- A playthough of Konami's 1993 license-based platformer for the Super Nintendo, Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose.
Played through on the "challenge" difficulty mode.
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose was one of several games Konami created based on the popular cartoon franchise, and it was very well received - so well, in fact, that Nintendo Power magazine awarded it the cover story of the March 1993 issue.
The game is a fairly standard action-platformer with a few neat wrinkles to keep things interesting. Buster can blaze around stages, sometimes at near-Sonic speeds, as long as his dash gauge is charged. While dashing, he can also scale sheer vertical surfaces, which comes in handy for finding hidden power-ups and allowing for last minute saves after mistimed jumps.
The stages have a surprising amount of variety to them (I absolutely loved the football stage!), and the bosses are pretty creatively designed - fights like the one where you have to feed Dizzy Devil until he passes out make for a big step up from bosses in the earlier Tiny Toon games.
The graphics and sound are classic Konami all the way - the tunes are catchy and energetic, and the game pairs some excellent sprite-work with regular use of mode 7 effects for things like sprite rotation and scaling. As they did in Turtles in Time and The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Konami's attention to detail manages to stitch the presentation together in a way that elevates the experience well beyond that of the typical SNES platformer. Despite the limitations of the SNES hardware, Buster Busts Loose effectively brings the cartoon to life.
It's not a long or difficult game (I remember beating it on the hardest difficulty level over a weekend rental when it first came out, and I was only ten), but it really has stuck with me over the years. If you can appreciate a good license-based game, Buster Busts Loose is certainly one of the better ones that you'll find on the SNES.

Im 33 now and remember playing this game as a kid, damn time flies
Bro I’m turning 34 today, this was one of my favorite game 😢
Life really is short 😢
I remember getting stuck at the Taz character, because I didn't realize that I had to feed him to beat the level.. lol Miss the '90s!
Yea, me too.. I kicked him like 150 times and was starting to wonder what was going on..
Loved the little Back to the Future reference when the railroad cart speeds off leaving flames behind at 88 mph.
This was one of my favorite games on the SNES. I played and replayed it numerous times. The music is my favorite aspect about it.
I loved this game growing up. I use to play the football level multiple times, it wasn't very hard but fun as hell.
agree! i never got past the one after the ballons tho. I was only like 7 years old at the time tho
Same here man!
This was one of my favorite SNES games when I was younger too
Wasn’t very hard ??? Talk to my 6 year old self
My dad would often take me every other weekends in the 90s to video rentals. Games were available as well. Tried THIS game a couple of times and I couldn't make it past the 2nd level! Lol.
I could barely make it past the first level with dizzy!
My English was VERY LIMITED at the time. Born in Los Angeles to parents from Jalisco, 🇲🇽 . So I spent a good amount of time stomping dizzy....and ACCIDENTALLY feeding him sometimes.
I would have saved myself 40 minutes on the first level!!
That plus Donkey Kong Country was just released when I tried this game and it was so much easier.....plus MORE COOL.
My dad was barely able to afford a game system for us. He was barely making ends meet at the time. For my mother, sister, and a brother.
And....the only reason he ever got a game system was because he HIMSELF, wanted to play Ken Griffey Jr presents Major League Baseball!!! Lol.
He was in his 20s at the time
(Parents were born in 1969 , 1970. I came into this world in 1989, then my siblings 1992, 1993)
And I remember seeing him play every once in while when he would come from work.
He couldn't afford to get us ALL or a good amount of games , so he would take us to Blockbuster.
It would be for my birthdays or Christmas that he would buy a game for me as a gift.
Or....I would also go to our neighbors' homes in the apartment complexes we lived in(we moved at least 4 times) to play with the kid neighbors!!
Also borrow/ exchange games with classmates in elementary school for the weekend or a week. Or visit them Friday after school to play with them.
And finally, family friends' kid's birthday parties......there would a be a group of kids in the garage or in a room playing!!!
Good times 😥 😢 😭
90s
And yet again, Konami proves that they are masters of turning cartoons into great games. This one is a big step up from the already excellent NES game.
They knew what they were doing with their licences 👍
I prefer this over the genesis version due to the level variety and the over-over-over the top western level.
