Beautiful thing is that if you know that it holds at 20psi then you know it will hold at the 1/2 pound or so working pressure that the gas regulator operated at. Good job
You can also use teflon tape and pipe dope together with good results Martin. An old plumber taught me this. Put the tape on first, then brush on the pipe thread solution. Just be sure to add it only to the NPT only. Any brass fitting with flared and/or ferral type fitting never add either tape or any type of pipe solution.
I was having the same problem with Teflon tape. The guy in the plumbing section at Lowe’s explained that some time ago they cut the thickness of the tape. He said if I used multiple wraps it would work just like before. I found that to be helpful in my applications.
i am happy for you, in reality there is nothing better than to build up your independence like you do with a house and knowledge of building and repairing stuff, and to do it with a supportive family is the best of all.
You guy's are doing a great job. Thank you for sharing. Gas lines is a serious thing not to mes around with. I would secure all the lines and the connections to prevend vibration by mother earth. We all know that houses and buidings are shaking and vibrating because of mother earth. Most of the time we don't even know or feel these vibrations. With securing everything the chanches of cracks in the fittings and sealings are reduced to a minimum. Also .... make shure that there is now tension on the fittings because they can give the same results.
Thank you for all the amazing videos you share with us, I have finally caught up with them all (I started right back at the beginning). You are an amazing family, working so hard towards your goal. I'm from Devon in UK.
I would secure that manifold with clamps and assure you have access to it once the building is complete. It looks great and in the end, it's probably better that you re-fitted it with the pipe dope to get a better overall seal.
Marty, why are you making such a long run with the dryer exhaust? You have a wall just a few feet away. Go through that wall. Longer runs will encourage lint clogging.
When you enclose the walls, I would make an access door to that manifold, just in case. If I couldn't have the connections of the Stainless steel tubing exposed or accessible, i would use iron pipe.
Well 3 strikes and you are OUT of here!!! Good grief don't SCARE me like that...took my breath away on the wait wait wait...oh it's just a drop of water....steady my heart LOLOL. Gage STILL HOLDING!!! YIPPPEEEE
Martin, that is great news but I'm concerned about the flex pipe going into the left side of that manifold - even though it doesn't leak it looks like the pipe isn't going in straight and secure. Please try and straighten it, recheck for leaks before you seal up the wall! Wouldn't want it to catastrophically pop out at a future date.
I noted that too, but it won't "pop-out". If it isn't showing a leak now, it will almost inevitably remain sealed. What I would do is put a clamp strap on the manifold to keep it in place as the building settles. Preferably with some play in it, as strapping it too tight would apply unwanted forces on the joints.
I usually use Teflon tape and dope together from the beginning, never had a leak ever. I also would have put that manifold in the wall with an access door for the future. Glad it's all working good.
Plumbers rule of thumb. Dope over Teflon guarantees a seal. Looks great you 2. Love the vlog. My dream of off grid livin but in the city. City municipals want there $. Argh!
Black iron pipes now come in every length imaginable and cutting and threading are rarely needed. That said, I'm an electric vice gas appliance guy and would prefer pulling Romex.
I see you still installed the CSST wrong. Please look as the TSB for those GasTite XR3 fittings. You can't have exposed corrigations or the arc shield doesn't work.
When I tried to install our water heater, I was soooo nervous that I had to check at least 100 times to make sure there are no leaks in the water line or the gasline. Talking about presure.
to find the slow leaks, you need a lot less water and a lot more dish soap, so that it stays on for minutes... Not seconds You want to make sure all joints are completely tight, if your solution comes off real quick, like you have it, you can miss a slow leak.
The main things is that you took care to get it right and make sure the gas installation is right. It looked to me like they used the wrong PTFE tape for gas, it should be yellow, at least where I live. White is used for drinking water. I feel it is better to pressure test items like the built-up manifold before it is installed. The main thing is that you want it totally secure, gas is nasty stuff if it leaks. It has a habit of issuing dramatic reminders to take good care, by blowing up buildings, sometimes several buildings in one go and killing people. No one wants that for you or anyone else, I hope.
Never use tape on a gas line, always use Pipe Dope. Tape is OK for water lines, pipe dope will make the water taste funny. I was a Jack of all Trades and a Master of None.
BRO Ur great i need some help I’m handy but not a plumber with no money to call a professional 😢 I desperately need someone to give me sooner advice would it be to much to ask for some direction. I smell gas and can’t afford to do anything but fix it myself if you can be so kind maybe we can figure out a way for us to talk were how ever you feel comfortable hopefully I don’t sound like a complete nut
I hated the tape. If you have to turn a fitting back just a hair for manifold alignment it will leak, not with pipe dope. You can over tighten taper pipe threads too and cause a fitting to leak This video was just a gas to watch!
Cool video but I don't know if you are aware of this but your dog running loose where there's wildlife is a big no no its aganst the law in all states also if he is seen running deer a lot of hunters will shoot him so you really need to keep him close to home also the d n r can give you a big time fine
I use to work for American Leak Detection and always used tape (yellow for gas ) and pipe dope. Glad to see you got it fixed👍
Good morning Martin and Julie. Hopefully you will have better luck today. 🇯🇲👍👍
Big win with no leaks on the gas line. Take everything you can get lol. Have a great weekend. Stay safe
Beautiful thing is that if you know that it holds at 20psi then you know it will hold at the 1/2 pound or so working pressure that the gas regulator operated at. Good job
Good you use pipe dope. In Ontario Ca. you can't use teflon tape on gas or propane fittings have to use pipe dope.

