In The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, Disney fans were introduced to an entirely new Pride of Lions led by the villainous Zira and her children, Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu. The only thing is, many fans speculate that none of them were actually her cubs by birth. Well, if that theory turned out to be true, then there’s a good chance that one of the cubs in particular had a strong connection to Simba’s family. It’s starting to look like Vitani’s story might tell us the truth about what REALLY happened at Pride Rock before Simba returned.

They actually DID address this in the film, Vitani and Nuka are her and Scars kids. Kovu, however, is neither of their children. Nuka outright states that he was a wandering child that Scar found and took in. The other two though are DEFINITELY Zira and Scar’s.

The only reason Kovu isn't Scars cub is because that would make he and Kiara cousins. But Vitani and Kovu are likely littermates, soooo.
Kovu is Ziras son but he isn't Scars son.
I recently discussed this theory in one of my videos. While it may be possible, I personally believe that Vitani and Kovu were twins from Zira's second litter with a rogue male lion during Scar's reign as king after Nala rejected Scar's proposal to her thus running away from Pride Rock.
And another thing: in fanart Zira's mother is often depicted as having blue eyes, so recessive genes are a possibility.
@WolfPawStar88 That was my theory, too, when the movie initially came out, and I still feel this way. Scar definitely struck me as the type, who'd want his kids to call him by his name, rather than "Dad" or "Father" - think Jackson family patriarch, Joseph. It's been theorized that a premature birth or pregnancy complications caused Scar to look more sickly than Mufasa. It'd then make sense that, when he saw these traits be passed on to his firstborn, Nuka, he dismissed the possibility of naming the cub as his heir. Not wanting to chance that a second time, he ordered Zira to wait for a rogue male, who looked similar enough to him, to pass through the Pride Lands. That encounter produced Kovu and Vitani. Even though Zira said Kovu was the last cub born before the banishment, the twin theory still makes sense. Birthing two cubs would, obviously, take longer than birthing only one. Zira's labor could've gone on for more than a day, with Kovu taking longer to arrive than his sister. The birth happened, Scar named the male as his heir - he also seemed like the "boys come first" type - and Simba showed up the very next day. Within a week after THAT, the banishment happened. That’s always been my theory about Vitani. Nala was “R” by Scar and she too was ashamed to keep her but learned to accept her first daughter after Zira died.
It's not that deep, Vitani looks like her mother. Kovu supposedly isn't Scars cub (because that would make him and Kiara cousins) but Nuka apparently is. Kovu looks like Scar because of the parallels between them.
I mean yes and no, cause this would happen in the real wild and its more-so natural mating for the throne than "R"

Vitani and Kovu are littermates. Vitani was born first for this to even make sense she would of had to be a teen lion since she would need to be 3 months older then Kiara who would of had to be 3 months to beable to wonder around on her own
But we see in the deleted scene itself that Nala left the pridelands directly after she rejected Scar for the first time, and we know for sure that they didn’t mate during the scene itself (because Y’know… it’s a kids film…) so there would’ve never been an opportunity for Scar and Nala to mate.
Plus, either way… that scene isn’t canon to the film, since it was deleted and they never acknowledge it in the film.
The way Nala said her name so vigorously shows they have a history. And out of all Zira’s cubs, Vitani is the one who looks adopted. This also explains why she was so willing to accept Kovu when Nuka wasn’t. If neither of them were Zira’s kids.
I mean Vitani being more accepting of Kovu could also be because they are closer in age and Vitani has nothing to lose from him being king.

I can tell you EXACTLY why Vitani looked nothing like her brothers right now. The artist used a different style of drawing "lionesses" to male lions to begin with so audiences can recognise the gender of the lions. Then with this story, the artist had to differentiate Pride Rock lionesses from non-Pride Rock lionesses. THE END.
Lionesses look quite different from lions in real life. ;-)
But, yeah, they did specifically draw the outlanders and pridelanders dfferently - until one scene in the end when Kiara and Kovu were pointing out how they don't look any different.

I think this theory is unlikely mainly because Vitani looks too much like the rest of the Outlanders instead of the Pridelanders dispite her fur and eye color.

Honestly, visually I think they just look different to depict their personalities + set them apart as characters. Lion king isn't the type of movie series to have complicated lore.

