I’d love to see lion king about scar and Zira as well as a movie about scars and mufasa’s parents!! Or even a movie that goes into more detail about kovu’s past!! That I think people would watch.

Kovu's parents had to be within the Night Pride. Nuka is Scar's son, and Nuka had the same traits as Scar and Zira. Kovu on the other hand is a good guy, and he does look alike to the Night Pride.
He really does i was thinking he was related to Rani and balio when they were first introduced but by kion being Rani's mate Kovu couldn't be Related to the night pride directly as Surak is Rani and baliyos uncle and Nirmala's Mate(they are infact married looked it up) so he could possibly be related to some other lions that left the tree of Left after healing from an injury that we just haven't heard of yet

Just imagine if Kovu was Rani's long lost older brother. That could even tie into her parents' death. When Rani and Baliyo were practically newborn cubs - lets say for argument's sake they are from the same litter - Zira and her followers attacked the Tree of Life for whatever reason (that might even be what ultimately led to Simba banishing them). The Night Pride managed to fend them off but Sâhasí and Ãnanda were killed in battle, Rani was injured (that would explain her own scar) and Kovu kidnapped (maybe precicely because he resembles Scar so much). Due to the trauma of what happened his earliest memories are repressed (like what happened in "Anastasia"), so he genuenly doesen't know anything about his birth family or where he came from. The possibillities for storylines practically write themselves!

Scar not only refused treatment for his eye due due to how far away it was (and the pridelands was going thru tough times during that time) but i rlly doubt with the timelines they traveled to the tree of life. It took kion years. Tree of life is way too far away. It’s not as close as you think.
Yet there's the theory Vitani is Scar and Nala's daughter because Scar originally wanted Nala as his queen. According to this fan theory, they had a cub who was Vitani, but it's canon that Nala ran away to find help and that's when she found Simba. So Scar gave Vitani to Zira who raised her like her own cub. In the final fight between the Outlanders and the Pridelanders, Vitani says to Nala "Where's your pretty daughter, Nala?" Obviously referring to Kiara but people have theorized she was mentioning herself.
At this point does anybody else think that the reason they didn't specify Kovu as the son of another lion was because they wanted to leave it up to fans to speculate about Kovu's biological father, or were they just short on time after repeatedly stating that it wasn't Scar? Edit: I believe that Zira and Scar had Nuka and Zira befriended Chumvi and had Vitani and Kovu with him before he either died or left the pride.
That's completely ridiculous. Kovu's father literally doesn't matter. What does matter is who Kovu is *not* the son of - Scar. And there's no way you're convincing me Zira didn't give birth to any of her children. These details should have already been in the movie and show.
I think that Chumvi and Kula are Kovu's parents because both of them have Brown fur and Chumvi has the same pshycal appereance as kovu according to fan art, I think Kovu got Green eyes from another family member
@@Nalabear_2020 Scar also has an outlander nose. If you look up pictures of actual lions both noses appear on similar looking lions. It's probably just a thing like fur color but this brings up the question why no one from Pride-Rock had a black nose besides Scar while literally all the outlanders had black noses. But Disney isn't that accurate to how the animals work anyway.

I'm not sure the age adds up for Kovu to be Scar's son. He's Kiara's age and if you take into consideration that Simba and Nala had a different cub at the end of the first movie (I know, I know that's a whole other can of worms but having lost a child would explain why Simba's so overprotective) some time had to have passed. Scar would have been dead well before then