Yeeaahh! 1 win is better than NO wins,!! and Jules is STILL Smiling x x. Thanks for vid from UK.
When it rains, it pours and it's so true. Hopefully lots more wins to come to make up for it.
Yes! No leaks! It's coming along. Sure will be nice to have that part out of the way.
I’m so happy you are retaining gas Marty!
I’ve never seen that style of flexible gas line before. Seems like DIY dream compared to cutting and threading black iron

You can also use teflon tape and then put pipe dope on the teflon tape then put the fittings together.
A W is a W..I say count your blessings. Good work!

Wow! Awesome!

Hello my friends I congratulate you as a very beautiful, wonderful and creative family I wish you a happy life.👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🇾🇪🇾🇪
Winners never loose n loosers never Win... I C A Pair of Winners in the near future... Keep the Wins going!!! & Keep in-Touch!!! K??? Winners!!!
I have lived in Idaho. Rains are scanty and winters harsh for few times. Generally climate is good😃😃😃

YES YES YES!!!
Just made the same comment, except I would've made sure it was in the wall. Jmo.
I've done lots of water and gas lines with just teflon tape over the years. It has never failed me. I don't understand why y'all are having problems.
Time to put on the side on the house and your garage Al's add on trimming it up asap right
Woohooo a win!! Dang it on supply run...

I was licensed HVAC in Washington an any time I had anything permanent I always used paste not tape glad it sealed.
Hati² selalu boss..gas bisa menghancurkan segalanya bila terjadi kebakaran..!!..👍👍
nice fix on leaking fitting, i like pipe dope better too

Nice!
Great job! One success is more than none!

Yup, I agree.
I use a pipe sealant called true blue
Black iron pipes now come in every length imaginable and cutting and threading are rarely needed. That said, I'm an electric vice gas appliance guy and would prefer pulling Romex.
Big win 👍
You can over tighten them. I like blue block pipe sealant and Teflon tape on gas . Blue block will harden up.
your video seems i am watching ancient technology . that was superior then today and your face like Actress of old movies . Weldon keep it on
...all it needs is some fine tuning...lol...looks good, stay safe and enjoy...
How are you going to access the manifold after all the drywall or paneling is installed?
3 learning opportunities!
In UK any mechanical gas fittings have to be accessable
One of the companies I have hired to run air like they dope the pipe the use Teflon tape over it before connecting
I see you still installed the CSST wrong. Please look as the TSB for those GasTite XR3 fittings. You can't have exposed corrigations or the arc shield doesn't work.

i miss u vlog in yogya :(
Good job.I am also a builder
Whats the name of the song that you play with the words ...I like the way you bounce in it......plz
You should use yellow gas rated Teflon and pipe dope
Yes Jules, you almost gave me a heart attack! Luckily it was just a drop, phew 🙆well done Johnson's , you are doing a great job 👏👏
Hadir om .....salam dr jakarta iya om tante 🖐💖🙏🤲
Tape was wrong think should have been yellow for gas blue for water , or was it pink
Pak Martin...
Use both, teflon tape and then dope-em
to find the slow leaks, you need a lot less water and a lot more dish soap, so that it stays on for minutes... Not seconds
You want to make sure all joints are completely tight, if your solution comes off real quick, like you have it, you can miss a slow leak.
I don't like a double T propane connection. The chance of a leak is more greater when your lines are branched.
always use teflon tape AND pipe dope
I do the same, never had a leak, ever !
I have always used Teflon tape and wrapped it eight times it has never leaked that's when I was using it for hooking up a portable homes
A win a win
Can you tell me about the background song you use. It sounds like Alison Kraus.
5% mixture of gas and air plus spark…cablamo!
The tittle of this video 👌😂
Gas line tape is yellow, blue is for water
In israel we use copper lines for gas.
Martin they were not failures they were things that didn’t work.
I call them "opportunities for improvement" myself ;)
halo pak martin
I think I would paint that manifold so it didn't rust
Use yellow tape on the pipe its made for gas ...................
YOUNG MAN ,
U HAVE TO MUST BEND GOING TO THE MANFOLD , U NEED BEND SUPPORT OR ELBOW SUPPORT FOR YOUR PIPES
Wah komentarnya bahasa inggris semua
👍👍👍👌❤❤❤
The angle of that one flexible hose into the fitting worries me a bit.
Sometimes good people need to use dope. I know it's terrible, but I think we can make an exception.
I usually use tape with dope.

What your problem is ypur pumping off the bottom,,, you need to put A -T- 8"10" the bottom ,,, put the check valve above the -T-.............
No teflon tape on gas just pipe dope
pak martin
I assume for the gas leak you shut off the gas.

You never use teflon tape on gas whoever built that little manifold for you did not know what they were doing
Says who?
Yeah, says who?
Says a plumber of 18 years
@@davehatzakorzian6994 that makes sense, the gas companies I've worked for never had plumbers, that's why they did it wrong all those years.
NEVER USE CAST IRON PIPE / USE PEX TUBING PEX PIPE / WITH FITTING UPONOR WANT LEAK
I hated the tape. If you have to turn a fitting back just a hair for manifold alignment it will leak, not with pipe dope. You can over tighten taper pipe threads too and cause a fitting to leak