-the deleted scene with Scar asking Nala to be his queen is not canon, since it was deleted and it’s never acknowledged in the film.
-Even if it was, in the scene itself, Nala rejects mating with Scar. And directly after she rejects him, we see her leave the pridelands to go find help. Therefore, there would’ve never been an opportunity for Scar and Nala to have mated.
Tho it's still a possibility as even without the scene, it's clearly implied that Scar had an interest in nala or was intended to
I definitely believe that 1 or 2 of those kids (Kovu, Vitani and Nuka) are his kids and a lioness abonded them or Simba banished them
@@ContonCityNews yes but it’s implied in the scene that Scar had only started taking an interest in Nala right before she left, so it’s unlikely. I suppose it isn’t impossible, but I still find it unlikely.
I do also believe that Scar could definitely be Nuka’s father, and maybe even Vitani’s.

Well one thing that contradicts this is the inconsistency with Nalas eye color. They're green in the first film and the show but blue in the second movie. Also you seem to forget that Vitani seems to be Kovus older sister. Though that might just be implied.

Don't forget kovu is adopted because the first born is not ideally fit. His death symbolized that
from what ive read nuka was apparently sick, thus the termites/fleas infestation and zira's decision to adopt kovu thinking nuka wont make it, for some reason i have a theory why everyone was so thin, that they were mostly feeding him because it would make no sense he grew up into a healthy lion and not looking thin like them
@@dumbfukx Well yeah but I was talking about his mental state his willingness to prove his worth in the most impulsive way possible like scar if Nuka have bide his time and waited to make his move and let Kovu slip up. His mother would have shifted her favor on Kovu and he would have had a chance to prove himself worthy. In other words Nuka lacked patience and was not using his mind his emotions got in his way and that is why he met his fate to Boulder Kun

Kiara and Vitani have the same colour fur but Kiara is younger than Vitani, EWWW!!!!! Vitani and Kiara are sister in laws if Kiara was Vitani’s sister but who are Kovu and Nuka’s father? All three of them said ‘Scar’ then in the lion guard Kovu said to Kion “Zira has completed her circle of life”. Why didn’t say “My mother has completed her circle of life”

The "cut" scene that you showed clips of is not, in fact, cut content. It is an incredibly well-done fan animation made in reference to a song from the Broadway Musical. The song in question is called "The Madness of King Scar".
He showed the finished fan animation, but the storyboard made by disney of this exists - and that was cut from the movie.

No, it was an actual deleted scene that was left as a storyboard and some fan remade
I know it’s a theory but I think it’s unlikely simply because it’s Disney but it would be interesting. They dropped the Scar and Nala scene for a reason so I can’t see them wanting to even imply anything either. I do wish they would have given us more cannon story it would have been interesting.
But that doesn't prove it is or isn't cannon. For example, the lion guard isn't cannon for a lot of people.
There is also a theory that Vitani was Nala's half sister (same mom and scar was Vitani's father) it can still explain why she mocks Nala later in the movie. Perhaps she was mad that big sister didn't fight her to stay in the pride.

Yeah but disney isn't so innocent, there is also a deleted scene in which scar flirts with Nala, praises her body. When you think about it disney is full of dark themes.

Because of that war scene dialogue, I actually do believe in this theory. Also, Disney wouldn't have even MADE a disturbing scene like that if it wasn't meant to be cannon.
That’s why it was deleted… because it was disturbing. Deleted scenes are not canon in any film unless the film itself acknowledges them.

It WAS supposed to be canon that Nala left Pride Rock not only to try find help, but because she was escaping Scar's advances as he wanted her as his queen, not Sarabi. Now whether or not they did mate and she secretly had Vitani...that's all fan theory but it would be disturbing because that insinuates Scar r'ped her.

Vitani looks much more like Zira than like Nala. Like... way more.
Vitani looks nothing like Nala she just has the same colouring as her like most of the lionesses do (all the lionesses have similiar if not the same colouring). Nala has a way more filled out face while Vitani takes on the Outlander look. From what l know Vitani is the second born of Zira and Scar but because Nuka was weak and Vitani was a girl Scar REJECTED both as his heir and asked Zira to get another one (another cub) which is where Kovu then comes in. Plus if Nala is actually Vitani's mother no doubt Nala would NOT have gone to look for Simba out of shame. Also if Nala was Vitani's mother Zira for sure would not have accepted her into the outlander pride, plus not to mention when Nuka says "he's not even our brother" he says OUR, Nuka is older than Vitani and therefore would know if she was related to him or not. Not to mention Nala has supposedly had 3 cubs already Kiara, Kopa, and Kion l doubt there was a 4th. Also the scene where Scar approaches Nala because he needed an Heir is very easy to explain: Sarabi was obviously going to stay loyal to the pride and Mufasa even though he is dead, and with Sarabi being the Queen and rejecting Scar he knew he would have to pick someone else, Nala was the perfect option for him because she is independent and obviously didn't follow everything her mother and the other Lionesses said including Sarabi, so Nala was the perfect target because she was indepenent and didn't always follow with the others. Although this is a good storyline there is just too much facts to debunk it.

