As far as I know, drinking tea and getting perfect teatime nets you the most support per activity point spent. Other then that, be sure to buy all the gifts you can from the East and West vendors at the marketplace, and just spam gifts until they reach support rank B. Also, it appears that you need to have the support conversation for the characters to actually achieve that support rank and be able to continue building support (not confirmed, but this has been my experience thusfar).

      In order to recruit all the students (except for the lords), you need to start new game+ (yeah this game has one apparently) and have at least a C (C+ on the safe side) in all the weapon and movement classes. And don't worry in new game+ it transfers all the weapon ranks and the blessings you got from the statues in the church on your first playthrough of the game.

      Oh man thanks for the link for the class skills! I was definitely wondering which classes I should focus on getting their skills for. I want Deathblow for my units.
      How often do you use the Sword of the Creator? I seem to use other swords in place of it. I have Byleth (still a dumb name) as a Thief atm and I have enough speed to double most units even with weaker weapons.

  • @GuranPurin
    @GuranPurin 5 лет назад +554

    I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT wait too late to start earning Supports with Byleth for your S-Support parter of choice. For those unaware, you do not get a chance to start building a C Support post-time skip. You need (at least) a B Rank Support BEFORE time skip with Byleth if you want to continue Supporting someone in the War Phase. The game will physically not let you trigger Supports if they are not high enough by War Phase so if you want to marry a certain character, do not wait too late to get their Supports WITH Byleth (students with other students vary, but most need at least C Support, some need B).
    You also must obtain Jeralt's ring to choose an S-Support partner. From what I understand, if you don't have it, you won't be able to S-Support someone.
    Please upvote so others can see. I posted it in my original comment, but it wasn't the main focus on that post, so people may overlook it and it appears a lot of players are unknowingly locking themselves out of S-Supports with their desired partner.

    My tip:
    Pretty much only Explore or Battle. The combination of Exploring to eat meals and train yourself will yield more motivation and skill points for your students and yourself than Resting or Seminars. Exploration is basically Resting and a Seminar all in one, and Battles are the only way to increase class mastery. The only time I'd do a Seminar is if there's no class the following week.
    Also, don't forget that Gifts, Lost Items, Support cutscenes, and getting MVP is certain battles can all raise motivation. You can only ever teach 7 students max during Classroom Instruction, so it can be worthwhile to eat 3 meals and shove a bunch of gifts at the 7th student you want to teach that week. Also, always do Choir Practice. It's free stat points for yourself and your healers.

    • @maowcat1587
      @maowcat1587 5 лет назад +3

      Choir does cost one activity point, but it increases two stats for you, and one stat for two students. Absolutely worthwhile in terms of value.
      And I don't use Sword of the Creator much with how limited it is. If you play online, you can use the yellow wisps to gain xp, and sometimes they also restore durability. That's how I repair the SoC for the rare times I need to use it.

    • @dman6093
      @dman6093 5 лет назад +6

      Choir practice increases the skills by 5 points on non-special days. It is hardly an amount of points that changes anything, your healers would be better off healing chip damage a little extra during battles.

    • @schrottinator
      @schrottinator 5 лет назад +3

      @@dman6093 But it also gives motivation, professor points and is good to build up support. It's a good method to boost a lot of different stuff at once. It might not be the best method for one certain thing but at least it doesn't feel like a total waste such as resting does.

    Honestly, fishing can easily be its own video and a detailed guide on it is sorely lacking. Just a few things I picked up on it:
    - Press "B" to pass on a fish. Other people have said you can get up to 4 tries, but from my own experience, I've lost the bait every single time after the 3rd try.
    - Red and gold fish are rare enough to where even if you get one on the first cast, you should still go for it.
    - Line strength grows with Professor level, and catching gold, purple, and rainbow fish are a bit hard to do with anything below a B Professor level.
    - The line strength and fish stamina indicators are reminiscent of the health bars in the older FE games.
    - Rainbow fish can only be caught on the mysterious fish days.
    - It's a bit hard to gauge to PL experience gained, but it seems like small blue fish give you 5, big blue fish give you 10, red and gold fish give you 20. Getting a perfect catch on a fish gets you about 5 to 10 experience, depending on the rarity. So a perfect catch for a red fish gives you a fairly nice 30 xp.
    - For whatever reason, hitting the "target ring zone" in the fishing min game and the circle is clipping the outside in the ring results in only a good reel. However, clipping the inside still results in an excellent reel. Because of this, shoot for lining it up perfectly, but err on the side of being a bit too late rather than a bit too early.
    - Blue fish are just used in meals with no effect. Red fish are used in meals and boost stats. Gold fish can be sold for gold (I believe it's 200, 300, 500, 1000 - I don't think there are 1 star gold fish). Purple fish are 3k gold. Rainbow fish boost multiple stats in meals, but they also carry a nice price tag.
    - Save your Herring bait for the mysterious fish days for rainbow fish and purple fish. Blowflys catch 4/5 star gold fish and reds. Earthworms seem to be great for catching 3/4 star red and gold fish - this is great for gold farming on "fistful of fish" days.
    - Buy out the bait each month. Altogether, it's only like 1.5k gold.
    Apologies if some of this isn't entirely accurate. I haven't written down and carefully tracked everything; I'm just speaking from perceived experience.