Lion King and Lion King II were there before Lion Guard. We're talking 1994 and 1998 vs 2015. Disney probably never planned for Lion King being so popular that they would be still making content about it 20 years later. So using Lion Guard context to explain what happened in the films is kinda doomed to fail. Those films were made without Lion Guard in mind so Kiara is in fact Simbas first (and only) child in the movies. Kovu and Kiara also don't need to be the exact same age. Judging how Kovu first appeared in LK2 he was older than Simba in LK because his mane already started growing instead of the little fluff Simba head. If Kiara is the age of Simba in the first movie and Kovu is a bit older it works out. I personally have multiple possible theories. TL:DR: Kovu got either stolen from another pride or adopted by Scar after his parents got killed in some way either unrelated or directly by Scar and his minions. Nuka said "Scar took him in" so this proves that Kovu was born before Scar died. First one is shortly before Simba returned and Scar was ruling Pride-Rock a Lioness (with or without her husband) and her cub travelled through the land and stayed at Pride-Rock for a short time. Why? Because when Scar saw Kovu he instantly saw himself and a worthy successor and being his sneaky self he offered them a place to stay and arranged the death of Kovus mother / parents through the Hyenas so he could adopt Kovu. With Kovu still being basically a baby there would be theoretically enough time for Kiara to grow and only being a few months younger than him. Alternatively the Lioness was still pregnant and gave birth to Kovu at Pride-Rock and when he saw the cub Scar decided to "take him in" while the rest of the theory stays the same. Second theory is the Hyenas killed and ate everything they could get their hands on and stumbled over baby-Kovu and his parents / pride. Scar had already ordered them to bring orphaned cubs to him to be "judged" as food or if they would be joining the pride, ideally as his successor. This could be because Scar realized he was incapable of producing an heir on the level of Mufasa or Simba with Zira and the other Lionesses would reject him so he needed an alternative besides Nuka. Third theory is Scar, Zira and the Hyenas killed Kovus parents when he was a baby to take him in or straight up stole him from another pride roaming the lands for the same reasons described above. Maybe Vitani was stolen from somewhere else as well. This could've been common practice for Scars rule when we theorize he didn't allow any other Lions at all but when he stumbled upon Kovu he saw the solution to all his problems. In all three theories it makes sense that Kovu thought highly of Scar because he treated him well despite not having to do it. Same as he thought highly of Zira for raising him. Also Nuka and Vitani were like his siblings although they weren't. This suggests that Kovu was so young when he lost his parents that the Outlanders are all that he knew. And because of that Simba kicked him out with the others as well because he wasn't "One of us".
Kovu was never meant to be Scar's son for the romance between him and Kiara to make sense, basically making them cousins if he was related to Scar. Nuka and Vitani were his children, Nuke was a failure and Vitani was female, he saw potential in Kovu and chose him as his successor.
Given Kovu's fur and mane color, one of his biological parents was a night pride lion, as The Lion Guard is canon. Scar's mother, Uru, was likely a member of night pride too, which explains why Scar's mane and fur color is similar to Kovu's and so different from all the pridelanders.
In the Lion Guard show, there is a lion at the trre of life that could be his father, because even he has brown fur and mane; we're speaking about Surak, Rani and Baliyo's uncle.

Simba still had to travel back to the pridelands, fight scar, and watch the ecosystem bounce back before presenting her as a new born, in front of all the animals that also had to travel back from where they fleed to during Scars reign. Thats a pretty long time. Gestation only runs for a little over 3 months.
I interpreted things as Kovu was supposed to be Scar’s son, but someone realized that would make him and Kiara super closely related. Anyway my theory is he and Vitani were still Scar’s children, but by a different lioness than Zira. That when Simba took over their mother was going to give them up to be killed but Zira saved them due to Kovu’s strong resemblance to Scar. In this case them telling Kovu he isn’t related to Scar is pure cope, because Zira doesn’t like to think Scar might have loved another lioness more. I think Zira is grooming Kovu to challenge Simba because she knows Nuka wouldn’t win in a fair fight but secretly plans on replacing King Kovu with her own son after Simba is out of the picture.
I think, the only reason it makes sense that Scar isn't the father is because, knowing her feelings and devotion to her cause, Zera would have 100% used that as ammo to fuel Kovu's hatred towards Simba even further during his indoctrination. Besides, I just can't see Scar actually reciprocating feelings for her. If anything, he might have seen her as the best option available to him when considering the idea of producing an heir, but I think she just worshipped him in a one-sided love affair.

