I’m convinced his brother died on the trip to Eclipse Lake. During the journal entry, you can see how two of the same shoe prints went in (along with two other people) but only Philips came out.
I still sort of think Belos is Philip Wittebane himself since Belos and the statue of Philip have the same nose, facial structure, and probably the same hair if it’s styled correctly. They even sound similar to me.
Philips brother appears to have the same nose (and hair? Sorta?) as Hunter. There’s a chance Hunter is a grimwalker of Philips brother, just much younger.
OR adding on to this, Belos is Phillips Wittebanes brother, as he was PRESUMED dead by Phillip, but was secretly alive and gained a hatred for his brother, for "abandoning" him.

I have another Theory, Belos is a clone of Philips brother who died in the cave trying to find titans blood, and after that he learned that his brother died a couple years later while the other Witterbane made another grimwalker before dying of himself, and kept doing it until he started getting so corrupted he needed magic to stay alive

Even irl there are people who get pointy ears this way, and if belos is phillip (or his bro or whatever) he very well couldve done something like that to blend in
There's a chance that Camelia will get those videos that Luz was "sending her" when she officially became trapped on the Boiling Isle at some point and get a full understanding of Luz's feelings more than the assumption that she got from her daughter. Not to mention that if everything settles down a bit there is a chance Camelia will be ok with Luz visiting the Boiling Isle; the promise they made didn't appear to restict that.
I can't even make theories any more this came so far from left field, so different from any theory I mean NO ONE said "Creepy Luz is a basalis and super cute and kind and all that other stuff" I just can't predict till the emotion calms down.
I remember someone saying they were just helping with the whole no portal situation.
And yet, it really shouldn't have come as a surprise to any of us. The basilisk in season 1 is literally the only being we have seen, that is able to completely transform its body to perfectly immitate a humanoid. Making it the only logical candidate to be "creepy Luz". It's so obvious, that someone ought to have thought of it, but we didn't, because Dana and the crew did a great job of making the basilisk seem like a one-off monster, that could safely be forgotten. Yet, when it is now brought up again, it makes perfect sense, both with regards to the Luz imposter and the overarching plot of Belos bringing them back from extinction to harness their ability to eat magic.
That's some good quality writing right there.

Its a part of grom that broke off, its a grim walker, its made of wood, its a clone made by the door, its Eda or Gus's illusion, it was made by the head of the resistance, it was made by the Emperor. Changling was brought up but the concept refers to some thing more dangerous. I was waiting for Creepy Luz to melt away like the Emperor does when he gets sick or to fade away like one of Gus's illusions after the door closes. I had considered a few possible outcomes for Creepy Luz my self 1. That Luz would become her big sister, 2 that she would replace Luz and break up with Amity 3. that she and Luz would never meet up and she would die before meeting Luz 4. She would get in legal trouble and Luz would take the fall 5. she would be so perfect her mom would think real Luz was evil. but I was certain that the door had powers to clone people and that Luz and Phillip had both been cloned by the door.
@@sasamichan most of those theories (some of which I bought into myself) have huge holes in them or rely on concepts and abilities we haven't seen in the show. That's why I said, that the basilisk should have come to mind, because we actually saw it transform itself.
To me, there was really only one explanation for "creepy Luz" that would have made just as much sense as what we got, but it is one that would never happen, because this is a Disney show: It would make complete sense for "creepy Luz" to simply be... Luz herself. She actually went to camp and the Luz we follow is just the last remains of her creativity living it out in a fantasy land in her own mind.