    • @TheGreatRio
      @TheGreatRio 5 лет назад +1

      This is pretty accurate, with a few notable exceptions. You can get more than 3 tries, but the chance to catch a fish after the 3rd try is very, very low, so you're almost always better just accepting your 3rd catch rather than waste the bait.
      The experience you get seems really inconsistent, and I was trying for a solid 10 minutes while paying close attention to it, but it seemed almost random what experience I got.

      On the subject of flowers! Since you'll end up with many of them while you try to get the stat-boosting items, they make great (cheap) gifts that raise a unit's Motivation by 25% or 50% depending on whether they like flowers or not.
      Edelgard - Carnation
      Petra - Sunflower
      Ashe - Violet
      Mercedes - Lavender
      Lorenz - Rose
      Lysithea - Lily
      Marianne - Lily of the Valley
      Hilda - Anemone
      Flayn - Forget-me-nots
      Alois - Sunflower
      Cyril - Baby's Breath
      If there's a student you want to recruit, spam them with flower gifts until you can unlock their B-Rank Support, after which they can (randomly) approach you during the weekdays and ask to join your class.

    When fighting monsters try to break all their shields to get bonus items, especially bosses. Also you can get rusted weapons from monster battles that can be refined into legendary weapons like Gradivus and Parthia. An easy way to get them is selecting a monster battle, checking their inventory with X and checking if they have such weapon, if not just quit the battle and re-enter it.

      How does breaking there armor work exactly

    • @loghead1015
      @loghead1015 5 лет назад +9

      Blazer Ike when you fight said monsters you’ll notice that when you look at the tiles they are over(the four tile spaces that they take up) they are a shade of yellow. This means that they have a shield. The game technically has a tutorial for this but it flew over my head as well. Anyway when ever you do damage to the monster the specific tile will change to a cracked look for it. The idea is to completely destroy all four tiles by doing enough damage not to the monster but the specific tiles spaces he takes up. This will break his armor which halves all damage and allow you “take him to school” pun intended. You can do this by simply damaging him, using gambits, or the special abilities geared to monsters. As the gentleman above said this method can yield extra goodies from the beast. Good luck fellow teacher!

With four people, you can actually chain break all four parts of its armor with regular attacks (which won't get countered because the previous attack broke an armor piece), and when its first HP bar is gone it'll be stunned for an entire turn, so wail on it the next turn for an easy kill. Also, since it's not immediately apparent, you can actually break its last armor piece on the hit that kills it and still get the armor shards.

    If you want to get mastery for first classes then the brigand boss from chapter 2 can be infinitely class xp farmed with no risk.
    He is stood on a heal tile, has no movement and no long range attack so you can just hit him with a bow as many times as you want and as long as you don't 1HK him you can keep generating class xp. this method could also be used for lv xp and weapon xp but the growth is dependent on damage so the more xp you earn the more turn you have to leave him to recover and the more weapon usage you will need. I use a rusted bow to max out all my units class xp then call it a day but it can probably be exploited more than this with enough patience.

    No spoilers and not a beginner tip, but you REALLY want to talk to Edelgard during Exploration in February (if you're playing black eagles obviously). At the end of the February mission you will have two choices if you talked to Edelgard, but will be forced into the default choice if you didn't talk to her. I've heard that you need a C support with both her and Hubert for this though. P. S. Let's just say it's not a TellTale choice...

    I've only played a the Golden Deer route (to completion, but I digress), so here's some advice I've got:
    Some classes give extra weapon experience to weapons associated with that class (in some capacity), such as both magic classes giving Faith and Reason, or Cavalier giving Sword and Lance. If you wish to gain levels a bit faster in a certain weapon, entering an associated class is a good way to do it.
    Like Sacred Spear noted, some classes give skills or combat arts exclusive to the class (such as Dance on Dancer or Canto on a mounted class), but not all. For example, Dancers can learn the "Sword Dance" Combat art (which gives a good boost to avoid) and Sword Avoid skill (gives extra avoid when wielding a sword), which can be kept regardless of reclassing.
    Leveling up movement ranks gives you some pretty useful skills, which can help you if you need them. For example, leveling up Armor gives you a Weight -3 (and -5 at higher levels), which decreases the weight of weapons used, thus raising AS. Flying gives the Alert Stance skill, which gives extra Avoid if no action but Wait is chosen - given the importance placed on Avoid and terrain, it can be a blessing if one uses it to prepare for an enemy assault. These are also available to any class, despite being tied to those Movement/Armor ranks.
    If you raise Bow to C rank, your unit Close Counter, which is exceptionally useful for Bow units kept on defensive tiles. There is a Mini-bow that allows for 1-2 range combat, but follow-ups are impossible at 1 range, so it's very useful if you want Bows to follow-up at 1 range.
    If you level up a Budding Talent skill (the skill which has 3 stars beside it, which get gold stars when with tutoring), it will not only turn it into a skill they excel at, it also unlocks a semi-unique skill for them to use (such as White Magic Avoid if Byleth levels Faith).