Basically scar and Zira had Nuka but Nuka was weak ant stuff so scar didn't want him so then Scar told Zira to get another mate with another lion ant then Scar and Zira would look after the cub but it was a girl(Vitani) and Scar didn't want a girl so Scar told Zira to steal a cub from a different pride
I did lots of research on this and what I could gather was that zira and scar had nuka who was too ratty to be an heir so had vitani who scar thought was not capable as she was a girl so sent zira looking for a good cub so she attacked a neighbouring pride stole their newborn cub and scar was satisfied.
But if it is the truth that Kovu s parents are Zira and Scar then soulden t Kovu been Kiara s cousin. If you think about it. Mufasa and Scar were brothers and Simba is the nephew of Scar and Simba is father of Kiara and Mufasa is the father of Scar but like isen t that a blood conection? Like souden t they be cousins?
That is exactly why in the movie it is stated by Nuka, that Kovu isn´t Scars son but just adopted, so no one starts to think, Kiara and Kovu are getting in any kind of incestous relatioinship.
Disney's original storyline Kovu was scars son. Because they were lions. I myself would have been fine with that They let fear Put too many blanks in a good story line . With scars Personality . I think all three of them are scar’s but only Nuka is Zira’s. Scar wouldn’t have named another lion’s cub his heir. He wanted his lineage to be immortal as we see in the deleted scene when he asks Nala to be his queen. There were no other male lions in the pride besides scar and it just so happens that Kovu looks just like him. Scar had Nuka with zira but saw how he was genetically inferior so he impregnated another lioness and she gave him Vitani and kovu. Zira is Nuka, Vitani and Kovu's biological mother. her children have called her 'mother' as cubs also. Their father is an unknown rouge who is never mentioned in the film. Zira is Scar's follower and fan girl who's obsessed with him. Vitani is not adopted she's clearly Zira's biological daughter. Nuka is complaining about Kovu is because he's jealous of him being heir to Scar rather than him when he's older and feels he should be next in line to take over. Nuka isn't Scar's child ether when Kovu's father isn't Scar ether. Zira had all of them by her ex-mate which can either be dead, or Zira left him for Scar. Vitani got her blue eyes from most likely her biological unknown father, Nuka gotten his black goatee from his father who is not Scar but an unknown male who fathered all of Zira's cubs. Zira's cubs have a mixture between her and their unknown rouge father. Scar is not their father. and yes, it's most likely that Kovu and Vitani are litter mates when they look the same age and same size. This pic I found is clearly what Zira's cubs' father may look like.
I recently started thinking more about this and I think Kovu and Vitani are Tama's and Chumvi's (childhood friends of Simba and Nala, who are sami canon, along with few other cubs, I think they were in some books, like Simba and Nala's firstborn Kopa) cubs, who Zira and Scar took from their parents. To me it's pretty logical since Tama is quite fluffy and has bangs, and similar colors to Vitani, and Chumvi has similar colors to Kovu. It might be a stretch but it is certainly more logical to me than some crazy theories, like Vitani being Nala and Scar's secret daughter.
King Regandi is Kovu father ❤ When Kovu was a cub, Zira stole him from Regandi. Many seasons later, after Zira's death, Regandi reunited with his adult son. Kovu and his bride, Aisha, later joined Regandi in his territory.
Nah, forget what the people at disney said lol.. What happened is Scar (non-consensually) mated with Nala. Nala got pregnant, ran away and had Kovu in a bush somewhere. Ashamed, she abandoned him before leaving to finding Simba. Scar found the cub while trying to find Nala. Scar gave the cub for Zira to take care of, never admitting he got Nala pregnant so he acted like he didn't know who the parents were. And Nala never told Simba about the cub...
My own theory, and I'm fine that others may dismiss it.... At the end of The Lion King, the lion cub held up is confirmed as a male in every book released at the time. In Simba's Pride, the cub is now a female. Most people just retro it and say that the it's Kiara in the first movie, but let's say that there really was a male, and for some reason he was gotten rid of. Why would he have been discarded? Well, let's say, to avoid inbreeding because these are intelligent lions not wild lions, there is something of an interkingdom trade between prides. That they are required to deliver a cub for a cub basically, to be raised by the other Pride so that there's no inbreeding, and so that peaceful relations remain between prides (you don't want to go to war against your son or daughter.) This would potentially make Nala a trade from another pride rather than Simba's cousin or half sister, avoiding incestual relations (and note, she was affianced to Simba as a baby, so chosen to be the next queen.) Kovu could have come from another pride who were expecting a cub in return just as Simba returned and took over the Pride. In order to keep the peace, Simba would have to trade his son to them, even though he didn't have Kovu. This theory also explains why Scar 'chose' Kovu to be his heir rather than focusing on his own offspring, as it may have been expected that the first born of the other pride would be the next king (again, you don't want to war against your son, so he couldn't be lesser lion...) and even opens the possibility that Scar actually chose him from a litter as his heir, perhaps choosing the one that resembled him the most so he could pass him off as his own. This may seem a bit convoluted but when you look at royal families and intermarriages and such, marriages and matches and children were often placed for politically motivated reasons and alliances rather than love. Of course they didn't care so much about inbreeding, they rather relied on it. But trading a prince for a prince, or a princess for a princess, so that the royalty of your neighbors are YOUR family as well, would cement alliances or at the least guarantee peace.
Kovu wasn't abandoned , Scar was disapointed with how Nuka was , vitani wasn't what scar was looking for either so he told zira to find a new cub which she did and then killed kovu's real parents, bringing him back to the outlans (or maybe pride Rock to show Scar.
My theory is that since Scar had not only the pridelanss pride, but Zira's outlander pride as well, he simply decreed that the first male cub born under his rule would be his successor. Nuka is Scar's son but was born before Scar claimed power and was already showing neurological issues by then, and so he decided it would be better to choose an heir rather than try to biologically have one.
I feel bad for Kovu, we don’t know what happened to his real parents, his adopted mother who crazy for a evil false King raise him to be a killing machine just to avenge her idol. Never ask what Kovu wants.
I have a theory that Scar thought Kovu was his, but after he died his mother confessed Scar wasn't his father. Scar being who he was and with all the available lionesses I don't think he would have picked a cub which wasn't his. Zira might not have believed the mother, or just followed Scars decision anyway despite his parentage.