Okay, I've got a theory. A somewhat stretching theory, but one nonetheless.
What we know:
-2 brothers
-Belos feeds off Palismen
-Belos recovers via palismen
-Wittebane records his findings in his journal.
-Belos has no tracible history beyond 50 years
-Belos lost family to wild magic
Theory:
I believe that one of the two brothers mentioned in this episode is Phillip (as most everyone can agree with) and this other brother, we've already seen. So they would be over 400 years old but I think one is still alive.
Emperor Belos was shown to, when having what looked to be a heart attack, used a palisman to relieve the pain. We also saw what ever that goop-like-thing was kept down by palisman energy. I think the energy of a palisman gives some kind of everlasting life.
While Wittebane was learning and recording things to find a way back, the brother accepted that they were forced to stay and would die on the boiling isles. This led, like Lilith, to him finding a curse to achieve their goals. For the brother, immortality. But like all things with immortality, sacrifices have to be made. The lack of knowledge this brother had made him unaware of such things and as such, lost the only brother he had. He gained immortality, but in return lost the only family he had left.
Grieving the loss of his brother, he grew to despise magic and all it stood for. A wild power that does nothing but destroy. He would go on to live a reclusive life forging his own way through the terrors of magic and creating an alternative for himself. But this wouldn't last long as the curse would act up like we've seen and thus needs palismen and their magic to continue surviving. Knowing this, he decided to end his hermit life and reveal himself to the demon realm, going by the name... Belos.
Belos' political power grew among the wild witches as he so dubbed and soon he made his way to the top by the claimed Titan's will. Through the will of the Titan, Belos moved to remove anything that would could lead to something like losing his brother again. However, upon this purge, he found two things. The first, the Grimwalkers, a way to get his brother back. The second, a way back home, the day of Unity.
I know this is outlandish, but, it's what I think will happen.
Another damning piece of evidence that he is connected is that the Illustration that showed the two brothers (if you look carefully)
The closer brother to the witch has a Cardinal on his shoulder
Well, Belos is Phillip. That changes a lot
Honestly, I’m now thinking maybe Philip’s brother was caught in that Fools Blood incident but was able to survive without his brother knowing
Also a fun fact to add on to your mention of Roger Craig Smith: He voices Deidara in the English dub of Naruto Shippuden, Shinji Hirako in the English dub of Bleach and several characters from Regular Show, namely the goat intern Thomas and Hi-Five Ghost!

WELP, HIATUS HATH COME. I don't know about ya'll, but Dana has truly delivered in a story-driven series, and I'm so invested. I'm excited to see what craziness will go down when it comes back. My greatest hope is that when they come back from hiatus, it'll be a Hunter/Luz adventure, like Hunting Palisman. Maybe one where Hunter goes undercover at Hexside?

Hunter going undercover at Hexside? That sounds like it would be such a fun episode. I wonder if he’d be going undercover to investigate why Principal Bump was letting students study multiple magic tracks. We’d get to see him interact with Willow, Gus, Boscha, and other characters that haven’t had much focus this season, and we’d get our first Hexside episode since Wing It Like Witches. I used to feel like episodes set at Hexside were the least interesting type in TOH, but now I miss having some. There were just too many.

After rewatching the episode, I wonder if Luz had another sibling? Since there is a double bunk bed in Luz's room, but the photo only showed Luz and her parents.
I saw that but its too important (having a brother), it would have been more foreshadow before, also is kind of common having an extra bed in case of a visit (sleep over or family), their house seems “small” so it wouldnt have an extra room
I had a bunk bed in mom's house for years.
It was normally for whenever me and/or my sister would visit or a Friend of mine slept over.
We lived with our dad but my uncle bought a bunk bed so we have somewhere to slept whenever we slept over.
It wasn't normally just me or just my sister though over there.

5:35 the journal did mention (maybe) the brother. When witabane went into the mine his companions didn’t make it out. Perhaps he finished the portal but decides to stay and punish the magic and it’s users as a form of revenge for his loss

Hey, not sure if anyone is ever gonna read this, but I think the reason why the portal didn´t work that well is that it didn´t have coordinates to where it should open.
The Portal that Eda had was "programmed" to open at a very specific location, which is the old Abandonded house.
But the Portal the gang tried to open didn´t have any coordinates to go off of so it led to Luz being between dimensions.
How to "program" the Portal to go to the same location is another question.
Maybe a Key is the key to solve that problem.
But that´s just what I think. Hope this is helpful.

