San Bernadino video is hilarious! Shame great songs can get easily forgotten - it's a treat to hear them on the radio when they do come up, it was how I learnt of this song's existence and got instantly hooked.
2:38 The old school ⛽️ stations! When the owner himself/ or a young man trying to make some bread (for some good 💨) lol would come out, fill your tank for you. Wowzers! I wish I was a teenager in the 70’s! At least I was in the 90’s, & enjoyed the 80’s. This is the America 🇺🇸 that we’ll never get back. So sad. Great song. Best songs were from this era.✌🏼
San Bernardino in the day..LOL!..Lyrics from just 1 year earlier from Creedence Clearwater's 1969 album 'Green river' featuring the tune 'Tombstone shadow'. "Saw the gypsy man, way down in SAN 'BERDOO..five dollars on the table, ooh keeps me away from my tomb"...left Ca. in the 90's..Robert at 68.
English band, which a very English video, singing about a very Californian city at the time; admit to never stepping foot in the historic city. Its also not their original song. Gruppa 20 I think did the original in Hungarian I believe. It was based on the St Bernard mountains. It was the turning point of using the term San Bernardino Pass.
@@samscott54 In 1965-66 I was a 9-year-old boy in 6th grade and was molested by a Catholic nurse / nun in St Bernardine's Hospital in San Bernardino after a routine kidney & bladder exploratory procedure. She was wearing a typical Catholic nun habit, with a stethoscope around her neck and wearing a nurse's white hat which was also typical of nurses back in the 60's. I had to urinate in order to be released and could not because it was too painful in my urethra after the Endoscopic camera tube was inserted in my urinary tract and used to investigate the state of my bladder and kidneys. She took me in a room and placed a big cloth over my head and face so I could not see what she was doing and whatever she did she introduced me to sexual pleasure I had not previously known to exist and at the same time she caused me to also urinate in a bedpan and also bleed. It felt extremely good and hurt at the same time. Like the song, "It Hurts So Good" - Guess you could say I came and went. She signed me out and the doctors released me to go home with my parents who were waiting bedside in my hospital room. I had no idea what had happened and for many years I had no idea that I had in fact been molested. Years ago, I made an inquiry into the matter only to be told that what happened to me was not an uncommon occurrence or practice in that hospital for the time that it happened and considering it was a Catholic hospital the AMA would have actually turned a blind eye to such a thing but would not have condoned or allowed such a thing to go on in a secular hospital. As to what exactly the nun / nurse did to me I was told to use my imagination as there were more than one way something of that nature could have been performed. My reason for being in that hospital was not because of my family religious affiliation but because the doctor who examined me there was a renowned kidney specialist who was considered to be the top urologist in California at the time. And because of my family was considered low income and could not afford to have that medical procedure done in a regular hospital. I'm still not Catholic and I have a strong aversion to their continual reports of priests abusing altar boys (one of my best friends was victimized and molested by his priest for years!) something they seem to be able to escape from prosecution as well as other types of abuse.
@@reneethompson8533 That is the correct spelling. The original song title is misspelled. It is a great song about an otherwise depressing city.