I don´t think, that´s a valid argument. My foster child sometimes calls me Mama instead of my first name, and she is 15 years old living for nearly two years with us. Smaller kids tend to call the people around them the way these people are introduced to them. Another example from my family (we live in Germany, just to explain the words I use for this), my grandmother was always called "Uschi" by all of the family except my mother, which called her "Mutsch" another word for mom. Even thought, she was my Grandma, and kids in Germany usually call their grandmother "Oma" and the grandfather "Opa", I never called her that, even once. She was always "Uschi" to me, while my greatgrandmother was always called "Anni-Oma". Taking this example, imagine you take in a baby or toddler and teach it to call you mother, it will do exactly that, no matter, if you are its mother or not. If you give birth to a child and teach it to call you by your first name, it will do so, because that´s what you taught it. Same can be applied to Zira and the fact, that Kovu calls her mother, it is, what she taught him. In conclussion, no matter, how Kovu calls Zira, it is at least no prove for her biological parentship, but just for what she taught him to call her.
A note for the first theory that doesn't actually matter because Simba came back: The way that noble and royal lines of succession work, it literally doesn't matter at all if anyone thought for a second that Kovu wasn't Scar's biological son. Scar, the current reigning king, adopted Kovu and named him heir, so unless Scar had biological children and decided to rename his heir as one of them, Kovu has the rightful claim once Scar passes. If Disney changed the reasons given in the movie, the second movie could literally be a war for succession instead of an assassination attempt, given that Scar WAS the ruling body for that land and he DID have a named heir that DID end up trying to take over the Pridelands, to claim them as a figurehead for the mistress of the king instead of as an actual ruling king himself, but hey, history is full of that and the first two Lion King movies are based on Shakespeare's Hamlet so pay heed to Kovu for there is method to his madness
To be fair Nuka is Scar's son, but in his eyes was wrong and then Vitani came into the picture, but we don't know who her parents are either, unless it is Zira and someone else, maybe also one of Scar's cubs? It could be Vitani came first thinking that Simba's son would be next in line, but then Kiara was born and was next in line, so Zira found Kovu and just says he was Scar's chosen one, since they needed him to get to Simba through Kiara. At least that's what I think happened and also Nuka was too old at that time also to be a good pick as he wouldn't of been able to get into Simba's pride easily since they seem to know who he was.
@@JackalopeBunny I wasn't sure if Nuka was biologically Scar's or not, his attitude does in the movie does make it look like it but I don't remember if it was confirmed or not. In any case though, Scar clearly found Nuka less acceptable than Kovu and by naming Kovu heir that gets around lineage but opens the floor for Nuka to make an attempt to take his position back or else act as we saw him act - extremely resentful and needing prove himself worthier than the adopted child. Half the wars and battles before the Industrial Revolution were started because someone felt they deserved to be the heir of this or that instead of the person actually chosen for the position
@JackalopeBunny I don't disagree, but his focus was on getting his mother's love and attention by showing he could be better than Kovu, not in showing he'd be better suited to ruling than Kovu. It's slightly different but sends him down a similar path either way
For those of you saying Kovu was stolen from the Night Pride... how?! The Night Pride, as we saw in the Lion Guard, took Kion and Co. a VERY long time to get there. By the time they did, Kiara had gone on her first hunt, the Outlanders invaded the Pridelands, and the prides merged together. Heck, this was plenty of time for Vitani to get another Lion Guard up and running before Kion and company returned home.

