Top notch review. I have the 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring with the 2.5 L non-turbo engine and I love it! It's a comfortable, premium feeling vehicle, and gets excellent fuel economy -- have gotten 40 MPG on the highway on some trips.
@@FungaiVictorTsanguprofile How are you maanging to get 5.7l/100km. I am getting 8-9L/100km at speed of 100 - 120 kmph respectively. Am I doing something wrong?
@@AbhiM564 The big trick is on acceleration, do not press it too hard. Ensure that when you reduce speed, rather do a slow and gradual acceleration instead. I like how they put the seat position selection button on the side of seat. Rather than like most cars, by the window buttons. This leaves room by the window buttons for more used or important buttons.
in my opinion the CX-5 is like a good friend. It‘s not a real beauty, it looks ok, but it‘s always reliable and ready when you need it. I know what I‘m talking about, because we travelled with the former model KE several times through Europe. It just worked like a good partner. Top.
I've never really loved the looks, but they do drive excellent, and dollar for dollar value I think they are hard to beat, and of course I am admittedly biased towards Japanese vehicles. They are a little tight in the cabin, but I am larger than the average person so that may not apply to everyone. Great review, love the unbiased information. Everyone better watch the Genesis, I'm seeing them on the road, if they are anywhere near as good as they look, everybody better up their game.
My suggestion for the next Mazda commercial... have a different Mazda owner go into the garage where the CX-5 is, and he/she says,"Sweet!" before getting into it. This is something I've done many times since last year, when I bought my 2021 CX-5 CE Turbo w/ AWD.
The mayor problem with the Cx5. Turbo is the transmission, it’s just can’t keep up with the engine you can feel the lag the gap cause by the outdated transmission
@@denziiey You mean, like the 8-speed automatics thrived for Toyota when a million 8-speed automatics failed recently, which caused a class action lawsuit? I'd rather keep the 6-speed automatic.
I'd rather keep an "outdated" 6-speed transmission that is reliable and durable, than the 8-speed automatic that Toyota puts out, where a million failed recently. The 6-speed auto does fine in my CX-5 Turbo.
@@SokemRokemRobot I've been driving the CX-5 since 2018. I currently have a 2021 Turbo and let me tell you the 6 speed is very clumsy and inefficient. This vehicle has the worst gas mileage I've ever seen on a 4 cylinder engine. The gear ratios are tweaked for efficiency however that means if you try to accelerate after slowing down it jumps through the lower gears and makes a mess. I often have to manually take over to get a better balance. So although Toyota had their issues you can't write off an 8 speed based off that. many others have higher gear transmissions. To put things into perspective the CX-5 has an excellent engine with an outdated transmission which makes it less competitive gas mileage wise. (does well on the highway though I'll give it that but city mileage is a joke)

CX-50 drives handles and rides pretty much identical to the CX-5 and size wise they are also about the same
it's about the semiconductor shortage. the chips for wireless CP/AA are on backorder and they are considered low priority by car manufacturers. it'll make a comeback. Audi and others have the same issue. what i am curious about is whether or not we will be able to retrofit and how easy that is if we can. i am in the market for a CX-5.
@@SokemRokemRobot So turbo is faster? Seems there's not so many reviews on the diesel 2.2. why would that be when they're similar in price and diesel is known for good economy?
No cons? How much did they pay you? No, seriously, I'd like to ask you a question. Blind spot tech aside, how is visibility over your left and right shoulders when changing lanes and backing up the vehicle? Thanks!
With the rear parking sensors, and the rear camera, backing up is pretty safe. Since there is only my wife and me, I'm able to have the rear seat down, which also gives me a better view. On the side mirrors, there's a light sensor that'll turn on, if there's a vehicle driving along side of me.
Comment: at higher speed, you will hear the noise of the wind. Definitely not an issue if driving for a short distance but an issue if driving longer...
It might be a straight six engine. I don't know if any of it is true. If it does have RWD as an option, I hope it comes with a limited slip differential. With that, might not even need AWD.

Mazda cx5 for 2022 does not have wireless Apple CarPlay. You have to plug your lightning cable to car USB causing wear to your plug on your phone. Ever time you get into your car you have to plug in. So much for the advantage of having wireless charging. You still have to plug in. 2021 had wireless CarPlay but they had problems do they removed it in 2022. Instead of fixing the problem they went backwards and removed. Come on Mazda get with technology. This is disappointing. Please come up with a fix and do an update to the 2022’s so there is wireless CarPlay.
If it was me, I would wait, especially since the CX-5 will still be around more than likely. If you really can't wait though, I don't think you can go wrong with the CX-5. I really don't think the powertrain will be changing much if any on the CX-50.
@@MeynMotorGroup I think it would get a torsion beam since it is built on the same platform as the CX-30. Also, prices have been released and it is more expensive than the CX-5. In my opinion, the only interesting thing about the CX-50 would be the hybrid version, but that release date hasn't been announced.
