I have a question about section 1 question 8. On the section, "employee agency information," say if we don't have a particular school that we are applying to or being offer a job, do we just leave it blank? The part is a little confusing.
I'm applying for 30 day substitute but in section 3, there is no 30 day substitute option. The application format has change. There is only, Day-to-Day Substitute/Career Substitute/Prospective Substitute/Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave (TPSL)/CTE Substitute. I assuming it's the Day to Day Substitute, right?
Correct. It would be the day to day.

The paper application can be downloaded at the CTC website. Once you have obtained it, renewal is online.

For the Select authorization/subject areas do I leave that blank if I don't have any credentials on any of those subjects? Or is that area an indicator of what I am going to substitute for?
clos amp Yes, unless of course you have those authorizations. Once you get hired they will ask about your areas of interest. For example, Pre-K, Head Start, middle school, high school, Special education...etc
clos amp If you are in the San Gabriel Valley, I know that BPUSD pays $150/day and $263.99/day for long term. Which means you have to be at the same school site longer than 23 days because the $263.99 a day starts on the 23rd day.

Hi, are the transcripts supposed to be physical transcripts? Or is there a way to send them electronic transcripts? I ask, since at the moment my school isn't doing any physical transcript orders at the moment due to covid. Thank you!

if your school does not process transcripts through the national clearinghouse, they should have a different service provider for online transcripts...ask

Yes. I did the same thing for my Kinesiology degree.
Shop around as well for the lives scan. I believe I paid $57.

for sections 5, the developmental permit renewal verification, is that a completely different permit that we would have to get in order to complete the 30 day emergency teaching credential?
I don't know. I've been waiting for some answers from my school district in order to update this video.

so, should I be printing this form out and completing it? With a paper copy of transcripts and fingerprint scans? I am confused if I am suppost to physically turn it in or if it has to be completed online.

Yes, they do. Your official transcripts will have every CC transcripts you submitted in order to get into CSULB, go Dirtbags!

How much does a Los Angeles Unified School District substitute make a day?
If you are on Edjoin, you can look up each school districts daily rate. Baldwin Park Unified pays $205 daily rate for the 21-22 school year.

Yes. Submit the application as soon as you can. Once you have it, you start applying to different districts.

Where do we send the transcripts to?
I'm currently in College and one semester away from getting my Associates degree, Do you I even need a degree or a Bachelors to become a substitute teacher? I really want to become one and even reroute my career path into becoming a substitute teacher.
You do you need a degree doesn't matter what subject.
I do know of some subs that don't have one but they have been in their district for over 20 years.

That's an excellent question. My initial response is: no.
But I do foresee a situation when you have to complete your CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) and your COC (Cetificate of Clearance).

Arturo Eats - Hello! I have another question. I read online that the ACT can be used to fulfill the CBEST requirement. Is this true? I scores above the benchmark indicated by the CTC for the state of California. However, this was 5 years ago. Will this work in place of the CBEST? Thank you!
@@rachelbachman8720 I'm waiting on confirmation of your ACT score question. But on the CTC website, couldn't find any time constraints for using your ACT scores.

It's not a training. It is a permit, once obtained, renewed every year.

I also wanted to ask you, if I want to be a substitute teacher for high school below do I select 30 Day Substitute or 30 Day CTE substitute.

Also, for number 8, what school district do we fill out? I thought we apply for the permit before looking for jobs?
Stay with the 30-Day Substitute option. Once you're getting hired, you can let the HR rep know of any other permits you have.
If you have a school district that is ready to hire you, ask for their County CDS and School District code. It will move the application much faster.
If not, leave it blank. Hope this helped.

1. Application Form 41-4
2. Live-Scan
3. Academic transcripts (showing the completion of a BA or BS)
4. App fee
i. Form 41-4...$100 made out to Commission on Teacher Credentialing Certification Division
Do you have your Certificate of Clearance? If not, you can pay that online at www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/apply
As of today, CTC is processing applications received before 10/25/2020.
How come you did the paper copy instead of the online copy?
Initially, it has to be done via paper copy. Once you get it, you can renew online. Thank you for the comment.

I had my transcript mailed directly to me, and the envelope says "May Not Be Acceptable To A Third Party If Opened." Should I just put the whole envelope unopened in with my application, or open it and put the transcript in?
Also, you make the cashier's check out to "CTC"?
Do not open it. Send it sealed with your Application.

I have my finger print receipt for my previous finger print for my credentials program. But I never used it. And it shows its still valid on ctc website. Can I just send that receipt to CTC.

@@srsrsr6966 hello. That might have changed. I sent for a hard copy of my transcript and mailed that in along with the rest of the application. Didn't want to risk it, specifically because it takes about 2 months to process, if all goes well.
I too had a set of lives can results but I had to redo them. I know it's horrible, however, silver lining, about 3 sub jobs pays for the application process. Hope this helps.

But for the live scan part, how did you know that you had to redo everything? Since my livescan is never been submitted to anywhere, and I still have two copies of receipt. Thank you so much!
@@srsrsr6966 my understanding is that once you do a livescan there is a code that needs to submitted on the application.

Your passing over section 5 is not helpful. I don't know what "professional growth activities" are, much less have a supervisor for them.

5.CHILD DEVELOPMENT PERMIT RENEWAL: SELF-VERIFICATION: This section should be completed only by applicants who hold a Child Development Permit(other than the Associate Teacher Permit) and seek to renew the permit. You may either complete the self-verification in Section 5 on Form 41-4 or submit Form CL-826, the Professional Growth Plan and Record along with your application. If you choose to self-verify completion of your professional growth activities, you may be subject to an audit. If the audit determines that you did not complete the professional growth requirements, your credential will not be renewed and you may be subject to adverse action on other credentials you currently hold. You must retain your Professional Growth Plan and Record Form for one year following the submission of your application"
