@@JamesWilkerson-rd3pe- Back then, banks were uninsured & robbed so frequently, people didn't trust them. Also, he was on his way to set up a stage line (it didn't mention where he was relocating from), but may have closed out any accounts in a previous town, due to distance.

No wonder this was such a great story, written by the stupendous R. L. Stevenson, one of the best writers. I love old Westerns, and especially ones with well written storylines, and this was one I had not seen, which made it all the more enjoyable. Anything with Edgar Buchanan in it is worth watching. Thanks!

One of the best writers, but was also a radical socialist. Something that is slipped in to the end promoted "the ends justify the means" fallacy by claiming the crime theft is somewhat justified if it helps others. But this was produced in a time when they still chose quality over the political message, which is definitely NOT the case today and why main stream "entertainment" is so loathed.

Another mind-catching western motion picture with engaging story. With Buchanan in it, its appeal is guaranteed. I am enjoying it. I lived for over a decade in the States where I fell in love with classic western movies. Family circumstances forced me back where I had come, but my movie preference survived my departure. I still watch them, and, even if for some moments, take me back virtually to the day. Keep uploading.

@@carolynrussell774- I agree!! And even though a lot of people of that era lacked education, they seemed to have an adequate vocabulary that didn't limit them to 4-letter words & profanity or other vulgarity. That's partly why I prefer these old Westerns over today's movies. Back then, they had actual dialogue, not just a repetitive string of expletives!!

This movie had everything - mystery, excitement, great storytelling - and puts the typical western to shame. The great English writer Robert Louis Stevenson wrote this story (in the opening credits) and made himself one of the characters!
'Treasure Island', 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' and 'Kidnapped' among his many other classics!
    He died at age 44.

  • @Paul-lm5gv

William Bishop played the suave, smooth talking bad guy in a lot of movies. Nice to see him play the good guy. Forest Tucker (stage driver) before he became a big star. Gloria Henry died in 2021 age 98. She was in a bunch of quality films in the 1940s-50s but is best remembered as the mother in TV's classic comic strip sitcom 'Dennis the Menace' (1959-1963).
