Ace stuntman Dale Van Sickel plays the badman Sharkey in this movie. Actor/stuntman since the early 30s he had been stunt double for many actors including Tyrone Power, Robert Taylor, Dana Andrews & Clark Gable. Driving a car in a stunt for the Disney movie No Deposit, No Return in `76 the car skidded out of control & crashed resulting in Dale Van Sickel suffering brain damage from which he never recovered.
Jeff Clarke -- Interesting stuff. Also of interest, this movie was directed by Yakima Canutt -- a most accomplished stuntman himself. Some of Canutt's stunts are legendary. But, this is the only directing credit I've ever seen, not that it is the only one, just that I've never known before that he directed. A real cowboy and quite an accomplished horseman, he trained the horses to chariots and oversaw production of the race in Ben Hur. And speaking of doubling for Clark Gable, if not mistaken, he was doubling for Gable in the burning of Atlanta scenes in Gone With the Wind. No doubt Canutt and Van Sickel were good friends as well as co-workers in the Hollywood stunt profession. That Canutt trusted him with the very difficult stunts in this movie is high praise, indeed. Enjoyed very much. Thanks for sharing, Nevada Jane.
Yakima Canutt played in almost all of John Wayne's early westerns. He was the Indian who fell between the horses & stagecoach in the '39 STAGECOACH. The most dangerous stunt ever done for a long time. Him & John Wayne were good friends. Part native American from the state of Washington.
I love this movie Rocky Lane probably is a was a better cowboy in the movies and John Wayne and several others that everybody said for wonderful he just was a little ahead of his time if you'd have been just a little bit later you would outshine them all he had all the add-ons attitude and the charisma of a great actor and a wonderful horse
What Yak was known for was his long career as top Hollywood Stunt man and inventor of many of the stunts done safely, in particular the ones used in John Wayne movies early on. His two boys followed him and all did the Chariot Race with Charlton Heston in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. They taught Heston to drive the Chariot.
Hi Nevada, I've been trying to find more Allan "Rocky"Lane movies. Is this all that he made? Thanx for the uploads. I really luv black and white westerns.💝🔥Where can i go to find more of his movies?
@@davidcansler7025 I never knew that Hoppie had a sidekick 🐎... Even w/o the side kick,I Luv Audie Murphy..Randolph Scott..Errol Flynn..The Restless Gun is also a good Western series ..
I love this episode! Got more chuckles than from a straight-up comedy! @8:53, Rocky is using the 'hollywood-two-fisted-rein-grip' that most "cowboy actors" were taught. I've ridden horses since I was 20 (74 now) and pushed cattle down in S.Texas, rode on 150 mile trail rides, and I've never seen any horseman do that. Few used both hands on the reins, and even they didn't hold their hands up by the sternum.
How would a person who has never been here before know where Willow Creek Bridge is? Spaghetti western. I was born in '41, I remember Tom Mix, Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, Roy Rogers, sissy Gene Autry, Johnny Mack Brown, Gabby Hayes, Cisco Kid and even Al Jolson (who a black-face jazz singer not a cowboy) and others, but I never heard of Allen (Rocky) Lane.
They did have color back then, beginning from the early-mid 30s, and even earlier for the more basic processes. Black and white was really the only choice for modest budget films like this one. Also, color wouldn't have improved it one bit: it's not that kind of movie. This is all about the action; and there're different kinds of spectacles.
B&W movies ar so kool an mellow an safer for😎 ur eyes i hav no lust for color🤗 eg. Wen WWWest went color it didnt apeal to me that much.🤗 90% of my addiction is Black an white😛😋
Thank you for preserving these classics
Great western with stellar cast. Rocky Lane excellent as always. You'll enjoy it !

I noticed that the lady’s face was blacked out to hide the double for Miss Leslie in the chase scene.
Thank you for the information ❤
Another fun adventure. Thanks NJ !
Entertaining, fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Great little western, a fun watch
This guy was the lone ranger before the lone ranger.
Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
These hour long Republic pictures were all well done and made great double features at the theaters. Like to see all of them again. 😊
My favorite episode-so far
Nugget is awesome
Rocky is a star
Another great picture show!!!
Old Nugget certainly wasn't much help to Rocky... but he sticks to Nugget like a good friend does. Nothing like today!

🙃☕❤❤❤❤🤠
Good fast-paced programmer that isn't ham-strung by the low budget. Some fine shots/lines in there too!
Just what I needed this morning. A good old rockem, sockem, shooting movie. Where the good guys hat, doesn't come off in a fight!
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Old Western Movies though. 👍👌👏
An of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.

Good movie thank you
Directed by Yakima Canutt Who was John Wayne and John Ford movies
playing the BAD GUY. He did good here as a director.

That chariot race was in Ben Hur. Yak was the stunt coordinator for that film.
ROCKY LANE MEU ÍDOLO DE INFÂNCIA!!! IMAGEM EXCELENTE!!!
I liked his cordaroy-like dark shirt, wondered what color it was ?
I never knew OK had some beautiful mountains. I thought it was all prairie land.
All this filming is in California. Filming in the Midwest “so called states” weren’t true geography. Kansas was never portrayed as it is either.

The.man.with.the broken.leg. at.the.begining of the movie probably got paid a small wage.
Rocky Lane and Blackjack . Gene Autry and Champ. Roy Rogers. and Trigger.who else besides the Lone Ranger and Tonto had.a horse side kick ?.
How about Hopalog Cassidy and his horse Topper

At around 3207 is that a photo of George "Gabby" Hayes?
I wonder why Rocky Lane was always the first one getting knocked down
I once had a dog named Pinky Jane ,Best Dod Ever 😄
Our hero got punched so many times and not a mark on his face all his teeth in tact, lol what a guy. Tongue firmly in cheek.😂😂🤣🤣
Yeah, before concussions were invented!
And his hat rarely falls off. Great punching scenes.

That is one handsome cowboy. I like them when they cast them young and handsome cowboys, insteadof usual old rotten one.

I am an Oklahoman. Fun film but not authentic to OK.
Cool
GOOD MOVIE. BUT WHY IS NUGGET CALLING ROCKY BY HIS NAME WHEN HE DON'T KNOW HIM AS ROCKY YET? LOL
Why not strap the dead bodies to a horse and have others identify them.
Cowboys galore getting shot dead in the middle of nowhere, who collects and buries those bodies or are they easy pickings for the vulchers.
🤠👍🏾