Hey man! Do you plan to make videos about games by Toaplan? If so, i would highly recommend you Out Zone, which is an excellent run and gun with music by Zero Wing maestro Tatsuya Uemura :D
@@Invidente7 You might like the second Game Boy game then. It had a similar western style level. The game is super hard but it's pretty good.
@@roberthanthonymartinezrive7383 Yep, but Toaplan arcades are notoriously hard, but they actually pioneered the bullet hell genre with Batsugun.
I'm 39. I never knew this existed til now. Pretty underrated I guess. Beautiful game. Real vibrant. The cartoon itself is nearly forgotten completely.
I remember having this for Christmas 1993 lol 30 years ago and still love playing it, the sound in this game is incredible and one of the things that made me want the game other than fact I liked tiny toons, I also loved busters hidden treasure on the megadrive too again great sound track, these games were solid and playable for ages, lol that runaway train level was awesome also a source of much frustration for a 10 year old kid 😂 getting the dash timed right took skill and destroying the train in a certain time limit before you got killed lol....that's playability.
Honestly, the best game made off of the cartoon, in my opinion. Being a huge fan of the show back in the day, this was everything I could have wanted in a Tiny Toon game. Lots of characters and references from the show, graphics that looked about as close to the show as possible at the time, and just a real understanding of the franchise. You can tell Konami put a lot of effort behind this one.
it is very good, but I think Buster Hidden treasure is better
This one and tiny toons nes.
I think Bookworm has more screentime in this game than he did in the actual show.
Those thugs with "YALE" sweaters are hilarious. :D
Thank you so much for posting this throwback so many memories I watched the entire video! Definitely the best game
They're Tiny, they're Toony, they're all a little Loony and they're invading your SNES this Summer. Help Buster Bunny bust through over 5 wacky toon themed levels in this no holds bard game as you barrel down the gridiron to score a touch down, or catch yourself that train. Yes its Buster Busts Loose and its only for you only from Konami for the SNES. Now you're playing with Super Power.
Buster Bunny Is A Male 🐰♂
I miss tiny toons adventures.
They’re coming back.
@@josh6453 really?
@@Willydiaz3791 Look it up.
This brought back a lot of fond memories, thanks so much
Good old times when licensed games were mostly good.
This game is full of charming from the 90s and Konami.
Maybe it wasn't a new ip but the power of Konami, built a solid and fantastic game.
Konami did Warner Bros, Capcom did Disney and both company back then were humble and really made original game based movie or series
Mostly good? Even back then, licensed games were mostly bad, it's just that your mind cherrypicks the good ones.
I couldn’t get the timing on the train right to dash and jump lol
I played this several times and I loved how different stages were. The only complaint is the lack of characters, besides minigames. In both NES games you could play as other characters.
28:13, damn look at the YAC of 57 yards on that play! Impressive!
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video
The whole soundtrack is amazing, what a Master piece
The music from the haunted mansion level has just lived, rent free, in my head since childhood.
First game I got for my Snes (which came with Super Mario World of course) loved this game so much and still do. Loving the cartoon helped too
Those were my first 2 games too
I remember these snes games to be so difficult and find lots of youtube videos ending the games in under one hour haha
Good game based on a classic cartoon. Rented this one several times as a kid!
I had this game way back. Beat it then some kids of my dads friend came to our house and stole it. I knew it was them but they had already left. I didnt even know them. This is why I vowed to never let anyone in my house or lend games to anyone from then on. Had a couple snes games stolen or never given back.
i was in special ed class in the 4th grade and in the class there was a super nintendo, and one of the games was this game. there would be 5 kids at a time playing this game waiting for their turn. this game really brings me back. i ended up getting my own copy.
A true masterpiece. The characters, the funny story telling, the groovy soundtrack, the creativity in the gameplay, the small intermittent games, all the little love in the details. It is still mindblowing. For me one of the best, most entertaining games ever made. Konamis devs are legends
Konami did an excellent job with this game. I really enjoyed it as a kid. It's nice to know that I wasn't alone when it came to the first stage Dizzy boss...I thought I was doing something wrong. I feel that the game was meant for teenagers and up given the difficulty. I'm glad they had the EASY option, but a LOT of stages and portions of stages were omitted, and the game punished you by not giving you the proper ending for it. The bonus games, especially the Bingo and Weight games were fun as hell, too! I still enjoy them, and I'm 39!
