I’m sure if he tried to use any of the original song it would be taken down, in seconds, so a little singing, great, it’s his choice. If you record a cover song too well algorithms only says it the actual song and remove, it even if you object, which I guess is a great compliment. I should have known better. At least I got it on Vimto
Thank you sooo much. I love seeing how places have changed from what they looked like years ago…whether in a music video or somewhere in history! Again…THANKS!!
SO NICE!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love how you split the "Then / Now" screen, and showed McCartney sitting in the fence playing guitar......then with Denny Lane.....the Bagpipers....I'd never seen any of that.....then photos with his children.....WOW!!! You were right there! So bloody cool (as you might say) but the little house looked like it had a fresh coat of paint on it.....the red trim looked fresh too.....those guys in the beginning - maybe did it. I gotta hand it to ya, guy, you've taken me to parts tonight I've never been. SO GLAD I found you and your love for MCCA!!! Me too, friend, me too. Thank you SO SO MUCH! ~♡~♡~♡~
i am Scotish I lived in Campbeltown on the Mull of Kintire Paul and Linda bought a farm there My home town pipe band played the music I still love the music I played it at my sons funeral Everybody was crying
Loved that wee video ... it brought back happy memories of queuing in the cold at the Apollo in Glasgow for tickets for Wings in the late 70's ... and having a great time at the gig! Everyone just left their seats in the stalls and headed for the front! It also brought back memories of great holidays in Carradale, a wee fishing village about 3 miles north of Saddel. Many years passed and then I remember seeing Paul and his band at Hampden in Glasgow .... just pure dead brilliant, so it was!
This was a delight to hear about and see. I used the song to play at my dad’s memorial, and have since found out that along with being mostly Irish, he was Scottish as well❤️😉
Wow. I had never seen the video before. I have a friend who lives in Saddell, I've been on that beach and walked around there, when I was visiting him. That's so cool.
Kintyre is in the Highlands - it is part of Argyll and Bute, which is north and/or west of the HIghland boundary fault line - so althought it is geographically south of some parts of central Scotland which are clearly not in the Highlands, such as Glasgow or Edinburgh, it is definitely in the Highlands.
thanks for sharing! I visited a few of these spots on a trip. Used the a proper camera instead of my phone for nicer pictures. Well that SD card was stolen and I ended up losing all those pictures. Including pictures of me with the baton (I think that's what it's called) used by the leading piper.
I USE TO LIVE IN PENINVER COTTAGE IN THE MID 70'S. JUST THINKNG ABOUT THE LIGHTHOUSE MAKES ME WANT TO RETURN TO THE MULL. MACHRIHANISH BEACH WAS NICE AND WALKING OUT TO THE ISLAND DURING LOW TIDE TO SEE THE PAINTING OF CHRIST ON A CAVE WALL. THE ENTIRE AREA IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE ,,, VERY PEACEFUL PLACE WITH GOOD PEOPLE. I THINK THE KINTYRE PUB ON MAIN STREET MIGHT BE CLOSED NOW. ENJOYED THE VIDEO
@@Fludded Great to meet you on here! When this whole pandemic thing comes to an end, I plan on visiting Scotland. Had plans to go in March of 2020 (was supposed to help rebuild Boleskine House) and then the shit hit the fan, with covid. I'm still heartbroken over this. Hope to be over soon. I would give anything to hike with ya.
There is a close up of him in the video - handsome chap - and he looked after Paul McC's dugs ! ( dogs) . He appears 2 min 59 sec to 3 min 01 sec in , in the Wings Video. He worked in Campbeltown for a year or two before moving to Mauchline for the rest of his career.
Back in 1977 age 14 when I first heard this song:-Mull Of Kintyre and I thought there was a place called Mull Of Kintyre in Scotland. I ask my music teacher and I said Mr Crofts is there a place called Mull Of Kintyre? And he said No Errol! It's a name of a Lighthouse! And I said Wow! There's a place in Scotland called Kintyre and a place called Mull and I said Okay! I first went to Scotland 2004 and I remember singing the song while walking along the streets and One Old Lady walked in front of me and said why do like singing this song? And I said to her I like it and then she said Mull Of Kintyre is a Lighthouse and I said to her I know that my dear hehehehe.💙🤍💙And I said to her It was a Big Hit for Paul McCartney & Wings but she still don't care🤣😆😂. So I went bout my business and continue singing the song....
Its not actually the lighthouse itself... its the land the lighthouse is on. "A Mull" is a point of high land (headland) that juts out into the sea... so The Lizard in Cornwall is also a mull... of the Flamborough Head in Yorkshire... also a Mull. The word is typically only used in Scotland though. Kintyre has a Mull upon which is a lighthouse. This is handy as it's the perfect spot, usually, for them!
Hey buddy !!! ... Apparently the track from 1978 was "HIS" version of a "punk" record just slowed down !!! ... They were a brilliant band in the 70's while constantly "dogged" by criticism !!! ... But only the best band in the world at the time !!! MANY THANKS
It would have been nice if the commentator had did his homework before making the video. Kintyre is indeed in the Highlands of Scotland, even though the Peninsula runs due south towards Northern Ireland. Maybe too much in hurry to debunk the information, he got it completely wrong himself.
Hello mate, love the video 🙂 Can you remember how long the walk took from the car park to the little house? I’m doing a 4 day drive around Kintyre later this month and am finding my schedule on day 2 very packed 😀 Wanting to visit Saddell Bay and Mull of Kintyre lighthouse in the one day but timing is tight because the latest whiskey distillery tour and tasting we could get in Campbelltown is 2pm 😅 Cheers
@@Fludded it’s fine mate. Had plenty of time in the end, and your video came in real handy when walking there. It truly was a magnificent place. The drive to the Mull of Kintyre lighthouse ended up being a bust because it was closed. Couldn’t even get close to it. They could have put a sign up saying that before we drove along that long windy road 😂
Came to this on wondering which acoustic Paul used a Martin D…? and, as you, love that heavy valve compression on a strummed acoustic as I wonder what compressor LA2A/RS124? and mic U67,87,47??? and which mic position was used as it’s one of my fave sounds for a strummed acoustic. Hear it was recorded outside which is also intriguing 🙏 PS like the ADT effect on your take, is it a plug in. Enjoyed the video, struggling to see the video about the studio used?
I worked at George Martins Air Studiis for a while and the compressors we used, which I was told the Beatles also used, was amongst others the Fairchild Compresser. My recording was done while I was editing. I just sang direct into Audacity and compressed it to pieces using free plugins.
The little lean to on that house in the Mull of Kintyre video, with the 2nd green door ,is no longer there. The door that is there is now painted red. Is that called progress ?
Would you be interested in filming the return of The Mull of Kintyre Campbeltown violin (Made by Archibald Smith in 1904) playing Mull of Kintyre in that location? And then where? Nottingham Forest football stadium? I restored the violin in Nottingham this year. And Mull of Kintyre is the official song of Forest fans.
Please don't sing
PAUL! I have a delightful voice! Mum says I sound like an angel. How very dare you.