In the lion gard there is a pride at the tree of life and all the lions there look like covue and they have a relationship to the pride lands so he could very well be from the tree of life plus one of the lions is kions age and her parents died when she was young so she could have a brother that was born before her

The Night Pride managed to fend them off but Sâhasí and Ãnanda were killed in battle, Rani was injured (that would explain her own scar) and Kovu kidnapped (maybe precicely because he resembles Scar so much). Due to the trauma of what happened his earliest memories are repressed (like what happened in "Anastasia"), so he genuenly doesen't know anything about his birth family or where he came from. The possibillities for storylines practically write themselves!

Yet there's the theory Vitani is Scar and Nala's daughter because Scar originally wanted Nala as his queen. According to this fan theory, they had a cub who was Vitani, but it's canon that Nala ran away to find help and that's when she found Simba. So Scar gave Vitani to Zira who raised her like her own cub. In the final fight between the Outlanders and the Pridelanders, Vitani says to Nala "Where's your pretty daughter, Nala?" Obviously referring to Kiara but people have theorized she was mentioning herself.

Lion King and Lion King II were there before Lion Guard. We're talking 1994 and 1998 vs 2015. Disney probably never planned for Lion King being so popular that they would be still making content about it 20 years later. So using Lion Guard context to explain what happened in the films is kinda doomed to fail. Those films were made without Lion Guard in mind so Kiara is in fact Simbas first (and only) child in the movies. Kovu and Kiara also don't need to be the exact same age. Judging how Kovu first appeared in LK2 he was older than Simba in LK because his mane already started growing instead of the little fluff Simba head. If Kiara is the age of Simba in the first movie and Kovu is a bit older it works out.
I personally have multiple possible theories. TL:DR: Kovu got either stolen from another pride or adopted by Scar after his parents got killed in some way either unrelated or directly by Scar and his minions. Nuka said "Scar took him in" so this proves that Kovu was born before Scar died.
First one is shortly before Simba returned and Scar was ruling Pride-Rock a Lioness (with or without her husband) and her cub travelled through the land and stayed at Pride-Rock for a short time. Why? Because when Scar saw Kovu he instantly saw himself and a worthy successor and being his sneaky self he offered them a place to stay and arranged the death of Kovus mother / parents through the Hyenas so he could adopt Kovu. With Kovu still being basically a baby there would be theoretically enough time for Kiara to grow and only being a few months younger than him. Alternatively the Lioness was still pregnant and gave birth to Kovu at Pride-Rock and when he saw the cub Scar decided to "take him in" while the rest of the theory stays the same.
Second theory is the Hyenas killed and ate everything they could get their hands on and stumbled over baby-Kovu and his parents / pride. Scar had already ordered them to bring orphaned cubs to him to be "judged" as food or if they would be joining the pride, ideally as his successor. This could be because Scar realized he was incapable of producing an heir on the level of Mufasa or Simba with Zira and the other Lionesses would reject him so he needed an alternative besides Nuka.
Third theory is Scar, Zira and the Hyenas killed Kovus parents when he was a baby to take him in or straight up stole him from another pride roaming the lands for the same reasons described above. Maybe Vitani was stolen from somewhere else as well. This could've been common practice for Scars rule when we theorize he didn't allow any other Lions at all but when he stumbled upon Kovu he saw the solution to all his problems.
In all three theories it makes sense that Kovu thought highly of Scar because he treated him well despite not having to do it. Same as he thought highly of Zira for raising him. Also Nuka and Vitani were like his siblings although they weren't. This suggests that Kovu was so young when he lost his parents that the Outlanders are all that he knew. And because of that Simba kicked him out with the others as well because he wasn't "One of us".
Kovu was never meant to be Scar's son for the romance between him and Kiara to make sense, basically making them cousins if he was related to Scar.
Nuka and Vitani were his children, Nuke was a failure and Vitani was female, he saw potential in Kovu and chose him as his successor.