I think you should have mentioned the fan animation “The madness of King Scar” by Eduardo Quintana since you used their animation when discussing the Lion King deleted scene. This animation was not by Disney. There is a storyboarded and voice acted deleted scene of Scar coming onto Nala *and* the offical broadway musical makes a song and scene inspired by the deleted scene. *AND* that is the audio that the fan animation was then animated to. But this RUclips video doesn’t use the deleted scene storyboard as background footage, it uses Eduardo’s animation instead.
This theory is accurate. There's a delete scene where Scar tries to force himself onto Nala. I feel so bad for her.

The reason she looks nothing like Kovu and Nuka is that they are both males. Also, Nuka says he has a different father to Kovu, so Vitani is either only full sibling to only one of them or half sibling to both if she has a different father too.
I always thought she was an orphan cub that was taking in by Scar like Kovu was. I wasn't so sure about Nuka though either being Scar's biological son or another orphan cub he took in.

Interesting. When I first saw Lion King 2 I immediately liked it more than the first. I like the Shadow Land or whatever the dark area was called's pride and this theory is really interesting.
I always thought she was supposed to look like Zira. Zira had light fur. She could have gotten her eye color from her father because it's stated in the movie that Scar wasn't Kovu's father which means he isn't Vitani's father either if they were meant to be from the same litter

Now, I could have sworn it was established in the movie that Kovu is Scar's son, directly. But it has been a while since I last watched it. At the very least there was a clear theme that he, above all the other Outsiders, was the "chosen successor"' to Scar's legacy. He certainly bears a very strong resemblance to Scar (as does Nuka) so it seems reasonable to assume they're biological brothers and that Zira is their mother.
While it may simply be a matter of "hard living" Vitani strikes me as being older than both Kovu and Kiara, and sufficiently so as to make it unlikely that she would be born after Nala reunited with Simba. Part of this may just be that there is no timeline set in stone as to exactly how long after defeating Scar that Nala gave birth to Kiara at the end of the first movie. We do know, for obvious reasons, that a significant period of time passed from when Simba fled into the jungle to when he returned to the Pridelands.
If we are to assume that Vitani really is Nala's daughter my theory would be that she was born shortly BEFORE Nala left the Pridelands, and that Nala's departure was as much a "scouting mission" as it was a desperate desire to distance herself from Scar and his "unholy seed" (much as many women today wish to have nothing to do with a child conceived under traumatic circumstances even to the point of having that child's life ended). It wasn't fair to Vitani, obviously, and that surely would feed her bitterness if she were to learn of their relation later on. It seems entirely likely that after returning with Simba and dethroning Scar Nala would have had no interest in raising Scar's child despite the cub also being her own.
She could have simply told Simba that Vitani was one of Scar's offspring and he'd banish her along with the other Outsiders without much thought to who the mother of this cub might be. Zira then would take Vitani under her tutelage and feed the bitterness, anger, and resentment towards Nala while fostering loyalty to her e.g. "unlike that arrogant, pretentious lioness who abandoned you I have been here for you and I made you strong."
It is also possible that Scar would have been the one to plant the initial seed of bitterness towards Nala by telling a very young Vitani that her mother abandoned her, and depending on exactly how much time passed after Nala fled the Pridelands to when she returned Vitani may have been old enough to recognize her mother from Scar's description of her but kept her distance. While it is possible Nala and Simba originally had no intention of banishing any cubs sired by Scar as they had not done anything wrong just by being born seeing Nala so quickly move on to Simba and a new cub may have spurred Vitani to lash out, maybe even attack Kiara at some point between the end credits of the first movie and the opening of the second, and to prevent any further attempts Simba would exile the offspring, and Zira was waiting to welcome them into her own pride.
This could explain the venom in her voice when asking "Where's your pretty daughter" and why Nala knew this outsider's name despite Vitani only being a cub when she was exiled, yet didn't seem to know Nuka or Kovu (again, to my memory and it has been a while so I could be mistaken). Having been gaslit and manipulated by Zira and possibly Scar as well Vitani could reasonably have been under the impression that Nala abandoned her for not being "good enough" but "the daughter of the pretty-boy you replaced my father with was worth holding on to." And the way Nala snarled Vitani's name wasn't disdainful or dismissive as one might be towards a mere "enemy," it was angry and vengeful, indicating a deep, personal, and arguably righteous hatred towards her which would certainly make sense of a young Vitani had attempted to eliminate Kiara in a fit of jealous rage.
The movie made it very clear that Kovu was not Scars cub. In the beginning of the movie, right before the other lions sung to Kovu. The oldest son was expressing how he was annoyed with watch Kovu and he mentions Kovu was not Scars son, "he just took him in".

