Batman Returns (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- Опубликовано: 30 сен 2024
- A playthrough of Konami's 1993 licensed movie-tie in beat 'em up, Batman Returns.
Played through on the Mania difficulty level, no continues used.
Konami was on such an amazing hot streak in the early 90s, and this game came right at the height of it. This is an incredible adaptation of a smash-hit movie, with loads of cinematics and digitzed stills straight from the movie, music that sounded as close to the recorded score as any form of synthesis could ever hope to, and game play that nails the accessibility and intuitiveness of the Final Fight brawling system. One of the best beat 'em ups on the SNES, and one of the best movie tie-in games I ever remember playing.

Michael Keaton was the best batman ever!
He looks pretty badass on the ending screen
i'm glad I'm not the only 1 who thinks he was the best 1
Frank White, I Completely Agree!! No one Played Batman Like Michael Keaton.🦇🦇
@@troyandrew7443 Michael Keaton IS BATMAN!
Michael Keaton ranks right up with the late Adam West, Christian Bale, George Clooney and Val Kilmer.
Grabbing two clowns and headnuttin' each other is one of the most memorable moves I know from Batman. Timeless class game
There really aren't words to describe how good this game is. It looks really sharp, the music does amazing things with the SNES's sound chip, and it plays like Final Fight.
IMO, this is the only Batman game to ever match the awesomeness of Sunsoft's Batman on the NES.
NintendoComplete the genesis version of adventures of batman & robin was also as good as sunsoft batman in my opinion.
NintendoComplete this game is pretty bad ass along with Batman the arcade version . Tim burton and Danny Elfman would be proud
I don't know why they went with Acclaim for Batman Forever (was complete shit) after Konami did such a great job with this.
It's my 2nd favorite beat em up after Turtles in Time. Yeah, I like those more than Final Fight or Streets of Rage.
lol are you serious? this game is not the best batman game at all
I remember being at a Babbages back in 96-97 and my mom said I could get a game that was 10 dollars so I looked in the used game bin and saw a copy of this game for $9.99. There was no box or manual. I bought it unaware at how awesome it was. Brought it home and absolutely loved it.
SuperJumpReviews that feeing of bringing home a new game and exceeding your expectations
That is the exact same memory I have! Same year too! Weird
@@vodafella And who would've thought 25 years later I would be here sharing my experience on youtube haha.
Yup in 96 97 this game was already old by then. What a hell of a surprise you had that day getting this bad ass game. 👍👍
@@steveafanador6441 It was definitely the highlight of my week😂good memories
My mother was going to buy me Mortal Kombat for Christmas in 1993, but she got me Batman Returns instead when I pointed out to her that it was $30 at the time at Toys 'R' Us, and I'd already talked about what a great looking game it was. Do I regret that decision? Not a bit!
I got MK for Christmas in 1993. I bought this game as an adult about 10 years ago and it is pretty awesome (also my favorite Batman movie). I am a huge Final Fight fan, and the game mechanics are very similar.
Colin D They are indeed, and being a Final Fight fan myself is a big reason I like this game so much. It’s a very well executed Final Fight clone.
You made the right choice.
The super Nintendo was a magical system. Nothing comes close 👍👍
One of the most fun beat-em-up's from the old days and one of the better Batman games up to this day! Thanks so much for the upload! Love your longplays!
Thanks!
Nostalgia is dangerous drug
@@marcbelo7301 I know!! how can you compare this game with Arkham
@@marcbelo7301 How? This game is still fun to play and holds up pretty well.
I owned this as a kid, I absolutely loved it, it is the most satisfying beat-em-up ever, ever, I still play it on my real hardware via flash cart, still the same feeling.
I remember my dad and I used to take turns seeing who could get the furthest in this. Good times.
"A penguin is a bird that cannot fly! I am a human being, and I have a name..... Oswald Cobblepot!"
"Mr. Cobblepot, you'll never get a chance to settle up with them, huh?"
@@Sigma0283 "I was their number one son, and they treated me like number two! But it's human nature to fear the unusual. When they saw me holding my baby rattle with a shiny flipper instead of 5 chubby digits, they freaked. But I forgive them."
Not to be confused with Chester Copperpot.
Wow this game is kind of like Final fight and graphics on this game is bad ass
Uh dude final fight has a cartoon alike graphics, the graphics in this one is realistic tho
shut the fuck up
I watched the movie the other night and all I could think about was this game
I rented this back in April 1993. My favorite was throwing enemies up into walls and windows or walking between two of them and smashing their heads together. I remember GamePro giving this 5.0 (their highest rating) in all their categories. Very few games got that. And who else knew to shoot the grapnel gun at the wall behind the first boss and hit him with a piece of it like he did in the movie?
