How refreshing to hear a terrific review of a Seiko five. There are so many channels for the luxury brands that most cannot afford.

The poorman Explorer looks great too. Comes in 3 colors - SKNE01 black, SKND97 white, and SKND 99 blue. At less than a 100 dollars. Then, for less than 200 dollars you can get the HULK SRPB93. The Seiko fans would be happy to see a video of this, my man.

Mechanical watches are one of those things that you can buy today which are not made with planned obsolescence. Seiko gives you a watch for 75 bucks which probably will last for decades. Thank you seiko for making pure mechanical watches affordable to common man.

I have a Seiko with 4r39a movement on a leather strap. I was given to me. It keeps excellent time.
    I had a Seiko 5.
Poor shock and water resistance and no handwinding.
I use a Vostok Amphibia now for daily wear.
Seiko 4r39a for dress use only.

Really strange watching a 4 year old video of you Jodi but thanks to this being recommended on my youtube home page I now have a SNKL23J1 inbound along with an alligator leather strap and a butterfly clasp😍 absolute class watch and I'm grateful for your 4yr old video bringing it to my attention! Already looking at available upgrades such as domed sapphire and some people online upgrading to an NH36

I personally love Seiko watches. I currently have six of them, and I love them all, even the bracelets! They give and form around the wrist without cutting off the air circulation like a leather or rubber one does. In fact the only Seiko I don’t have on its original rattly bracelet is an SKX that came on a rubber strap. Thanks for giving a positive review to the Seiko watch brand. They deserve it for us poor folks at least!

Just got mine snkl23 last week.. Just notice this video was upload 2 years ago.. I believe seiko had bring back this model for production. Super loving it, what a surprise is the accuracy only lost - 2sec or - 3sec perday. Maybe im just lucky

I've got mine about a week ago, first thing I did was to check the serial number. Apparently mine was produced in January 2020. Based on that I think they probably restarted production. I doubt this is old stock, since it was impossible to get for a while.

I bought a snxg47k1 and wear it on it's original comfortable bracelet. I love the look and it's so light I hardly know I am wearing it. I bought it from my local bricks and mortar store and they sized the bracelet for me without charge.
I use it as a fitness reminder watch.
I am 73 and retired so some days I lay around reading and watching RUclips videos.
If I don't do much moving around it just stops.
So then I go for a brisk walk swinging my arms to help wind the watch.
Same thing happens if I stay asleep in bed too long. It stops.
So this watch has become my life saver.
    It keeps good time.
    Buy a watch with a 7s movement.
    It could save your life.

I have a question: since this model is hard to find for the price you mentioned, and when you do find it it’s priced near the $200 mark, which other model (or models) of dressier Seiko 5 do you recommend? I am looking for an automatic watch that I can wear with a suit or dress shirt for occasional formal settings, and you inspired me to get a Seiko 5 like this one. Thank you very much

I've got this one on a bond NATO, great value and classy look. Is it worth upgrading the movement or glass to sapphire crystal? Could use some anti reflective coating a it's not that easy to read on some angles and a bit more premium feel would be nice. Would a new movement be more water resistant or is it to do with the case? Cheers

I just ordered one of these, along with another Seiko 5, the SNK623K1. I got the K1 version to save money, but I plan on trying to swap in an NH36 movement with a Kanji day wheel. FYI, the J1 version of this has an English/Arabic day wheel, NOT an English/Kanji day wheel,. So if Kanji is your thing, buying the J1 model doesn't help you. Since I'm doing that change, I'll also swap in a sapphire crystal. Nothing against hardlex, but why not go all out, right? I'll probably put it on a decent (but not too expensive!) leather strap to dress it up, and also try to find a nicer bracelet. I may do this with both watches, but I'm not too sure yet. I'll see how the first goes. :)

I love this watch but I'm not crazy about the position of the spring bars. They're positioned far out towards the tips of the lugs which creates an odd space between the case and many leather bands I've seen. On this video the space was not apparent on the NATO straps but I don't wish to wear this watch on one of those. Have others noticed this? Has anyone paired a leather strap with it that fills the space better?

K1 is just where its made and what type the strap its using. it varies from different models but the K stands for assembled in Malaysia and 1 would be the Stainless bracelet. Why i said assembled because its parts are all made in Japan. If ur very particular of that and u really want it to be purely Japan then find the SNKL23J1 model. The J stands for Japan assembled.

I know the secret as to how they can offer this for $75 usd. It's a Pepsi watch! Sure! the bracelet is made of old Pepsi cans. OK, maybe old beer cans. I do LOVE the black day/date with white numbers/letters. That is an awesome touch of class. Most other watch makers just use what is available.

You got that for a great deal! I'm vaguely certain that this watch may be getting discontinued soon (similar to the SKX series). I'd expect this to be worth 125-200 USD in a couple of years.

On the fence btwn this model and the snxs79 with the big belly but has a nice dial and just a bit more. I wish Seiko names their watches bc all these model numbers are starting to drive me crazy.
