    Hi Zabrena! I’ve been following you for a few years, and wanted to add a tip, after viewing these today. I’m 71 and my lashes have pretty much disappeared. Though they are still long, they are flimsy, gray, and don’t hold mascara like before. I found that using the dental brushes (mostly for people with braces or gaps in their teeth) works really well. They come in different sizes, and are easier to use than the large wands that come in most mascaras. They can get very close to the lash line, and pick up those smaller lashes. I get them where dental floss is sold in grocery stores and drug stores. I just rub them along the mascara wand, and apply to my lashes. I highly recommend them for women with sparse lashes. Thank you for all you do!

      Maybe I'll tell Mum. She's won't stop buying mascaras and refusing to use them "they don't make mascaras like they used to". As a mascara wearer of 30 years myself, they're waaaaaay better now. She can't accept she's old and has no lashes (they're a few mms at best). Maybe I'll buy one of those retro mascara cakes and brushes from Bésame and go "there you go, there's ye olden days for you" lol.

    I have a tip: I use the used laundry dryer sheet (Bounce) to wipe off my hand mirror and it works like a dream to remove smudges instantly since the residue on the dryer sheet has a silicon effect and polishes/removes smudge from the mirror surface and it does it more quickly than using Windex with a kleenex or paper towel.

    Used makeup since I was 15. Years ago I read about using a light layer of foundation or powder on my lips. Tried it, but the lipstick would peel off in bits. This method seemed to dry out my lips no matter how emollient my lipstick was.
    My best tip for bleeding lipline is something I submitted before. Apply a thin layer of non oily primer (I use Benefit POREfessional Face Primer) around your lips where the lines are. Press a very small amount of powder on top of the primer - not on your lips. Dust off the excess. I'm older so I've got the lines and this method has never failed me. Of course if you eat or drink anything oily, all bets are off.

    • @taranullius9221

      I can't do powder or foundation on my lips they get gummy and gross. I saw Painted By Spencer line a model's outer lip w/Touche Eclat concealer but I feel like that's not got the oomph. Yours just might! I tried an invisible lip liner but they're too hard/thin to get a good barrier.

    ❤Greetings my adorable Zabrena! 🧸💕
    ✨Try this, it’s simple & will make a lot of difference:
    If you got an empty transparent mascara tube, try washing and drying it then fill it with any hair oil you currently prefer (I personally love the Dabur Amla Olive & Almond oil one) and after you put your foundation just brush your eyebrows with that mascara then blot any excess with any tissue, then begin to fill in your brows as normal, the oil will remove any foundation that got on the brows accidentally and will give your brow hairs an awesome shine and hydration and won’t affect the application of any product you add afterwards, as well as the oil will darken a bit the brow hairs and will make them appear fuller! ❤
    I been doing that for years (bec any foundation that accidentally reaches my brows, makes them really dull) and my brows became really healthy and full as the oil nourish the hairs and it’s amazing to use this mascara before bed as well but always blot the excess as the wand always has a lot and it will drip if you didn’t blot! 💕

      I will try that tip too. I have a very watery left eye and I've been placing a tiny amount of Aquaphor (it's like Vaseline but isn't the same-not greasy) inside my eye at the outer corner to relieve the excess water, but my makeup smears on the lower eye lid, so I will once again try using it in my inner corner as you suggest (I tried that before and it didn't work), but I will give it another shot.

    About the Vaseline trick. It's genious bc it's mimicking what our eyes do naturally. We have these meimobian(?) glands at the roots of our lashes that secret meibum (eye sebum)... The point of meibum is to lubricate the eye so the tears wouldn't just evaporate, it also stops the tears from spilling over ❤ so that's what she does basically with Vaseline.

    Years ago, on a now defunct subchannel, a program called Mirror Mirror had an occasional makeup artist giving tips. One was making eyeliner out of powder shadow mixed with eye primer that dries clear. Another option is of course Duraline but that's become pricey. I was lucky to buy mine through Macy's for $11. Whatever you use, be sure both the makeup and the mixing medium are eye safe.

