im Australian and was watching a late night talk show from the USA, very left wing. they showed a clip of a Russian helicopter getting shoot down by a javelin missile and the ordinance clapped.... i was very very upset at this!!!!!! i saw it and could not take my eyes off the spot the missile hit in air.. in that spot over that farm, 5 boys lost there life ....my neighbour has Russian parents. if i was not told, there is no way i could tell her apart from any other Australian.. we welcome one type of Slavic person with shocking open arms and clap the death of others.... i went looking for info on Russian culture and found this...I see a people respecting freedom and law standing up to self entitled bullies... what is happing is tragic and im sorry for our part..

After watching dozens of these great videos, one of the most ridiculous claims by the drivers (and some passersby) is that the sidewalk is a road. Even with people, dogs, strollers, bikes, etc, the drivers claim it's a road. Unreal.
It's a cultural artifact from the Soviet days. The common folks just didn't have cars, so anyone driving a car must be someone high up and powerful, and no one was going to tell them what to do. The streets had a central lane just for VIP's. As a result, Russian cities (which were rebuilt after WWII to Soviet standards) aren't built for cars. Moscow has an average of two parking spaces for every hundred apartments. It's only been twenty years or so since enough money started trickling down that everyone can own a car, and they have to. You're a peasant if you don't have one. There's still that background assumption that driving a car entitles you to behave in ways that lesser folks can't. Russian sidewalks are crazy wide because Stalin thought that looked classy. Empty space is a cheap way to get a classy look. There are so few parking lots that the sidewalk is all that's available, and it's so commonly used for parking that everyone is used to seeing it that way, and the cops don't even notice. The city owns the sidewalk, and they're not interested in changing things around to make more sense, and the stores aren't allowed to do anything about it, either.
It's like the way Chicago has so many narrow roads and low bridges. It was laid out for oxcarts in a different century, and changing that would mean tearing down half the city. Same thing with Russian cities. They're laid out for the needs and assumptions of a different culture.

i was shocked at all the pedestrians having no other option but to squeeze past the car...... combined with the size of the residential buildings behind is truly amazing!!!!! thousands of people have no foot path outside
Man, this situation is mentally tiring for me, I can't even imagine how it would be to be out there...
why not put a no-entry sign? This is to avoid conflicts between pedestrians and vehicle users. Police work will also be lighter than taking care of car drivers who don't know the rules on the pedestrian path

It's so weird how they tend to think that "their building" is some kind of special district where they can just make their own rules. Are all neighborhoods in Russia like this?
It's most likely that some building organisation/administration told them that that is parking lot for the building but it's not, as it does not seem approved by the city - as parking lots approved by the city are marked with a sign and markings (excluding building grounds which are usually situated surrounded by flats and have no connection with main roads at all, aside form connecting driveways)
@@yami2227 - and someone is scamming them if they are truly buying parking spots on the sidewalk as they claim.
@@sammybubba176 for sure but now they know not to pay unless they add parking signs, which they will never do because it's a sidewalk. Who was scamming would not be able to scam anymore and people will walk normally over there
It never ceases to amaze me how far people are willing to go to not have to walk 100 feet or so . . .🤔

@@KlingelTimi. In germany most illegal driving is simply prevented by blocking the way or making it narrow enough - not by good manners or proper control. You can easily see that by watching people drive too fast all the time and getting away with it without any fine below 20km/h and even above that with very low fines.

Perhaps if the GIBDD really wants to reduce violations and crashes in general, maybe they should stop letting people to "buy" them without passing any driving test.
It's pretty clear that Russia (or at least Moscow and St. Petersburg) have such rampant problems with people driving on the sidewalk, there should be signs installed that clearly prohibit driving there. This is an amazingly common problem all over these great cities. If it's that prevalent, then put up signs for heaven's sake.