I live in faraway Florida, but I was in Scotland for a month about a dozen uears ago. This song of Paul's really makes the tears flow! 😢
So cool, I loved seeing the now & then where it was filmed. I loved their song & those bagpipers really made it come alive! ❤
Gee, what a beautiful spot. Seeing the expanse really gives a much fuller, more beautiful view than the Wings video.
Thank you sooo much. I love seeing how places have changed from what they looked like years ago…whether in a music video or somewhere in history! Again…THANKS!!
There are places I remember....
Thank you so much for this. Mull of Kintyre is one of my fav songs!
Went last week. Got some great drone shots .Beautiful place
In the early 80's I used to be a young Airman, stationed at near by RAF Machrihanish. Watching that video brought back memories
WOOWWW, AMAZING!!!! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!!! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for posting links brings back memories, being on the beach that day gave me visions of Paul walking down to the beach to greet the pipers 👌
they went to his house first in his garden then they all walked down to the beach

Especially for the Scottish accent! Loved it absolutely!
Well done! great video and information a lovely part of our country we call home, proud to be a Scotsman
Paul and Linda were so ‘together’ - 💕- lovely pix of them. Great comparison, past and present, good idea 👍 🐁 Bring back Roland Rat 😎

Beautiful video 😍
I'm from Brazil and I want to visit this place too. Good video. Thanks.
That was very interesting! Amazing how little some rural places change. Good to get out of the ever changing city and get some permanence.
the Linda impression was spot on, I couldn't help laughing
I loved your video. Thank You so much for sharing. If he see this may tug at his heart strings.❤️ I’d give anything to come visit.
