The first time I heard this song, the bagpipes coming in at the chorus made me tear up. It was unexpected - and a timeless, forlorn sound. It always sends shivers up my back even today. You have to know that he sings this to Linda, and that she smiles through us all. To have lived in this time is a gift. We can never take music like this for granted. God bless you Sir Paul. You've given us so much.

My sentiments exactly James . When the bagpipes start skirling in the second part of the song ,
it gets my Highlander blood coursing through my veins yearning to see more Highlander pipers and drummers
coming down from the mulls and through the glens . Whenever I listen to " Mull of Kintyre " ,
I always visualize the events in Paul and Linda's life leading up to the creation of this song's recording and its videos .
I always remember the story about how Paul got the Campbelltown Pipe Band involved to record the song
at his Spirit of Ranachan Studio on his farm which is located just a few miles northwest up the hill from Campbelltown .
I always remember about how the video was filmed at Saddell Beach near the castle on the bay
when the Campbelltown Pipe Band comes marching along the beach to meet with up Paul and his two Wings .
I will never forget the first time I heard the song when it was first released to the radio air waves in 1977 .
I was already a Beatleologist by 1977 but I remember when my friends and I heard the song for the first time .
We thought it was one of the most beautiful songs ever written . Nothing has changed 44 years hence .
It's still one of the best songs ever written ...
and I think that Beatle fans of Celtic descent probably feel the same way .
Those bagpipes and drums of The Campbelltown Pipe Band really made the song in 1977 ... and ...
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Pipe Band really made the song 39 years hence
when Paul performed the song in Hamilton , Ontario in 2016 .
To see one of the three videos which accompanied the release of the song's recording back in November 1977 ,
      go to this webpage at " www.mullofkintyre.org/mullofkintyre.html " .
Peace and good health to you ... Miles from Canada .

I saw Paul McCartney in Regina Saskatewan, during Mull of Kintyre the Regina Marching Bagpipe band came out on the instrumental just like this. It was a moment to remember, every hair on the back of my neck stood up. Fantastic.

Soooo sad, when the camera pans across the stage during intro and - no Linda.
Weeping. Imagining what must be going through Paul's heart as he sings this; living at the Mull with the love of his life, writing this song for JUST THAT PERIOD in his life...

Linda was a lovely lady . The refrain of " Mull of Kintyre " was played by a single piper
at the beginning of the funeral service for Linda McCartney back in June 1998 .

Sang this at home, as a child. My family were and continue to be very musical. I repatriated to another country in my 20s, I loved my home very much, so the lyrics mean a bit more to me now. GOSH, I do love those bagpipes! Great piece of composition and art. Thanks for such a great piece of music artistry. (Thankfully, I at least have an ocean view!).

This only gets played 'live' in two countries...Scotland,and Canada, and I was one of the fortunate ones to see it played in Halifax,N.S.,a few years back. The reaction was indescribable...and fortunately,it was filmed as a pay-per-view,before the 'Good Evening,New York City' show, shortly afterwards.Halifax was the warm-up gig for that show, and it was superb. Two hours and forty minutes of magic.

His Auckland NZ concert seemed a little better, must have gotten his voice back, but this song has to be seen live to believe, its amazing. Its at the end of a concert of 39 songs, well worth the $$ if he tours again. The drummer he toured with in 2017 was insane, the bald guy at the beginning.