One of my favorite games as a kid i wish they would put it on the switch with the other older games they got on there. Would love to play it with my son
This is the first time I even known that this game even existed I grew up watching tiny towns I love the haunted Mansion level
I remember beating this game as a kid. Good memories
15:57 they snuck a Back to the Future reference
Never noticed the 88mph speed reached to outrun the train before!
Definitely an underrated SNES game.
Yeah totally, played this all the time when i was 6, this game had no business being this great lol
So many memories. Thanks.
I remember renting this and beating it over a weekend, and being very impressed with the Star Wars stage. It stinks that these licensed games just have to get abandoned to time and don't get brought forward to modern hardware like their original IP cousins.
That dash mechanic really sold this game. I played this shit all the time when i was 6
one of my favorite games as a kid along with animaniacs, ninja turtles, super mario of course, warrior tetris, royal rumble wrestling and need for speed just to name a few
Loved this game as a kid
My fucking childhood just came running back to me. Thank you so much for this.
Of course the last level is the star wars parody.
ESmith All the levels were a parody of something that's basically what the cartoon was for the most.
ESmith really i don’t think i ever got past the first level as a kid 😂 i watch a lot of games on youtube i use to play as a kid and i’m like wow i never knew they had this level or you can do this cuz when i was like 5-8 playing super nintendo i would never get to far n some games and then not all of them had save or maybe i didn’t know how to
Sprite work is EXCELLENT.
Oh man its about 20 years since i have Seen this game brings back childhood memories when there was Nothing but me my Friends and a NES Game
15:56 Hah! I love that “Back to the Future 3” reference with the train. 🤣
I read Max’s dialogue in Danny Cooksey’s voice.
the music in this game brings me right back
this game was so good, I totally remeber the ghost house and the train level!
Great game; LOVE Tiny Toons, and Konami did such an amazing job with _all_ of these games. The company was practically second-to-none in capturing the personality of each license and making a great game out of them. I remember this one particularly fondly. Great music, and the brilliant use of Buster Bunny's Dash feature, particularly in the epic train level.
But the *football game* is what I'm _mainly_ here for. Score a TOUCHDOWN for Acme Looniversity!!!
I remember my brother and I playing this! The train level drove us crazy 😜 Fun though.
The train was too hard, I never won this Level🥴
Oh my God, yes, the train level! 🤣
Ah... I couldn't finish this game as a child. Thanks for showing me the ending!
I had this game when I was a kid. One of my favorite ones to play, though I hated the Babs and Hamton minigames.
I can’t understand why but it’s so much better than most of today’s games
Heard the Mansion BGM in a random meme video again after *TWENTY* years and still remembered the game...
Loved this game
I played this game briefly with my older sister when I was 4 or 5? I barely remember anything but for some reason those school lockers right at the beginning creeped me out. Thats it thats why I needed to find out what this game is called. Thanks for your upload
This game was so fn fun! Loved this game as a kid
I want this on SNES online

MY CHILDHOOD : ( I WAS 6 YRS WHEN I PLAYED This and im now 32 and stil a gamer :P
Haha.. I used to watch Tiny Toons with my little cousins in the late 90's. Also they loved this game as well as they had a Super Nintendo in it's final days (late 1996). Was a bit too easy for me to play it for them
First video game I ever beat love the 90’s
I have not played this game before but it is amazing!
This was my favorite game for Nintendo as a child
This was great. I remember being able to beat the last level. I would try everything. I would even almost make it to th end just from getting lucky. Just running and jumping... wondering why sometime I didn't take damage. Finally understanding to hide behind the chair throne looking thing. I was just a small kid. But finally I beat it. I also loved the football stage.