Given Kovu's fur and mane color, one of his biological parents was a night pride lion, as The Lion Guard is canon. Scar's mother, Uru, was likely a member of night pride too, which explains why Scar's mane and fur color is similar to Kovu's and so different from all the pridelanders.

In this case them telling Kovu he isn’t related to Scar is pure cope, because Zira doesn’t like to think Scar might have loved another lioness more. I think Zira is grooming Kovu to challenge Simba because she knows Nuka wouldn’t win in a fair fight but secretly plans on replacing King Kovu with her own son after Simba is out of the picture.
I think, the only reason it makes sense that Scar isn't the father is because, knowing her feelings and devotion to her cause, Zera would have 100% used that as ammo to fuel Kovu's hatred towards Simba even further during his indoctrination. Besides, I just can't see Scar actually reciprocating feelings for her. If anything, he might have seen her as the best option available to him when considering the idea of producing an heir, but I think she just worshipped him in a one-sided love affair.

I did lots of research on this and what I could gather was that zira and scar had nuka who was too ratty to be an heir so had vitani who scar thought was not capable as she was a girl so sent zira looking for a good cub so she attacked a neighbouring pride stole their newborn cub and scar was satisfied.
But if it is the truth that Kovu s parents are Zira and Scar then soulden t Kovu been Kiara s cousin. If you think about it. After seeing The Lion Guard series Kovu’s parents could have been from the Night Pride. They are darker than the lions of the Pridelands.
I recently started thinking more about this and I think Kovu and Vitani are Tama's and Chumvi's (childhood friends of Simba and Nala, who are sami canon, along with few other cubs, I think they were in some books, like Simba and Nala's firstborn Kopa) cubs, who Zira and Scar took from their parents. To me it's pretty logical since Tama is quite fluffy and has bangs, and similar colors to Vitani, and Chumvi has similar colors to Kovu. It might be a stretch but it is certainly more logical to me than some crazy theories, like Vitani being Nala and Scar's secret daughter.

My own theory, and I'm fine that others may dismiss it.... At the end of The Lion King, the lion cub held up is confirmed as a male in every book released at the time. In Simba's Pride, the cub is now a female. Most people just retro it and say that the it's Kiara in the first movie, but let's say that there really was a male, and for some reason he was gotten rid of. Why would he have been discarded?
Well, let's say, to avoid inbreeding because these are intelligent lions not wild lions, there is something of an interkingdom trade between prides. That they are required to deliver a cub for a cub basically, to be raised by the other Pride so that there's no inbreeding, and so that peaceful relations remain between prides (you don't want to go to war against your son or daughter.) This would potentially make Nala a trade from another pride rather than Simba's cousin or half sister, avoiding incestual relations (and note, she was affianced to Simba as a baby, so chosen to be the next queen.) Kovu could have come from another pride who were expecting a cub in return just as Simba returned and took over the Pride. In order to keep the peace, Simba would have to trade his son to them, even though he didn't have Kovu.
This theory also explains why Scar 'chose' Kovu to be his heir rather than focusing on his own offspring, as it may have been expected that the first born of the other pride would be the next king (again, you don't want to war against your son, so he couldn't be lesser lion...) and even opens the possibility that Scar actually chose him from a litter as his heir, perhaps choosing the one that resembled him the most so he could pass him off as his own.
This may seem a bit convoluted but when you look at royal families and intermarriages and such, marriages and matches and children were often placed for politically motivated reasons and alliances rather than love. Of course they didn't care so much about inbreeding, they rather relied on it. But trading a prince for a prince, or a princess for a princess, so that the royalty of your neighbors are YOUR family as well, would cement alliances or at the least guarantee peace.
Kovu wasn't abandoned , Scar was disapointed with how Nuka was , vitani wasn't what scar was looking for either so he told zira to find a new cub which she did and then killed kovu's real parents, bringing him back to the outlans (or maybe pride Rock to show Scar.
My theory is that since Scar had not only the pridelanss pride, but Zira's outlander pride as well, he simply decreed that the first male cub born under his rule would be his successor. Nuka is Scar's son but was born before Scar claimed power and was already showing neurological issues by then, and so he decided it would be better to choose an heir rather than try to biologically have one.

