I saw a documentary once where a photographer went deep into the rainforest and visited with a people who live high up in the rainforest trees. He commented on how surprised he was that such little children would live up there with no railings or safety protection to keep them from falling to their deaths. When he asked the leader of the tribe if children ever fell off the platforms high up in the trees, he responded with a confused, "No... never." He explained that the children in their tribe learn very early how to behave. Duh. Living on a sailboat is, I imagine, no different from raising kids anywhere else... We teach our children what we expect, how to behave, how to be safe, etc. Good parents raise their children. Safe travels.
Great story but I was thinking along those lines.... Things can happen at sea in an instant. The most seasoned sailors have died at sea due to the unpredictability of the vast ocean. Please don't get me wrong because I believe they are the most attentive parents ever! My fear is, say it's in the middle of the night and something unexpected happens and they are all in the water and the children don't have their life vest on. Well fill in the rest.
@@MaineUSA With that mentality, how on earth did humans get to this day and age? The real world is stunning, fulfilling, educational and yes, very dangerous. Good for you on how you are raising your children. They can't learn if they are coveted and over-protected all their early years. This is the way we grew up (I am 78). I love the video. The falling asleep in the dingy clutching the handle is an awesome indication the adventure was fully satisfying. Good for you both to shift gears and find your new version of thrills.
What a fabulous childhood your kids are having. 70 years ago, when I was a child, we visited a waterfall with a viewing area at the base. All the people were looking up at the falls, but my Mom and I walked through the woods, crawled down the rocks to the top edge of the falls. I learned to see things differently and 7 decades later I'm still comfortable hanging out at the edge. Those kids have experienced more at their age than some people will in a lifetime. Be well. As always I enjoyed the video.
Just loved this episode !Seeing your little ones grow and experience real life is so brilliant . I have friends who are boaties and who are also travelling the world with their kids . They are not quite as relaxed with their kids but I think it is just due to the fact that they were not born on the boat like your two were. My boatlife is in its caterpillar phase , lived in the Marina on a few boats during Covid, daughter taking her CC next year , planning on winning the lottery and then sailing off with the sunrise from here in Las Palmas to the Caribbean , starting with Guadeloupe where my kids dad was from. #dreamscancometrue
Wow, your journey on the boat and the unconventional life you're living is truly fascinating. It reminds me of the importance of teaching children early on about responsibility and safety, just like the rainforest tribe you mentioned. It's great to see you raising your kids to be adventurous and independent. Your children are learning invaluable life lessons and creating wonderful memories. Keep nurturing these fierce little adventurers! Safe travels!
You two are such AMAZING parents. I'm 57, jumped on my first plane alone at 17, and haven't stopped travelling, and to see the joy, excitement, and most of all, wonder on your children's faces fills my heart with hope that this amazing planet we get to call home won't be lost on a gadget crazied generation. 🤗😘🙏 P.s. EXCELLENT video…I love how you let your children have experiences without being micromanaged. Ashley, 4 1/2 years not wind surfing you looked like a pro…thank you for taking us along.
We did the same, conformed the kids around us and the water from day 14. Literally have pictures of my son in the sailboat less then a month old. Now we have 12 and 14 year Olds who are licensed to operate boats and love to wakeboard and wakesurf go everywhere with us and hopefully appreciate all the different experiences. You are 100%right it is worth it.
This video was really refreshing. I have watched almost all of your RUclips videos since the beginning and the circumnavigation was starting to look exhausting towards the end. It was fun and inspiring to see you starting to get back to your roots of adventure. Where you’re at in your family situation looks similar to where my wife and I are at with our own family although we have a few more kids(5). We are done with the baby stage, our oldest is 12 and youngest is 2 and a half. With the oldest able to babysit my wife and I are able to sneak away for dinner to enjoy each others company much easier than having to round up a babysitter. Time to enjoy the next chapter in life🍻