This theory relies on lions only having one cub at a time. They don't.
They don't in real life but the only time The Lion King depicts the birth of a cub, there's only one cub born.

@@lizzabee_18 It's probably about keeping stories simple over realism but it does stilt how far certain theories can go. I'd have liked a bit of sibling rivalry after Simba's return to the pride, something to mirror Scar and Mufasa.

The only thing that we know for sure is that Nuka is Ziras kid with scar because zira is kovu but scar is not Kouv dad, because Nyla said the second movie, he’s not and I definitely think Vitani is Nala baby there’s just so much proof and the way they interacted in the second movie and I think scar forced his way on to Nala because she would never do that with him
Nuka aside, I always just assumed that Vitani was Ziras cub and despite being raised as siblings was betrothed to Kovu in the same way Simba and Nala were, and it felt like Vitani hated Kiara because she took away her chance to be “queen”.

can we add the fact that the leader of the lion guard is someone who is the sibling of the ruler, Scar to Mufasa, Kion to Kiara , Vitani to Kiara , so Im i would think there is a family connection
While there was a cut scene about Scar going after Nala, it never got animated. That was fan animated.

I have a question that hopefully you could answer in another video. Why didn't Zira and her outlanders pride didn't come to Scar's rescue in part 1 since Zira had already given birth to Nuka by then?
I say there is very clear evidence that she is not Nala's daughter, and that is the dark ring of fur around her eyes. We see it on Zira and all the female Outsiders, but we don't see on Nala or any of the Pridelander females.

If Kiara, Kovu, and Vitani are meant to be about the same age (with Kovu and Vitani being slightly older) this doesn't fit. Nala would have had to abandon her at birth and get pregnant with Kopa/Kiara immediately upon finding Simba, but even so Vitani would be much older than Kiara by the time she meets Kovu.
Another possibility is that she was Sarafina's cub with Scar or another rogue, but Sarafina died so Zira fostered her -- still, would have to be a very runty cub and born after Simba's return.
I mean in the broadway, there was a whole song about Scar harassing Nala and that’s why Nala left Pride Rock

Actually I’m pretty sure Disney said that the oldest cub of zira is hers and scars but scar wanted a strong son and was unhappy about it then they had vitani but scar wanted a boy so he sent Zara away until she came back with a cub that was fit to be a king and that makes some sense cause that could be why in the first movie Zira wasn’t there to help scar 😊❤

I always thought, based on how the ages seemed, Vitani and Kovu were twins and never thought that Vitani was Nala's

Vitani doesn't look that much like Nala, her eyes are a deep purple rather than a shade of blue and the little beard and smaller jaw
i think the golden yellow coat is more to distinguish the main cast as almost all the "good" main characters have it (Simba, Nala, Kiara) although if i remember correctly all the lions have it early in the first lion king

The reason why Nala left was because she wanted to avoid further advances and ending up pregnant, not that she'd have been already pregnant. In the creepy scene that ended up cut from the movie, we clearly see that Nala fights back early enough and leaves immediately when Scar tries to force her by announcing her his queen in front of the other lionesses. If Scar did have cubs, it was with Zira.
One slight problem, Nala wouldn't be able to have cub so soon after having Vitani. They seem the same age so wouldn't have been possible. Even if Nala had her before leaving the pride lands, it would have probably be full year to have more cubs if she abandoned Vitani. Leaving quite the age and size gap between Kiara and Vitani.

While i only have watched lion guard and haven't even touched lion king 1 or 2 i just can't see Nala giving up Vitani and i can definitely see her defending Vitani from banishment she just seemed like the type to defend all of her children to me (whether she wanted them or not)