    TIP 1 - Blending sponges - I never liked them after I had just wet them, so I’d use them dry but didn’t love it either. One day I washed my sponge before going to bed and so when I woke up to do my makeup, it was still SLIGHTLY damp (damp enough to still be bigger than when it’s dry and still soft but just barely wet). I LOVED it! So after that I started washing my sponge every night before bed and then when I wake up in the morning it’s ready to go for me!!!
    TIP 2 - To help keep lashes curled and not stick to your lash curler, apply some powder to the lash curler then curl your lashes and then apply the mascara. Then apply some more powder onto the lash curler and curl your lashes again - this helps set the mascara in place AND keeps the lashes from sticking onto the curler and possibly getting pulled out! It also works if you realize you need to curl your lashes after applying mascara and don’t want your lashes sticking to the curler. Apply some powder to the curler then curl them! It made such a huge difference for me! Now my lashes curl easy and actually stay in place after curling them and stay that way for a lot longer than they used to!

    • @jeanams07
      @jeanams07 8 месяцев назад

      For the damp sponge, what I do is squeeze it out in a small clean towel after I wet it. That gets rid of the excess water, without having to wait for it to dry out a bit. It's also recommended you use warm water instead of cool as it will help the product blend into the skin better.

    • @onewhisper22005
      @onewhisper22005 8 месяцев назад

      @@jeanams07 I use warm water too! I’ve also used a towel and I’ll do it if I didn’t have time to wash my sponge the night before. But when using a towel, it still doesn’t have the same texture as it does when I wash it the night before and use it in the morning. It made a huge difference for me when washing it the night before and having it just barely damp in the morning vs wetting it in the morning and squeezing it in a towel so I just prefer doing it that way myself

    6:25 the butt end of your sponge 😂😂😂 every time I hear that I can't stop thinking about the buttocks that makeup sponges now have. I remember a tip from Aly Art's channel to make your own contour, when you need a cooler color or a shade you cannot get, pick a pencil eyeliner and "draw" with in on the back of your hand, then add a little bit of foundation or moisturizer and you have a customized cream contour in the exact shade you want. This also works for blush with a lipliner and even a lipstick ✨👌

    Inglot sell an "adaptive liquid mixing medium" which is especially good for turning eyeshadow into eyeliners. I bought mine as a set with their black gel eyeliner (it also stops the gel eyeliner from drying out!) You can just add a drop straight into the eyeshadow pan and it turns into liquid temporarily before it dries again! I guess you could use this idea to make a lio liner as well.

    Hi Zabrina and ladies, when you spoke of mixing the lipstick you’re not wild about with another or other colors I can attest to that. Plus the lipstick ads we see are more often than not a mixture of shades/liners as well. Which is easier for the brand/photographer/makeup artist to adjust as opposed to getting a different model with a certain undertone skin coloring. And fun fact it’s what Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist did to achieve the perfect red lip for her. So don’t get sad/mad/or disappointed, get creative and come up with the perfect shade for you. It usually takes 2 lipsticks topped with gloss or your favorite lip liner and blotting the lipstick color on your lips. It’s saved me a ton of money besides being fun. Great video and as always thank you!💄💋

I have experimented with doing a thin layer of a simikae shade of matte liquid lipstick before adding shadow, and it can be pretty good, however, a word of caution, not every lipstick is eye safe, and do not use it if it has already been used on your lips.

Possibly out of laziness I discovered that hack 🙈 I prefer applying foundation with a brush for more courage but afterwards I go over it with a dry elf face sponge, it soaks up the extra foundation & if there’s streaks it gets rid of them too but oddly it has the opposite effect with concealer I get more coverage with a dry sponge (the elf sponge for undereyes) & it blends better. The hourglass vanish concealer is a Godsend 🙌 . ZERO creasing & full coverage but looks like skin love it 💜💜💜

    These were very good. Zabrena, would you be willing to make a video on applying theater makeup? I have fair skin and and I’m told by other actresses that my makeup doesn’t show up well in the lights. Getting the shading and contouring is an art as well. There must be some tips so that I don’t have to cake the makeup on my skin.