Funny as it might be, I’m a 2000s kid but I grew up playing all the old N64 and SNES games. This was one of my favorites, along side with Mario 64, Legend of Zelda and the Ocarina of Time, and Majora’s Mask, Top gear, and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Some of the best games ever
I had this Game, & this was the Best Batman Game Ever Made!! I really Enjoyed the Gameplay & Graphics. & The Storyline Tied Right into the Movie. Just a Wonderful Game.🦇🎮🦇
Not easy trying to find games that play like this one this is truly a special game always will be.
This Game is Not Bad Back in the day
Keaton is a Batman legend.
I really like how, on top of being just a damn fine game, this one tries as hard as it can to show that Konami did their homework on the movie, with more than a few enemies being straight pulls from the movie - not just bosses, even! - and doing quite an excellent job of porting the story itself to the game (seriously, that intro is GREAT; it sounds in parts like Konami put some notes from the script itself into it, and looks like a fun trailer even if they didn't). Heck, they even let you replicate that trick Batman pulls in the movie with the Stungun Clown that serves as this game's first boss; use your grappling hook on the wall behind him at the start of the fight and you'll pull part of the concrete into his head for massive damage. Good stuff all around. =3
I remember how impressed I was with the graphics improvements since the nes batman.. I was 10 years old and I remember waking up on Saturday thinking im the batman and playing this game.. good old times lol
This is an excellent game! Deep combat system, shows story and actual photos of the characters. Good replay value. Very fun.
I love this movie and game. ^_^
I still remember when my mom bought this for me from Toy R Us; back when you grabbed the slip for the game you wanted and they gave you the cartridge at the cash register. My mom had no idea how violent this game would be! LOL Such good memories!
I love the SNES beat em up games. I had this one , maximum carnage , power rangers etc. great times as a kid.
I remember playing this game. The Keaton movies were so dark and awesome.
So true.
What a great game. They made excellent use of the hardware. With those detailed graphics, cinematic soundtrack and crunching SFX it was like an arcade beat 'em up for at home! 30 years old and still good looking, such classics never get old!
One of my favorite Christmas games! I will do a playthrough this season :)
Back in the day, I had always played on Sega Genesis. This was the first SNES game I ever played and I was BLOWN AWAY at how good the sound was in comparison to the Genesis games I was playing at the time.
This was one of the better Batman games way before the Arkham series.
KONAMI ANTES ERA ESPECTACULAR CON SUS LANZAMIENTOS
JUEGAZO BATMAN RETURNS

Man, this looks a whole heck of a lot more fun than Batman Forever.
Such awesome music in this game. I remember playing this game as a kid.
The Super Nintendo version was the best version of Batman Returns. Better than the one on Sega CD.
*HANDS DOWN = THE BEST BATMAN GAME, EVER MADE*
So was Batman Genesis.
@@rileynelson6624 - *NOOOOO*
NES is better. NOW LEAVE ME
What an excellent job, Konami. Played it in 1998. One of my best childhood memories.
The Konami jingle at startup brings back many memories of the early 90's!
I had a Konami Ninja Turtles handheld LCD back in the day.
Man, they really amped up Batman's strength for this game, lol, he's tossing fat clowns around like they're ragdolls. Must be some new tech in the suit or something.
I think it's Clark Kent in his Cosplay phase. "Wonder what it's like to be Batman"
@YellowBlanka He can even take hits from exploding rockets and get back up as if nothing happened. Imagine if that was actually true in the original story, what would that be like in your own words?
That makes sense, because the Batsuit in Batman Returns is more comfortable and easier to move in than the one from 1989.
5 ft 8 keaton had some strength!! Ha
@@mikeadams7904 The strongest man ever recorded, Louis Cyr, was 5'9" - his recorded feats include holding several men on his back on a board, holding back four draft horses and holding hundred point weights away from his body in a "crucifix" motion. Apparently he pulled a farmer's wagon and horse out of the mud single-handedly when he was 13.
Back when movie tie in games actually had a decent chance of being good.
I love this game. I always thought it had the best punching sound effects of any video game.
Wow. A whole *4 minute prologue* before you even GET to a select screen. That's incredibly indulgent. It's a damn good thing that the game that follows is worth the wait.
Or you can just skip it.
God that intro still gives me the chills like it did back then
Elfman was the man!
It's amazing how Konami had these talented composers that basically absorbed the Elfman soundtrack and put out sets of new tracks based on it like they used a new language.
