Cyberpunk can take some hefty amount of vram, i recently, today to be precise, finished playing phantom liberty, and with my rx 7700 xt i had to give up on RT, still too heavy to my liking, needed to drop down to performance fsr to make it hit 60fps most of the time and at that point it just looks bad. Still, i played it at 1440p, maxed out, without RT of course, and it still loooked mighty fine and really crisp in that native 1440p resolution. Point is, it was using 11GBs of vram at 1440p pretty much all the time, which is crazy, i just bought this gpu two weeks ago and it's already close to running out of vram :D i should go for 7900gre instead i guess.

You're seeing low GPU usage when ray-tracing is enabled at a low-res mode because the GPU is being bottlenecked by the compute units rendering the ray-tracing part of the buffer, this doesn't happen with light ray-tracing effects in other games but Cyberpunk is just super expensive (and awesome at the same time) with regard to ray-tracing tech. Nvidia put dedicated RTX cores in their cards for a reason and I guess AMD will be following the same path sooner than later.
I was wondering what to choose 4080S or XTX and I wanted CP2077, and as you can see in your video the choice is quite simple, 4080S + RT + Dlss performance 4K + FG and I have about 115 FPS ( R7 7800X3D ). Your reviews are as usual very good. Best regards
i thought i was going crazy with the framegen seeming not to work properly but now i know its bugged the rt performance with framegen is horrendous right now aswell
you should enable all the core in the processor since it is a gpu test and not a cpu test. The extra horse power will have a huge impact on the gpu performance in cpu demanding areas in big AAA games.
It has the opposite effect actually, games that can use more than 16 threads will use the non 3D vcache cores, ending up in slower performance. I have tried it, it gets higher FPS in this game like this 🙂
No, the x3d chip is on 1 ccd only and windows scheduling is broken so it hurts the performance. The 7800x3d is the best gaming chip on the market right now and that is basically what cpu he has with disabled secondary non x3d ccd
Im looking forward to amd making gpu which supports ai upscaling and better RT performance which i think is being used by the powerful apu in the ps5 pro
Great video. I will say though that you can get a great rt overdrive (pt) experience on the 7900 xtx. I played the whole game that way. You'll want to use XeSS 1.3.1 upscaling though in balanced or performance mode, which will have quality similar to FSR quality mode (yes the FSR in cyberpunk is that bad). That will get you 50 to 65 fps at 1440p with xess performance mode or 45 to 55 fps at XeSS balanced mode. Then you can enable fsr3 frame generation with the mod (which actually works) and basically double the fps. I won't like to my channel but I've got a video of that running around 120 fps with smooth frame times, max settings including rt overdrive, in Pacifica. Like i said i played the entire game that way. There are a couple areas it falls apart though. Performance is too low by the tree in dogtown and also the trees in arasaka tower
Excellent GPU. Dat power consumption though. I saw 500 watts for a brief second. I though those transient spikes were this gen... Do you get to keep or is it a trial like the RTX 4090? Either way congrats! Only took 500k subs for AMD-senpai to notice you hahah.
oh btw according to Ancient Gameplays, you should just use fsr 2.1 currently cause 3.0 looks fuzzier lol (ik it's very weird. I think the whole fsr3.0 implementation here is just broken)
Damn another case in point of 4k being a beast with bottomless stomach. I played CP2077:PL at 4k with DLSS Q on High preset on my 3070 and was stable 55-60. And a generation up, top of the line (well, 4080 equivalent) only gets 70 FPS at native raster, that's crazy. Still a good card but I think DLSS is just so much better I'd still stick with nvidia given the option between 2.
Yeah that's the main problem I found with using the 7900XTX for a week. I play at 4K, and even though this is faster at native res compared to my 4080 Super, I always use DLSS at 4K, and then the 4080 Super is ahead. I'd use FSR with the XTX if it was FSR 3.1, and I did so with GOT and HFW, but the game selection is too small and the older versions of FSR are crap, even at 4K...
I wanted to buy this card but the cheapest in my country costs 1050 USD. Luckily I managed to buy rtx 4080 for 900 USD and I am very happy with it. I was skeptical about dlss and fg but in most games it looks very good and doubles fps.
The circle intersection in Dogtown and actually the whole Dogtown area: POORLY OPTIMISE, not to say: NOT OPTIMISE! 😂 Even on my overclocked 4090: shitty frametime graph in this area!
no amd anti lag 2, no fsr 3.1 and a questionable implementation. they're either pretty much done updating this game or they're trying to make amd look bad

@@skog_1 Could be but i dont think my Overclocked 7900xt would match a stock 7900xtx. If i am then props to XFX on the Mercury cards.
In Cyberpunk Target FPS for both FSR and DLSS FG is internal FPS.
SO if you Lock it to 30 then you'll get 60 FPS with FG
Is that SMT option enabled in settings? Because AMD CPUs need that stuff to be set to on, otherwise they underperform a lot? Just judging by the CPU bottleneck at 1080 with RT enabled, it should be able to do more than 50fps
Waiting for full review 👌
hopefully amd sents out more gpus to benchmark for example the rx 7900 gre the rx 7800 xt etc
Thanks for testing this. Its not working properly on my PC too. The fps counter has a higher number but it still looks like base frame rate or even worse.