The brother with the cardinal is the man Hunter is a clone of. Maybe that Cardinal palisman belonged to the brother at first and then was tossed away. That’s why the Cardinal went after Hunter because he looks just like his original owner because he is a clone of him. And why he calls Belos his uncle, his dad is really Belos’ brother, and can explain why they both can’t do magic. Maybe Belos’ brother was the one who made the portal and why Belos doesn’t know too much about it. The only thing that doesn’t make sense with this theory tho is that they have pointed ears, who knows maybe there’s a spell that can change appearances
One thing I actually caught on the one second frame of the statues of the two brother which are presumably Belos and Philip, is that the younger lookin brother ( the one on the right) is HOLDING A SCROLL.

Something I noticed watching this episode is that in the "space" she can't use magic because there's no Titan / Titan's blood. So on the day of unity, if it actually happens, does that mean she'll be able to use magic on Earth since it's going to be like a merger of two worlds.

Does any one else think that Camilla and eda would make the perfect parents for luz and v Camilla rational and grounded while eda is the fun and creative one helping them keep there imagination and dreams
Imagine if we get a crossover involving the pines family, in a way that Dipper and Mabel who decide to look for Eda after learning about her mysterious disappearance from their uncle
this episode did not go the way I expected I was hoping Luz would open the portal properly and Eda and King and Amity and Gus and Willow even hooty go with her to meet her mother and her mother is a shock to see Luz and says in a stunned tone How Can You Be Here When You Are Already Here as she points to Luz double ganger and Luz and her friends are all shocked then the Basliks exposes herself and explains everything and Luz is mad at her mother not just for sending her away to that summer camp but also for not knowing she had been replaced which drives a wedge between Luz and her mother.

Well, I guess we’re in hiatus now, which kind of sucks because I’ll miss The Owl House so much! It’s the series that, more than any other, makes me feel like I’m part of a community with shared interests- like I’m wanted. Even in some crappy periods of my life, that hasn’t changed. Thanks to Dana and the crew for continuing to craft a masterpiece.
6:06 I was just praying that belos was Philip's twisted brother. I was devistated to learn the truth that belos and Philip Wittibane we're 1 in the same.
What we know now makes her mother's reaction so much more heart breaking.
Most people are now in the Philip and Bellows are brothers camp. If that comes to pass I think Hunter will be Philip and Bellows cloned him because of some weird fallout. It was likely some curse that ended up taking Philip's life and Bellows was cursed during this mess. A lot of the crew have said that he was a very complex character so I don't expect something simple with those 2. Philip was likely pulled in first and learned to not try and control Wild Magic and once his brother and him got back together via the door his brother likely wanted to try and control the Wild Magic and ended up cursed and Philip would have lost his life during that. Bellows seems to regret what happened and I feel like it's likely because one warning being ignored is what got all of this going in the first place. This would make Hunter a clone because of this deep need to get his brother back and say sorry. Plus if he is driven by the loss of his brother this doubling down on linking the worlds as a control tool is a man on the bring of madness just making a so called safer world to rule all in the name of his brother to do what Philip could not do and that is 100% control Wild Magic and more or less tame it for good.
Well technically if record history was made by the end of the savage is a problem makes sense if the savages were that chai ridden history may have been more obscured

Something interesting about the inbetween dimension is that the humal realm cubes come from one of the lakes and the demon realm ones from the other

The cardinal is in the coffee Logo 2. It's posible the one who get loss and made the portal was Belos's brother and the witch tempted them a friend of him, for the way Belos talk of magic to Hunter, look like some accident or incident cause the demise(and maybe the scar on the Palisman) of his brother and the loss of the portal, that end buried until Eda find it. Belos couldn't be the one that write the dairy, because he know how repairs the portal but not how to made a new one. And apparently don't know of the existence of the dairy, because simply could made a new portal with the information on it, Luz confirmed aside of titan Blood, all the materials are really easy to find.
It was an interesting twist, but it did come out of left field. The part I hated though was that they acted like Luz ran away from home. She had billed herself as having gone off to camp, and just went to the Boiling Isles instead. The runaway thing and then leaving her mother with that feeling was stupid.
I really hope Luz is able to fix things with her mom and Camilla is able to see what Luz has on the boiling isles a family with eda and king best friends in willow and Gus and especially her girlfriend amity

He said that the two boys were never seen again, if that is true they either came back in a disguise or Phillip never figured out how to get back to the human realm. There is also the possibility that there are other realms, perhaps Phillip and his brother just went to a new realm, stayed there, and lived happily ever after. Oh and one last thing, if Eda was able to cast spells in the human realm we know that magic CAN in fact work there.
Magic can work, but need to be recharged in the demon realm.