A masterpiece of orchestrated music on 16-bit. I wish some of these scores were upscaled and put into Burton's film.
childhood memories.........so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite retro Batman game of all time. I play this game all the time during my spare time and I had a blast beating up clowns. This nailed the movie right down to the letter T
Couldn’t agree more from adding in cutscenes with the pictures of the actors in the film to the soundtrack also. One of my favorite games on the SNES as a kid and still love it.
@ 9:22 i think you can fire one of Batmans weapons at the wall causing some concrete to come out and smack the bad guy in the back of the head.
The grapple... I was honestly upset that a walkthrough doesnt show that!
Superb soundtrack and sound effects.
They actually managed to translate the Danny Elfman score fairly well onto the SNES, impressed.
this blows away the genesis version. the computational superiority of the snes is apparent , the music , colors , sprite detail are all beyond the genesis's capabilities
I missed my snes game console. This was one of the best games I ever played on my snes.
Definitely my favorite growing up. I also owned Batman Forever unfortunately haha. I'd also like to add when you fight the first boss you can use your grapple hook to shoot at the wall and pull of piece of it to fling into the guy right at the start. Nice little nod to the movie!
God this was so epic.. the music brings me straight back!
Great video, one question about the gameplay though, how the heck do you do the flying cape attack every time? When I jump and attack I usually do a jump kick but sometimes do the cape attack.
Nvm found out you press D+Y in the air
Batman Forever is way better than Returns... Said no one ever.
I'd give up all of streaming services for a year for just one weekend of being 10 again and playing all these games again for the first time!
oooh.. you missed the part to use the hook to the wall against the stungun clown just like in the movie
This game is, without question, a great game.
I actually remember having the chance to get this game for Christmas one year, but I chose a different game all together. Looking back, I do kind of regret it, but I was able to rent the game in the Summer of '97. Needless to say, I had a great time with this game. Everything about this game is great, from the music, to the graphics, to the way Batman can throw his enemies against the wall.
This game's font format looks like Monster in my pocket nes game
when I was a kid I was always wanted Batarang ^^
Damn streets of rage batman style very nice
Still remember the first time I played this game. First game that felt like it had CD audio quality.
The music especially like in the intro is just great. They’re basically remixes from the movie, but sound awesome.
Probably the best movie to game console video game ever. Even using music from Danny Elfman
50:50
Michael Keaton Batman: "You are the true Dark Knight."
Christian Bale Batman: "Hold my Batbeer." 🦇😂
When you’re saving Selena from the clown withe the taser to clear scene one you can actually shoot Batman’s spearhead rope on the wall and pull the wall into the back of the clowns head just like in the movie, although it doesn’t defeat him like in the movie... just sayin🤷🏽♂️
I know Batman Returns for SEGA Mega Drive 2. Very good game, with special music, in 1996 played. How many warm memories)) Still relevant, though 16 bits)))
I had this game. I enjoyed it soo much. I remember this game gave me a tough time trying to beat but i managed to complete it. I seemed to remember having a tough time with catwoman cause she was so dang fast
Michael Keaton ( Batman) also meets his " Batman Returns" girlfriend Michelle Pfeiffer ( Catwoman).
0:33 Is it me, or does that kind of sound like Mother Brain from Super Metroid?
Well I can't unhear that now lol
48:07 At last Batman gets his rim job.
Oh, there is so much nostalgia tied to this game, it basically helped get me through the 6th grade. I basically blew most of age 12 playing this game and the NES one, it's also the second best Batman movie ever made and is only a tad behind the first one with Michael Keaton. They messed up big when they fired Tim Burton and brought in Joel Schumacker, he basically turned the franchise into a lame gay joke.
Such a boring game when I played this as a child. Same thing over and over. Just beating up 100's of dudes. Very little skill involved. I remember being disappointed and never finishing the game.
Yahoo I did it I beat the game of Teenage mutant ninja Turtles fighter Tournament on snes and I did it 48 Times.
Video game boss fights that are more suspenseful than what happens in the actual movie, even if they make about as much sense.

The only thing that would make this game better would be Co-op, like in Final Fight.
Robin ?
Ah, memories
IMO, This BATMAN Game Would've Been a Lot Better if Batman had Robin by His Side
Konami should've made Marlon Wayans' unused depiction of Robin as a Player 2 co-op/versus character.
Oh one more thing used a grapple hook swing over the or dodge the Rockets on Batman Returns on snes.

This game features the most physically powerful batman ever, he not only picks up clowns that must weigh 400 pounds but slams them, legs trailing from the air back to the ground...with one hand.
