This is one of the most underrated DLCs in Total War history... they just didn't make as big a deal out of it as they should have. Fall Of The Samurai was pretty neat,but Rise Of The Samurai is my favorite DLC

There going through the series again and solving every single "fan-moan" they got with each original game throughout the different periods they set the games in. So basically the next game will be king, as rome has always been king. Or should i say emperor. I love all Total War games though and haven't done a single "fan-moan" cos i enjoy playing them and i like the designers to work.
@1kaasblokje That's what CA is aiming at next. If you don't believe me look it up, the director confirmed that they're in the process of making a new Total War game. Started 3 months after Shogun came out.

AGAIN, the reason why it bothers THIS TIME and not before is because of the fact that there is basically only one faction in the game, so it bothers me that they couldn't bother adding a few more faces especially since you can clearly see their faces now. In Rome the graphics were so bad you didn't care/ in M2 where most generals had helmets hiding their faces.

Chinese military power made be great on paper but in reality...not so much. (There is some speculation that the Emishi are related to the Ainu and they are both believed to be the remnants of the Jomon people).
The Taira went on the offensive, once they become close to the Imperial Family, hunting down the Minamoto who went into hiding. Eventually the Minamoto rebuilt their strength and pushed back in the Gempei War, eventually beating the Taira at the naval Battle of Dan-No-Ura. Upon victory, Yoshistune, Yoritomo's half-brother, was exiled due to Yoritomo's jealousy and fear of being overthrown by his more popular brother. So Yoshitsune and his entourage, which included his best friend Benkei, fled to Hiraizumi. There the lord Fujiwara Hidehira looked after them until his son Yasuhira turned them over to Yoritomo's invading army. Yoshitsune committed seppuku in one of the temples whilst Benkei stood guard alone and fought off the entire army. Afterwards no one would dare go near Benkei. He died standing up riddled with arrows. Yoritomo would unify Japan and become it's Shogun soon after. That's the story I was told, in a nutshell, anyway. :-)

Since 1990s, they had consistently been dropping their size by eliminating almost a million personnel from various arms in the military. They saw how the decentralized US forces managed to defeat the Iraqi army in Desert Storm and so imitated it by allowing it's commanders higher degree of autonomy and flexibility.
@15GamingGuy They said the exact same thing for the Japanese during the 1980s but then the economic bubble happened and that was the end of Japanese economic rise. China is heading at the same direction with its economy now feeling the strain with its "forced marches" or its failing housing industry is going through. Korea and Vietnam war were completely different things, one was a conventional war and the other an insurgency but both have much deeper political context and circumstances.
The Minamoto had a great starting position but their traits meant little during the late game, not to mention combat stats are pointless in Legendary without a strong economy. I wonder how they won.
@GrandChamp1989 well they could do a re-release of the mongolian invasion expansion they had for the original shogun and remember the invasion (what there was of it) happened 99 years after this campaign is set to begin

I don't profess knowledge on the technical inventory of the PLA as they contradict one sources after another. I do read much on essays and treatises on PLA army doctrines, operational strategies and those conceptual military theories. Many Western analysis were amazed at the level of complexity shown by the PLA in such a short period of time.

I'm pretty sure by this time they had modernized to a degree that they have full integrated air support and other support weapons in their formations. At least the concept of "deep penetrations" is taught among the Chinese officers and the idea of combined arms is not merely a pipe dream.

@NinjaGabe11B Maybe cuz there are mods like the Additional Units Mod and Radious Unit Mod that adds far more new interesting units (and often far more balanced than the vanilla game), for free.. These DLC just dont cut it anymore.

the word 'chink', being derived from Qing Dynasty of China, became the 'standard' description of Asian ethnicity as Chinese culture was most prominent out of other Japanese cultures in 1800s. Japan and Korea played isolation policies so they were also referred to as 'chinks' as they had no significance.

I pre-ordered this as soon as it was announced. Another 30- 40+ hours for a very cheap price. Super value for the best game of the year.

Rise of Samurai came out before Fall and it's just DLC. Fall is actually an expansion.
