    I'm building my first PC right now, and I have to admit when I opened the box to my power supply I was pretty terrified by the cables and the prospect of installing them incorrectly. This video and it's clear presentation has made me much more confident to tackle this step. Thanks, EVGA!

      Same here man. This was the first thing i was worried about. I remember when i was watching shorts and i came across a video of 1 person trying to start up his pc and it was giving out smoke and the person realized he fried the whole computer since he misconnected one of the ports in his PSU so thats what im trying to avoid since this pc im about to build is quite expensive.

    Most people will wonder on making the fan side up or down, and here's the best answer-
    If your computer will be on carpet(with the case having short and stubby legs), it's much better to have the fan up. If you have the computer on a desk with taller legs, go for the fan side down.

      I always thought of it as a circuit, so an open circuit wouldn’t transmit power (hence off) where a closed (I.e. grounded) circuit will transmit power

But I guess he didn’t either because he put the cpu in one of the vga ports on the actual power supply and dented it... so here’s to hoping I can get it back together and it’s not severely damaged 🤞🏻

    Hey guys! I just bought a EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G+, 80 Plus Gold 650W, Fully Modular, PS from you and was glad to hear the ability of testing prior to hooking up. This will be the first time I have built my own PC and was a bit weary about doing so and turning my system on not knowing if my PS may be faulty, so it is good to know I can test it before installation. I was also thinking of hooking everything up outside of the case first to test everything as well, but a bit worried as I'm not sure how it will affect the board or parts soon after turning the PS off (possible static electricity increase when touching the board maybe?). I will have a anti-static mat , anti-static wrist band, as well as fully anti-static gloves to install everything, but you have any pointers on what to be careful of when doing it this way? Thanks again for this video, it helps ease my mind on the matter.

    Thanks for the info. The user manual was completely useless for the 850. Mind you, I'm an IT gal, so I can normally discern things on my own. First thing that threw me was the mention of auto eco. It stated that IF it was turned off... Uh, where do you turn it off or on? No diagram indicating where it was located. So I typed EVGA 850 into Google and discovered that with this model, the function was always off. So why mention it if I can't access the feature. Did they throw in "user manual" just for the heck of it?
    So I found your site and viola. Clear cut, step-by-step instructions that anyone could follow.

    Excellent tutorial great job except the connection to the graphic card..
    8 pin direct to 8 pin 6 pin direct to 6 pin for full power !!!
    Please note :
    Connecting 1 8 pin split to a 6 & 8 pin may cause lack of power to the Graphic card on full power draw while gaming and cause lag flicker and choppy and stutter during game play on high end cards that require huge Watts of power, so do a full direct connection to the video card just in case unless it's a low wattage graphic card and not necessary and his tutorial on a power split is ok.
    That's my opinion... because I had this issue with 2 high end graphic cards doing this ...
    Once I put a high end power supply's direct pin to pin connection from the power supply the issue was resolved.

    • @iSteelRazorBladeGAMING
      @iSteelRazorBladeGAMING 7 лет назад

      ***** I'd only do it if you really need the extra power. Corsair are good, but EVGA are better value and apparently higher quality cables. So it's all down to what you need.

    • @iSteelRazorBladeGAMING
      @iSteelRazorBladeGAMING 7 лет назад

      ***** I don't think you should need to change the temperatures. And about the cables, the correct wires should be supplied with the PSU but if you have other ones that came with the fans and stuff then use them.

      Monkey D Luffy2 Usually not, the pinout on the psu might be different, so you might end up connecting + to - or something horrible. Usually they also just don't fit. If you want to, you can check pinouts on both psus and make sure that they are identical, in which case you can use both sets of cables with both psus.

    Don't suppose you do a USB Psu for the newer Psu's. I've installed Supernova Software to monitor the psu fan, but it isn't seeing the connection and I don't know what cable it uses or where it connects, using a G/byte AB350 gaming 3 mobo.

      The idea of the PSU tester, if I recall properly, is a piece of protective plastic to prevent electric surge or getting electrocuted when testing the PSU turned ON. Therefore, there might be no incompatibility issue, unless if you have unmatchable pins. I might be wrong though, so take it with a grain of salt. ^^"

    Thanks for the vid! I didn’t know you could mount the psu both ways so I’ll be looking for the grill/filter in my new case.
    On a side note, are there any benefits besides noise reduction for turning eco mode on? Are there any downsides to using eco mode?

    I'm trying to find information on the pcie/vga ports individual power output. If I'm running dual graphics cards, does vga1, 2, 3 run off the same rail? I can't seem to find any specific information.
    Can I have card 1 in vga1 and card 2 in vga2 or should I skip to vga4 in order to be on a separate rail, does that matter?

    Does your Ac input Amps have a impact on your PSU turning on i have a
    evga 500W 80 plus. That won't turn also i had a 600w that did not turn
    on so i exchanged it for a 500w power supply. Would a power strip help
    with the problem?

    I'm not able to find a plug for my graphics card. The only 8 hole I've got is the one I plugged in to at 4:10. What am I missing?