I wanna add things to your data. To start, has anyone noticed that Jacob used a fan to get the scent of magic to Vee? Then, the bird that is with hunter is adopted. In the episode from season one when Luz broke hootsafter (can't recall the name of the staff) they came across a place in the forest where abandoned palisman go. Fast forward to season two, Eda persuades the guardian to start an adoption for the young witches. The bird was one of them. It is possible the brother made that palisman and it was among the abandoned palismans.

Well there is still one thing that may be a streach but... I think Luz is more RELATED to everything.
First of all we KNOW that portal works, so why it was still on Boling Isles? What was that scar on the door?
Why not reveal Luz father face? Why Camile is single mother? And it's clear Luz wierdness came from her father side.
I just say 400 years is alot. So it's not hard to belive that Phil or his brother had children that STAYED in this town.
Specally when we see both of them and one hold a page with something like a Glyph (similliar to Luz) and other has basicly Hunters Palisman.

So what if during the process of making the portal Philip's brother was trapped in the "mirror realm" that Luz was in?
An alternative version of this course be when the witch brought them to the demon realm maybe the brother was trapped in the mirror realm. This could have happened on accident due to the fact that the portal that they used was broken in someway. During the time that the two brothers were alive the witch burnings could have still been happening. The townsfolk most likely didn't like the witch except for the brothers. The witches portal might have been broken by the townsfolk. The story about how the brothers were "tricked into going to the demon realm" might not be true. Instead the brothers wanted to go to the demon realm. This would explain some of the reason behind why no one knows about Philip's brother in the demon realm. Also since Philip's journal was super old maybe the parts mentioning Philps brother in the beginning of the journal were destroyed before the mouse ate them.

I think that the brothers are not the same as journal dude, mainly cuz journal dude got yeeted into the demon dimension via magic puddles. I think the two brothers got lured in by whomever own the portal after journal dude, but before Eda.
Theory time! Alright, so we now know that Phillip has a brother right? Well in the picture we see of them, at 5:16 if you want to check it out for yourself, Phillip's brother had a bird on his shoulder, what if that bird was a palisman? And what if that palisman was Rascal? Maybe something went wrong when Phillip's brother was practicing with Rascal and that killed him and gave Rascal his scar? Also, what if Hunter is a clone of Phillip's brother? That could make him Phillip's brother's "son" and if Belos is truly Phillip himself, then that would make him Hunter's uncle. Also if Hunter really is a Grimwalker based off of Phillip's brother, and Rascal is truly Phillip's brother's old palisman then that would explain why he liked Hunter so much so quickly, because he realized that Hunter was essentially just a different version of Phillip's brother.
I wonder if they ment for V for Vendetta reference with her taking the name Vee from the room she was imprisoned in.

It may not even be divorce, Luz's dad may have just walked out on the family. Would certainly explain why Luz NEVER talks about him and why Camilla is so terrified about Luz choosing to stay away from her. Hopefully this episode puts an end to any Camilla hate, its clear that Luz gets her endless amounts of empathy and compassion from her.

What if the basilisk attack on all the school's was no coincidence. What if she had a motive to get revenge on the emperors coven for what they did to her kind. Yeah she could've been just an evil power hungry monster, or maybe she just went about it all wrong by taking all the magic from weaker witches before going up against the stronger ones.
I have a theory.
In the end of the show both worlds are gonna combine.
On the day of unity belos is probably gonna try to rule both dimensions but luz will stop him. But because of belos both dimensions now have a combined culture.
I used to hope that "Creepy" Luz would be doppelgänger created by either Belos or Eda, but this works better. Even if the whole "refugee from a magic realm Dr. Mengele lab" came out of let field