I have a theory that Scar thought Kovu was his, but after he died his mother confessed Scar wasn't his father. Scar being who he was and with all the available lionesses I don't think he would have picked a cub which wasn't his. Zira might not have believed the mother, or just followed Scars decision anyway despite his parentage.

I don´t think, that´s a valid argument. My foster child sometimes calls me Mama instead of my first name, and she is 15 years old living for nearly two years with us. Smaller kids tend to call the people around them the way these people are introduced to them. Another example from my family (we live in Germany, just to explain the words I use for this), my grandmother was always called "Uschi" by all of the family except my mother, which called her "Mutsch" another word for mom. Even thought, she was my Grandma, and kids in Germany usually call their grandmother "Oma" and the grandfather "Opa", I never called her that, even once. She was always "Uschi" to me, while my greatgrandmother was always called "Anni-Oma".
Taking this example, imagine you take in a baby or toddler and teach it to call you mother, it will do exactly that, no matter, if you are its mother or not. If you give birth to a child and teach it to call you by your first name, it will do so, because that´s what you taught it.
Same can be applied to Zira and the fact, that Kovu calls her mother, it is, what she taught him. In conclussion, no matter, how Kovu calls Zira, it is at least no prove for her biological parentship, but just for what she taught him to call her.

A note for the first theory that doesn't actually matter because Simba came back: The way that noble and royal lines of succession work, it literally doesn't matter at all if anyone thought for a second that Kovu wasn't Scar's biological son. Scar, the current reigning king, adopted Kovu and named him heir, so unless Scar had biological children and decided to rename his heir as one of them, Kovu has the rightful claim once Scar passes. If Disney changed the reasons given in the movie, the second movie could literally be a war for succession instead of an assassination attempt, given that Scar WAS the ruling body for that land and he DID have a named heir that DID end up trying to take over the Pridelands, to claim them as a figurehead for the mistress of the king instead of as an actual ruling king himself, but hey, history is full of that and the first two Lion King movies are based on Shakespeare's Hamlet so pay heed to Kovu for there is method to his madness
To be fair Nuka is Scar's son, but in his eyes was wrong and then Vitani came into the picture, but we don't know who her parents are either, unless it is Zira and someone else, maybe also one of Scar's cubs? It could be Vitani came first thinking that Simba's son would be next in line, but then Kiara was born and was next in line, so Zira found Kovu and just says he was Scar's chosen one, since they needed him to get to Simba through Kiara. At least that's what I think happened and also Nuka was too old at that time also to be a good pick as he wouldn't of been able to get into Simba's pride easily since they seem to know who he was.

In any case though, Scar clearly found Nuka less acceptable than Kovu and by naming Kovu heir that gets around lineage but opens the floor for Nuka to make an attempt to take his position back or else act as we saw him act - extremely resentful and needing prove himself worthier than the adopted child. Half the wars and battles before the Industrial Revolution were started because someone felt they deserved to be the heir of this or that instead of the person actually chosen for the position

For those of you saying Kovu was stolen from the Night Pride... how?! The Night Pride, as we saw in the Lion Guard, took Kion and Co. a VERY long time to get there. By the time they did, Kiara had gone on her first hunt, the Outlanders invaded the Pridelands, and the prides merged together. Heck, this was plenty of time for Vitani to get another Lion Guard up and running before Kion and company returned home.

Well with mufasa the lion king movie making scar and mufasa not biological brothers. Now they can retcon this movie and make Scar the father of vitani , nuka, Kovu . Now Kovu and Kiara are not cousins . They don’t have to worry about cousins falling in love . which was the reason they said scar was not Kovu’s father .

In the lion gard there is a pride at the tree of life and all the lions there look like covue and they have a relationship to the pride lands so he could very well be from the tree of life plus one of the lions is kions age and her parents died when she was young so she could have a brother that was born before her

Kovu doesn’t have the same fur color as scar . Kovu. Has brown fur while. Scar has red fur.
