Good movie, not your typical shoot em up western .. but a great story. My wife puts onions on her feet & chest when she has a cold or flu.. & takes vitamins & herbs.. it always fixes her.
the very fact she gets sick is very concerning no illness or sickness is normal in any world I'd consider iodine, Mg and selenium supps then a total diet review

*No Lonesome Dove is the most memorable western of all time…. Follow up comment, after watching, this movie is most excellent. One of the best western time period movies I’ve seen.* 😊
Awesome movie, that was one independent woman. In those olden times, western women were either married off to someone, and not by their own choice, but what their parents and relatives wanted them to marry, sold off to someone as a servant, etc., or becoming a dancehall gal and prostitution establishment. Women weren’t allowed to vote, read literature, write books, etc., and many men would consider them their property regardless if they married for love. Pioneer women had to be strong to endure the loneliness in their husbands absent if they were hunting or fighting off various enemies in a war or hostile people. In order to survive, they had to know how handle guns, chop wood, tend to crops, etc., besides other tasks if they lived on farms and ranches and doing all this raising children up. Raids on homesteaders were common among settlers living apart, with tribal peoples, bandits, and that didn’t include wild beasts nor predators which existed before settling the land, including snakes and other poisonous critters/vegetation they had to deal with, besides giving birth to children, which many died during childbirth while having babies, plus facing severe weather conditions along the way, especially in the winter time. Unless food was prepared properly during summer months and storing it in hidden underground cellars of sort, starvation was likely to occur….Calamity Jane chose a different path than becoming a total prisoner at home, she became a sharpshooter, wore men’s clothing, was an ox team driver, etc., to support her family…..it was no easy life for the frontier women….👍❤️❤️🙏🏼
It’s not too often I find movies of this genre or from this time period that I haven’t already watched a dozen times already, and although this concept has produced a number of similar films. I do believe it’s the first time I watched this particular movie, and although it was very slow and drug out in different parts. But overall was a halfway decent movie, about love, loss, acceptance and overcoming the human condition and the adversities that come with it.
True to life in most instances. You want to live your life but others hold you back. Men disappoint women and women disappoint men. Nowadays they think the answer is don't be what you are, so she was ahead of her time I suppose, but in the end we all die.
Best Westerns, Dances with wolves,,McClintock,,Shadow riders,,The good the bad the ugly, Tombstone,,lonesome dove,,this is None of those,,it's not the worst,,but it is No Where the best.
because it did not follow the usual script: Misunderstood kid takes a desperate path, and falls in with the wrong crowd, becomes a moral-based outlaw, girl sees potential in him, falls in love, he saves the sheriff and gets exonerated, and they live happily ever after
An enjoyable watch that was only slightly spoiled by the two Colt revolvers that date the gold rush town to post 1873! Why are most western films so lazy when it comes to important details?
She should've at least gone back to get all the money he sold her for and a loaded gun + ammo; OR better yet- just taken over his peddlers wagon and business, keeping a loaded gun ready for the 2 Army predators to feed the coyotes with or anyone else...lol
Yeah. This is the third movie I've recently seen where critical dialogue was removed. Here it was when she and Tin Man were arguing. He said something to her that stopped her cold. She made a decision, but what they said is gone. What else is gone I don't know. At the end it was re-edited in the wrong order. We see Tin Mans's overgrown grave and a couple of shots later, we see him die. Then the cowboy rides up and finds her dying. The grave shot belongs when he rides up. He dies; he's long buried; she dies.....and now it gets interesting. That's how it was supposed to be edited. Somebody took it apart and re-edited the movie. What's going on?
There was a gal who drove a wagon over the hill from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos as a man for years. Quite a treacherous path in the day as I understand. Nobody was the wiser.
The movie is called ? Spelling The Ballot of Little Jo. Base on a true story And at this point your into the movie it's in the Web in total or it was a year ago give or take. I'll give it 9 out of 10, Better than I expected! Pretty authentic wardrobe, except for the suspenders with metal -clamp adjusters (not common until late 1890's / early1900s) Suspenders 1800s -1890 adjusted by buttons and extra button-holes, NOT metal clamps ! Also revolver holsters worn too low ! Old West holsters worn high on waist ! I know what I'm talking about, studied 18th and 19th century history since 1958, BA from University. (Staff Sgt.. Ret., Marine Nam vet -1969-'70. USMC /USAF/ ARNG).12/12/2024.