Great video and glad that AMD sent you 7900xtx finally!
FSR 2.1 and 3.0 aren't the same, 3.0 has a ton more shimmering on the plants, really noticeable at lower resolutions. CDPR did AMD dirty with this update.
Poor AMD. CDPR is surely biased towards Nvidia. 😂
It was amazing to see your excitement in the beggining of the video after finally getting this card
and congrats cd projeckt red releasing an update way too late that is also broken lol
Great to see a top end AMD GPU review 🙂↕💪😇👍
I have had this card since last year and its amazing, I use it with a 5800x3D for 1440p and I love it so much
finally bro! congrats on the review card
Finally first amd 7000series gpu❤ except rx 7600m xt pls give me heart you did it and then unheart
Not counting the 7600M XT* 😃
I sent mine back due to the crazy power consumption compared to the 4080
Didn't have any luck with under UV, at default settings the 7900 xtx i was running 50 to 80w on many games. My 4080 is 200 to 280w max after a UV and getting exact same stock performance.
•RTX 4090/5090+ray tracing overdrive + cyber punk 2077+8k res+ ultra performance dlss=?
•if nvidia refuses to send you rtx 4090 again, then, when, rtx 5090 launches you can request nvidia to send rtx 5090 & test it
The video starts at 3:10 since the 8 cores of the cpu isn’t fully utilized at 1080p
love the video, hope to see more AMD card reviews on more games thanks!
I think FSR 3 looks much worse than FSR 2. It's a shame they didn't implement FSR 3.1.
21:17 FSR3's upscaler is 2.2 here which is actually worse than 2.1, so it's not the same thing.
Ehi kryzzp, a friend of mine got a used PC with a GTX 1050 ti 64gb of RAM and an I5 9600 for 300 euros,I don't know, but I think he got the beast deal of his life!(Good video happy to see a 7900xtx😃)
How is that XFX running so cold with all that power 😧😧
Custom fan curve! Roughly 1 to 1. And also open air test bench 🙂
I have that merc xtx, xfx have overkil cooling on there gpus...but also they are very loong cards 😅
XfX rX 7900XtX. We need more X!!!
7800x3d: Hello Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: 1%low= 82 fps
7800x3d: Jesus fucking Christ
A new card! congratulations 🎉❤
Thank you 😃🥰
I have this 7900xtx graphics card, cool to see it in your videos!!
Finally 7900xtx video!
Yes we are figuring out a culling technique sorry you might see some errors or missing objects due to how the game engines used physically stuff
That Hello Guys, it's very satisfying
beast of the gpus is back on channel along with nvidia
i told him to try it on channel
am i right krzypp
Will you be doing for rx 7900 xt please? Love your videos
Thanks for the explanation!
Yeah for cyberpunk the 4080S is definitely the better choice 🙂
Thank you!
Regards
i thought i was going crazy with the framegen seeming not to work properly but now i know its bugged
the rt performance with framegen is horrendous right now aswell
Justice for Bob!
Gratz kryzzp , U deserved it long ago, but its never late
you should enable all the core in the processor since it is a gpu test and not a cpu test.
I see why amd made the choice to focus more on 1440p than try to beat the 4090 in 4k performance
Im looking forward to amd making gpu which supports ai upscaling and better RT performance which i think is being used by the powerful apu in the ps5 pro
For cp2077 overdrive on an xtx use rdna 3 optimisation path tracing mod plus fsr 3 fg on upscaling quality 1440p
Congrats Kryzzp for the 7900 XTX about time AMD sent you something
Nice vid man! What about testing AFMF 2 with the card?
The level of incompetence shown here from CDPR is unreal
I tested it on my 3060 and the fsr 3 mod + dlss quality looks so much better than the official version, it's not even close
Weird stuff! The devs must've been smoking something 🤣
I'd use FSR with the XTX if it was FSR 3.1, and I did so with GOT and HFW, but the game selection is too small and the older versions of FSR are crap, even at 4K...
still waiting for arc gpu testing🥲🥲
I wanted to buy this card but the cheapest in my country costs 1050 USD. Luckily I managed to buy rtx 4080 for 900 USD and I am very happy with it. I was skeptical about dlss and fg but in most games it looks very good and doubles fps.
Hope you will test xtx in other games too, this is my first amd gpu in like 12 years and i love it...true raster monster 😃
Will definitely do!!
The circle intersection in Dogtown and actually the whole Dogtown area: POORLY OPTIMISE, not to say: NOT OPTIMISE! 😂
Even on my overclocked 4090: shitty frametime graph in this area!
carai.... essa placa conseguiu fazer sua CPU suar!! um canhão
The gpu looks amazing. I am excited for the full video for it next week!
Lesgooo .. Btw is the gpu staying or u will return it 👀
It's staying 😃
zwormz 7900XTX
rubs eyes
79000XTX
rubs eyes again
still 7900XTX
I dont think ill ever fully trust modders again after the PTSD i got from modding Fallout & Elder Scrolls. Good mods are the exception, not the norm.
Geeze that power draw crazy
no amd anti lag 2, no fsr 3.1 and a questionable implementation. they're either pretty much done updating this game or they're trying to make amd look bad
NVIDIA makes you restart the game as well now for some reason since they integrated FSR 3 according to AncientGameplays.