    Hydration is a must for oily skin. Humectant serums (HA, glycerin, peptides) then a more occlusive moisturiser/SPF than I used to. You need a barrier to lock in hydration. Thicker moisturiser is fine if you know what the ingredients do. No oils, no comedogens and no fragrance. Works for me. Thanks YT dermatologists. Regular use of BHA to help pores too.

    Rimmel makes a clear lip liner. Outline with it just outside your lip line; it will stop your lipstick from bleeding. (Sally Hansen made a great pen for this years ago, but this is similar). (This can be better than the powder usage tip, where for older women we do not want any extra powder on our faces & NOT in the vertical skin line area above the upper lip!!). The Rimmel tool may work as well, instead of using Vaseline & putting a dot near the inner corner of the eye, to stop eyes watering; I will try it & see. I hv allergies, so that's a good tip for me!! To keep lipstick on, or the illusion of same, thru a lunch or dinner, first put on a much darker shade of, say, a Revlon lipstick. Leave on for a few mins., then blot that off fairly well, but don't wipe it off completely. Then put on your regular shade, or gloss or both. Eat. When you leave you will still hv some of the (much lighter by then) darker lipstick leftover pigment on your lips. So you don't hv to, right away, make a washroom trip to reapply your lipstick, & great if you're rushing to get back to work! 😸🤡💋❤️

    I wondered if anyone had a tip for wearing matte lipstick? I love the look but it always ends up settling into the lines of my lips. Can anyone recommend a good drugstore lipstick primer, or any hacks that would help do the trick!?🙏🏼

    As we age we get dry eyes - inside health take omegas 3 oils, outside we can use eye drops. Drinking water and hydrating from inside with omega oils is long term best . We just get drier as we age! 😂 everywhere ! Lol

    I love all of these tips. The product that I have discovered that has made a huge difference to my skin care routine is The Ordinary Amino Acid serum. I have mature skin, and I use this right after washing my face. Since hyaluronic acid is in almost every product I use, I switched to this serum and stopped using a hyaluronic acid serum..... and it was like magic!! The serum is very water like, that absorbs quickly and isn't as sticky. It also plays well with any other active ingredient. I also love the Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum. It is better than the one from The Ordinary, much more skin friendly!! Thanks Zabrena for sharing all these wonderful tips!!
    PS I have VERY small eyes and short lashes. I am currently using the Shu Uemura curler and it pinches my eyes so badly! Any suggestions anyone?

      I would rub some vaseline on the curler very very lightly where you feel it pinching or on the whole area of the curler your using.

      I have used the Shisedo eyelash curler for the last 28 yrs, way before social media, and it doesn’t pinch my small Asian eyes. Now I see influencers raving about it, it’s truly the best. Mine has lasted 28 yrs with the blow dryer heating it up constantly, you just buy the replacement rubber inserts from the Shisedo makeup counter.

    If you struggle with watery eyes, the problem may be dry eyes. Counter intuitive, I know. I use some eye drops before my shower and don’t struggle with watery eyes anymore, either while applying make up or throughout the day. I also put drops in before bed.

    • @Mrstriplejranch

      Me, too. Lumify, though not marketed for dry eye, actually works better for me than typical OTC dry eye drops. The other thing I started doing is applying Cerave ointment (it’s like Vaseline), all around my eyes as my final nighttime skin routine, and since I started doing that, they water a lot less than usual. I think the ointment seeps into my eyes as I sleep and it just helps replace the natural oils I don’t make anymore. Bonus is that the skin around my eyes looks younger, too!

    Regarding the Vaseline on the corner of the eye, it will warm up from the skin and get inside the eye, keeping it blurry and teary for 2 days. 😢

    The one using Vaseline at the tear ducts is dangerous because it will eventually cause the tear ducts to become clogged. This became a common occurrence when in the late 80s, women were copying the technique shared by Brooke Shields to remove eye makeup. Some had it so bad that they required a surgical procedure to get the Vaseline congestion of the tear ducts removed.

    • @mymai5859
      @mymai5859 9 месяцев назад

      You put a tiny dot of vaseline on the inner eye, just in the curve above & below where the eye begins. You don't stick it on your tear duct in your waterline. The eye may still water but it's not going to transfer to your eye make-up