Fantastic video! It feels like the old videos. I’ve been a viewer since the beginning. Your kids are so fortunate to live the life you two have created. Can’t wait to see your little sailors grow up on the ocean. ✌️
I've commented before in a positive way but my heart is in my mouth when the kids are not wearing their life jackets. You two can swim, they cant. If one of you children fall over board it's going to take a time for you to 1 realise their not there and 2 to down sail and go back. Having life jackets on will give them and you a fighting chance to rescue them. I don't think I'm being over protective just common sense, they can't swim? I too had fun with my son and put him in situations which could of caused him harm. He's now 27 and rock climbing, jump biking, down hill racing etc. but he uses all the equipment to keep himself safe. Don't make life more difficult than it needs to be, your amazing parents keep up the good work ❤
Hi Ben & Ashleigh Just want to let you both know how awesome you both are!! Having 2 children is hard enough little lone on a boat! Amazing work with all your trips circumnavigating around the entire world 🌍! Please don’t listen to the horrible comments people are just jealous that you are living a wonderful lifestyle! Keep on sailing ⛵️ we think you are doing an excellent job parenting! You are doing everything with your children and they are growing up in an awesome environment. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
To be able to raise your kids this way is better then anything ever, forever great life experiences of cultures and different ways of living, very lucky kids, safe journeys :)
That was beautiful story, you have achieved so much in raising those 2 little ones they are achieving so much of a fantastic life opportunity, they were so cute in that little boat pulling behind the tender I just laughed out loud not many people would do that to their toddler children good on you, you know what your kids limitations are and your comfortable doing it, good on you 🎉❤❤❤
Hi guys I just wanted to say thank for all of your hard work and the joy and happiness you have given me since I have been following you I hope 2024 will be a safe and wonderful year I am going through a difficult separation after 25 years and. I am changing my dream😊 you have given me I love the sea I have started sailing you have inspired me thanks so so much ok keep safe merry Christmas to a beautiful family ❤❤❤
Curious why off shore sailers with young kids don't do cloth diapers? I raised two at home in cloth, and while a pain to clean and wash, I can't imagine storing all those disposables on board in the heat. If anyone needs help with cloth diapers, my wife sells them on her website,, not sure if it's ok to share here,, let me know. Cheers from Peterborough Ontario,, love your channel.
I was wondering the same thing... my wife used cloth on half of our nine kidlets and they were amazing... and I would assume, critical for boating life.
it would be so cool if you made sure that people who let you film them get a share of the revenue if you use the footage IMO, I love dynamics of you two and the amazing unfolding story of your child! Love
They grow up way too fast, you blink and it goes by. I would love to have mine be little again and would definitely redo many things. This episode was especially fun to watch and gave me a few sniffles. Well done.
What an amazing life you guys have with your two beautiful babies. So amazing, and for sharing as that is a hard thing to do. But I really appreciate it.
You're doing great with your kids, the people that give you a hard time are the same parents who's kids aren't allowed to clime a tree 2mtrs off the ground and still do their washing and make their bed for them in their 30s
What two fierce, adventurous, confidant, little people you are nurturing... what bigger legacy could one create.
Seems like your kids are a bit older mentally than most kids thier same age. You guys are doing an amazing job 💯

Don't make life more difficult than it needs to be, your amazing parents keep up the good work ❤
Your day may have started of miserable but look on the bright side. You didn't snap a speargun. Thanks for another great video.
You are so right. You are setting your children up to succeed in anything that they choose to do. Parenting done right.
YES
Awesome video!! Love seeing the kids growing up!!!
Hi Ben & Ashleigh

Please don’t listen to the horrible comments people are just jealous that you are living a wonderful lifestyle! Keep on sailing ⛵️ we think you are doing an excellent job parenting! You are doing everything with your children and they are growing up in an awesome environment. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
To be able to raise your kids this way is better then anything ever, forever great life experiences of cultures and different ways of living, very lucky kids, safe journeys :)

Epic life! They won’t be this little for long! You guys are so brave!
What a great compilation and heart felt observations on your lives until now so nice thankyou !
That was beautiful story, you have achieved so much in raising those 2 little ones they are achieving so much of a fantastic life opportunity, they were so cute in that little boat pulling behind the tender I just laughed out loud not many people would do that to their toddler children good on you, you know what your kids limitations are and your comfortable doing it, good on you 🎉❤❤❤
Its always a treat to see you guys. The very best of the Season to you all.
Beautiful scenery and the children are thriving 😊 Blessings to you all 🙏🙏🥰

Love
Just brilliant what a treasure that its captured digitally for your children to reflect later in life what awesome parents they had growing up.
Fantastic episode.
thank you for the great video my dear friend. really love it. keep update and see you
Great video !!! Keep ‘em coming.
Absolutely beautiful family!!!
Great clip seeing the little fella jumping off the boat. 😊
Seeing Ash back on the board gave me all the feels. Bodie is getting so big! Peace and love from Atlanta GA!
Thankyou 👍
You're doing great with your kids, the people that give you a hard time are the same parents who's kids aren't allowed to clime a tree 2mtrs off the ground and still do their washing and make their bed for them in their 30s
Best music choice ever. Loved it❤❤❤ Love your videos.
Great episode hah loved him falling asleep and hanging on lol
Always one hand for the boat ;)
Super happy to see you guys get back in to your hobbies. Kids are getting to that fun age too!
I admire your unique life. And love your family. Fair winds & following seas! ❤
Some of my earliest memories are of hikes and long walks. Stanley Park was my favorite place as a child
That was a beautiful day! Congratulations!