    another hint I would include would be to focus on teaching skills that can't be leveled up eary without a base levels on them (you can't level up magics until you reach d rank and unlock your first spell, you can't level heavy armor until you reach d rank and unlock the armor class, you can't level fliers until you've got high enough to unlcok the first classes that allows you to mout a flier (pegasi needs d ranks for women, wyvern needs c rank for men) and d rank for riders
    Weapons tend to be easy to leve up through battle as long as you match the weapon grind with a class that provides bonus to that weapon... so no need to focus on those in class / focus / academic help for byleth, at least not until the others are open for battle grind.
    don't forget to spend your fame on the statues for easier grinds.

    Just an FYI maxing out the beginner classes gives Swap, Repostion, Shove, and Draw Back (same as FEH) and they are 0 durability combat arts. Also the most universally powerful (broken/OP) gambit is Stride which gives nearby teammates a massive amount of movement and pretty much lets you break all the maps in half. I made my first play trough already, I’m on NG+ now, one thing I would recoment is gridning, yes its a bit boring but take the battles that dont cost any points, they are especially good at the begining when there are no monsters, you win them in not time and level up like crazy, so much I have not even used Gambits, at the end I removed leadership from the list and rather added a direct battle passive skill, and had no issues at all. ITs a JRPG so dont worry, grinding is a part of the design :)

Even on Hard difficulty, you can use the "Retreat" option during Battles to restart the current battle, while resetting your weapon durability and keeping class and skill XP (not sure about support points). Since you can only Instruct so many students, at a certain point it just feels better to instead explore and Eat Meals with the students you want to train. If the student likes the dish (seen with the Blue Up Arrows) then they get 100% Motivation back. There might be something more to Resting, but at the moment it just doesn't seem as useful.

    *SPOILER AHEAD*
    Biggest tip is to not play Black Eagles. You permanently lose 2 units instead of 1 if you pick that house, and they happen to be the two strongest units for that house which will likely be your most invested units. It ended up fucking me pretty hard for a few encounters, not a fun experience...

    I’m somewhat confused about something. One of the battles (not the story one, the one where you can battle freely), my Flayn died. She said she was retreating, so I just thought she would still be in my barracks next mission. Now she’s nowhere. I started to panic (and develop ptsd really quick, thanks fe) and try finding her. She still in the monetary, but is she dead or…?

      She's dead. It is a little misleading.
      If the battle explicitly states "fallen units will return" beforehand will they come back. Otherwise they are permanently removed from your usable team.

      Unless you are playing Casual. Then they don't die/leave. Some characters are important for story, and so they don't "die" but they won't be usable again.

      They basically pulled the same thing here as they did in Awakening, at least for the mothers and the father in that one. If they're plot-important, they will "retreat", but not be usable anymore in battle.

    How do you get the rainbow fish, I've been trying diff. Baits and I can't seem to get it?

      I THINK, it has to be a special fishing day.......a hook on the calendar and the pond will have a golden glow around it. I didn't see the rainbow fish until the second half of the game. Also I totally failed to catch it....I think you only get three chances to catch it. I hooked it three times, failed all three times and then tried fishing 10 more times and didn't see it again.

      Look out for the fishing event called "Mystery of the Pond" or something like that, which tells you that a mystery is at the bottom of the pond. That's when I bagged my Goddess' Massenger, at least.

    Another tip "x colored flower seeds" are a fat lie. It gives you random flowers everytime and hardly ever matches the color you plant. So just plant them all however whenever mix and match. I'm sure the seeds probably give you an increased chance at the color flowers you plant but I never noticed/really had that happen.

    • @BriskyPenguin

      @@easynametopronounce9533 there's a little subquest later in the game that you need the silverfish for. It took me forever to catch one cause they only spawn in the gold fish icon, and even then I kept getting Gold and Platinum fish instead. If you don't care about the quests in the monastery then you can sell the fish, but renown(I think that's how you spell it) is more important than gold.
