Actually, I was kind of touched by that scene, because this is such a hopeless situation with all those germans advancing inevetably and then they start singing... I thought they would die there :(
ther was nothing to laugh about!! this is one of the hopeless situation when they were outnumbered by enemies, so they sing to distract themselves from fear
They played a WW1 song, I think it was to flash the player back to BF1 for a bit so they'd really feel invigorated to fight, like the song was played to cheer them up and to get them into fighting spirit, and I must say it worked for me.
Thank you Sweet Berserk Jeff - I've failed this mission over 50 times, CANNOT get the planes before the troops advance. Now there's a chance... Cheers mate.
This scene feels really sad and I think it's because you can tell they feel completely hopeless, but when singing together they feel just that little bit better. Still kinda funny tho.
Haven't played the whole series, but I'd argue this the best Battlefield moment. You are in a last stand against impossible odds, only staying alive with your wits, and raw determination. You know you're doomed, the only question is how many of them are you taking with you?
I remember this scene, As soon as i heared the tune i began singing. And seeing the british fighters fly above and naval bombardment i felt the best sort of relief.
Thats weird at the start he says HOW ABOUT A BIT OF MUSIC EH but when I played he said LOOK AT WHAT I JUST FOUND maybe it has a random chance of picking one of them
@@dr._kompot996 Sorry, thought the kit bag thing was a Wolfenstein reference, I didn't know it was a common song back then. In Wolfenstein: The New Order (spoilers), you can choose to save one of two people at the end of Chapter 1, Private Probst Wyatt III, or Wing Commander Fergus Reid. If you save Wyatt, then he gets pinned by a Supersoldat 1946 and sings "Just pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag and smile, smile, smile!" But if you save Fergus, he sings "God save our gracious king, long live our noble king, long live the king!" By quoting him and saying "Fergus ftw" I was saying that I like Fergus better than Wyatt, thinking I had found a fellow Wolfenstein player. Obviously I was mistaken, though the opening takes place in an alternate-history WWII, so I should have known this was probably sung during WWII.
Matthew Naylor well he did say “look what I found” and I bet before the Germans where there someone either lived there or that was fought over during ww1
The song was an American tune in WW1, but was re-recorded by John McCormack and became a hit for British soldiers in WW2. The Germans also made their own version called "Das Boot"

The fact that they both knew at the time that they would perish, and they sang and had a good time anyway is great.