I was just a little kid as well at the time and just didn't understand the level. I didn't really know much about Star Wars, so I didn't know this was space. I thought it was some Earth level taking place at night. And I thought the lasers were lightning bolts that sometimes hurt me and sometimes didn't. I looked this up to see what the deal was with that level now that I know things. Now it all makes sense to me why the "lightning" hurt me.
The train scroll levels are fantastic 😊
Did anyone else see the Back to the Future reference?
It might have been a little too on the nose, but it would have been cool if the end of the level actually had a mock-up of the Delorean rather than that rail car. Still a fun parody though.
Excelentes recuerdos de infancia!
I loved the soundtrack from castle level 19:30 it has a similar tune like the Castlevania games, not surprised to realize it was made by Konami.
This took me forever to beat, but it was fun. 🤩
I used a lot of the soundtrack in my RUclips videos. Great game and great show!
They should've either made this longer or more difficult, still a fun game
The mini games were amazing
everybody saying they loved this game but for me i had nothing but nightmares and the music still gives me ptds to this day
Wonder why?
I Love Tiny Toon Adventures ❤️
THIS GAME IS MY CHILDHOOD OH MY THE NOSTALGIA
Babs Bunny 🐰
Babs Bunny Is A Girl 🐰👧
I don't know why but that welcome sign in the castle at the start, I always thought it said Shawn Michaels since he had his name similar to that logo lol
love this game
34:22--"I got'cha, Buster, yup yup yup!"
Ordered this the other day. It's supposed to arrive next week.
NES version is a decent game too. Back to 90s mostly licensed-base games were well made by Japanese developers.
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! for the Super Nintendo, from early 1993 is based on the Amblin Entertainment/Warner Bros. animated TV series Tiny Toon Adventures, off of Fox Kids in the early 90's during the show's 3rd season (1992-93).
I have been playing this game for like 24 years and I’ve never even done half as well as you have in football
I could never get past the train part as a kid 😭
So many memories ❤️
I rented this game so many times
Beat this game on a rental too, but found it to be plenty of fun!
Same
Why the hell did they make this game easy but Animaniacs hard as balls?
I forgot how cool and wild was the back to the futur western ride and the star wars stage , i was lucky enough to get the nes version after selling it, i buy the snes versions, as a kid i was so happy, this versions is really an eye candy it's amazing the numbers of easter egg reference to the cartoon, but what i like the most is the fantastic soundtrack, today i get my hand on second hand megadrive version, it's really cool and well made too but by far the Snes version is the best.
This game had a pretty weird difficulty/password system. I've never seen any other game where the passwords are only given if you play on easy, or a game that actually omits levels and sections of levels on easy.
Around 16:00 that's a nice homage to BTTF3
I can imagine this game and the animaniacs game getting a double port to Switch or a special remaster of both
this game was so much fun as a kid. and the funny thing is i wasnt even a fan of tiny toons like that. it was just a great game
Rental for me, but I do remember really liking it. Good ol' pre-insanity Konami.
Man good memories 😊
playing this game as a kid, the most difficult part was the train I almost never could dash in time or get nervous and fall lol if I play it now I probably beat it easy.
I loved all the tiny toon games. My favorite the Sega one. I never liked that they nerfed busters speed with the dash bar in this game. That's probably why my favorite level is the football one. You can go all out. The Sega one never gave you room to full sprint except the Elmyra stage. Loved the mini games in this one
This looks better than BTTF 2 & 3 on NES(sorry to remind you painful memories).
I played a Tiny Toon game on the Game Boy Color. But i don’t remember the exact title.
Nice gameplay, NC.
Hahaha yes, it's quite good. You should try it out if you haven't played it before.
NintendoComplete If only i had a SNES...
@@luciebureau6815 emulator ;)
I remember I´ve got this game on my birthday. It was a saturday or sunday and I startet playing in the early morning. I beat the game during the first day. I was a bit sad that it was such short, but I loved the graphics and the various features. Later I used a cheat code to choose the stage. Then I played very often the Football- and the Squash-Game.
I played also "Tiny Toons" for Gameboy. It was a different game, but really good, too.
Great cartoon and great game.
Love the BTTF reference lol
How do you come up with all these moves without spending a hundred years? Good thing I gave up jumping rope in Cowboy Town before it got really frustrating.
