Absolutely brilliant. And how impressive are the WA Police Pipe Band - who was the girl playing the bass drum? What a clip for her showreel. Mull of Kintyre brought tears to my eyes. A keeper - wish I'd been there.
AND, Nisha is cute, too !! She has a nice little body groove going there. I've yet to see a bad version of this song performed by anybody that's come on the stage with Paul.
Glad to be able to say that I was there that night. Sang and cried all the way through. The concert went on for hours, Paul is so generous with his time.
No matter what nationality you are...everyone has a personal Mull of Kintyre in his heart...a place full of memories, old atmospheres and old people a place of love. That's why this songs gets people emotional.
I'm Australian with Scottish ancestors my Tartan is the Sinclair all my Scottish ancestors migrated to Australia on their free will. This song was played at my late Aunty June's funeral on November 2016. It bought tears to my eyes. My late Dad sent away to Scotland every year for the Scottish Field Calendar right up to his passing in 1978. I think you can still get Scottish Field Calendars probably online. Many blessings to you 🙏🙏🙏....Pete from Tasmania here in Australia.
I'm an American, in Florida, but I once had the privilege to live in Scotland for a month. Hearing this really makes the tears flow, and I'm crying like a nut.😢
Its always been a song I loved since 1975 when it was released. I was there too on Sat night and while deep down I wished Paul would sing it, I thought it was probably too out of kilter for a live concert. When Paul started strumming the first notes I got goose bumps and just could not believe it. When the Police Band marched on with the Pipes and Drums I was beside my self. It was too much to believe. All around me people had tears in their eyes and were singing along, as did I. Here I am at 60, still moved by a Beatle - Paul truly gives to his fans...
@@robertte3320 I know exactly how you felt. I was there too. It was a highly emotional experience. I'm 67, and felt l was with the timeline of my adult life. One of the loveliest, and most talented men to walk this earth.
I am of German decent living in America . However I just have always loved this song. A song about a place , a memory of childhood , PRICELESS . Thanks Paul for playing this live.
The girl on the bass drum, at 14, was superb. Professional, musical, disciplined ... all while playing in front of thousands of people for Sir Paul. They were all wonderful, but I hope that girl goes on to a wonderful career in music. Thank you WA Police Pipe Band.
She's perfect, and particularly because she doesn't crack a smile until it's done. The whole time they're playing, she just does this deadpan look to camera as if to say 'this is a bit of alright, isn't it?'
Holds a special place. My eldest son was two when it was released . Every time it came on the radio he’d run to me “pipes daddy, pipes” .it will stay with me forever!!
Paul has given us all so much. I'm so glad he's still entertaining us at 78 years old. Mull of Kintyre brings tears to me every time. What a wonderful gift to Scots worldwide who treasure our ancestral homeland and revere it's music.
Grew up standing on a milk crate playing an imaginary guitar in the snow in Edinburgh. 7/8 years old and to this day it takes me back to gods country 🏴
I have a fair amount of Scots blood in me, although I've never been to Scotland. There's something about bagpipes that always brings a tear to my eye. The beautiful simplicity of this song is amazing. Thank you Sir Paul.
This is my favorite song of all time. Great job everyone!! You can tell Paul was thinking of Linda God rest her soul. Once again awesome job Australia love you so much!!
Obviously I am not of Scottish descent but these bagpipes always tugged my heart strings... It is worthwhile to note that in Malaysia where I live, the Police Band, the St John's school band and many others still have very good bagpipes in their make up. One of the Sikh organization's bagpipers, actually won a international bagpipe competition in Scotland...Thanks, Sir Paul
Yep. If you take any single criterion, there's probably somebody who can beat him - Elvis might have had more Number Ones, Michael Jackson might have shifted more units, Mozart was technically a better composer, and so on. But if you factor all those things together - number one singles, number one LPs, millions (billions?) of records sold, cultural impact, songs written that have been covered by hundreds of different artists, being a Beatle, Mull of Kintyre, length of career, wealth generated by that career - by any reasonable measure, this is surely the most successful musician who ever lived.
This song makes me homesick , makes me want to go back home to Scotland.. But I'm here in Glasgow ,doing some work in the house..lol... Love from Scotland..
I'm not meaning to make light of your friend, but Happy Birthday to them You KNEW them. I didn't. That's the best, besides, "it DOES hurt, doesn't it?, and I'm sorry", but, I'm GLAD to have KNOWN those, I've lost.
As soon as those pipes started I got goosebumps, when I was at junior school a mate of mines dad (who was Scottish) used to play the pipes in our local churchyard...all dressed in his kilt etc...loved the sound then love the sound now 50 years on....Happy days...
I live in the States and I hope one day that I can hear Sir Paul perform this song here. My family has Scotch/Irish heritage and I'm very proud of that.
Thanks for posting! This music came from Heaven! I love it! It makes me cry whenever I hear it, missing a place I have never been, existing only in my dreams but full of peace and joy. Paul is the best ever!
What a special video. I was at this amazing, life fulfilling concert. I thought l'd died and gone to heaven, to be in this beautiful man's company . Something l had dreamed of since the '60s. Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow, for all that Paul had been rightly lauded I think his unique musical genius is still underappreciated. He's a savant. It's not just hard work and talent with Paul, it's not that he's a trained and skilled musician. He thinks music. His tunes are always melodic and memorable but that's just the sheen of the song, there's always lots of interesting twists underneath. It's both highly eccentric and highly entertaining at the same time, something that rarely happens. Usually if you've got some avant garde piece of art it's a trudge to get through. Thanks for all the wonder, Sir Paul!
I just recently came across this song. It has quickly become one of my favorites and I love it. When the pipers kick in I can feel my heart swell and fill with peace
My all time favourite song. I first heard this song when I was six years old, way back in 1977. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. It was the first song I ever learned off by heart. So many great childhood memories come flooding back every time I hear it. Well done, sir paul. And a big shoutout to the young lady on the bass drum. I wish you lots of luck for your future. I'll bet your parents are extremely proud of you.
I keep coming back to this just to see the smile on that young girls face. My granddaughter Lucinda had the same smile when I showed her this. Top Shelf
Beautiful! Why don't Paul's live songs get more likes. It's ridiculous. He's a Universal treasure! God bless Paul and anyone who celebrates his miraculous gifts. Thank you for positing this.
Hi to all from Alabama in central Alabama 🇺🇸. I love watching Paul and his group do this great song 👏🏻🥰‼️ Second, I love it by Glen Campbell in May of 1981. He does it justice too.
Im not Scottish or ever been to Scotland but this song gets me every time. Such a beautiful tune, it brings a tear to my eye. Paul is such an amzing composer. Its a modern tune that sounds ancient.
