For anyone wondering as to why Weit ist der Weg züruck ins Heimatland was included in the list, it was due to me mistaking it for a German remake of It's a long way to Tipperary.
I was only able to recognize my error when it was too late, deleting it meant that I had to rebuild half the entire video. Capcut does not take so kindly to removing the midsection of a video without disarranging all the words and images that were added subsequently (which, I no longer have any time to re-arrange all of them).
My apologies for it. Hopefully it did not ruin your experience of listening to the song compilation.
😂
Good morning with this song. Bless you!
@@sarkasedlackova3524 Likewise, my good fellow.
Sounded like another WW1 song "Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag." Which is still a nice song. As Star Wars members say "A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
@@atticussanders7394 Indeed, it is.
Although, it was still a mistake on my part.
I like how the French version is about the fact that the singer is hearing British troops singing the original, as a sign the british reinforcements have arrived because he can hear them sing. It's a fun twist for the song to be about itself in a roundabout way.
Yeah, I liked that too
Cool
this song travelled on so many sailing ships. There are a dozen or more versions. One in Rhodesia, New Zealand and Australia! You can learn the history of culture from just this song alone!
Indeed.

The Czech version sounds like your neighbour with a foreign accent trying to speak english with banjos
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Damn, that new british version of that song sounds like the last radio recording of a resistance group
The English version is the best by far
I am a Turk and while watching DAS BOOT, I noticed this song and found myself here. While my great grandfather was in the trenches at Gallipoli, he probably heard your Anzac, English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh great grandfathers singing this song in the opposite trenches, but he could not understand its meaning. I know that when they got tired of throwing bombs and bullets at each other, they sang songs to each other, the trenches were so close, and there is one more thing I know. ,and that they respect each other even though they are enemies at the same time. With respect and gratitude to all your grandfathers and great-grandfathers who fought for their country and died proudly for us... "It's a long way to Tipperary"
Likewise to your ancestors who were deployed in combat, mad respect to them.
Same because of das boot I was here
My great grandfather was at Gallipoli too and he had a lot of good things to say about the Turks.
One story he told was a quiet day when they were doing work on the trench and a bloke put the head of his shovel too far up and suddenly *bam* there's a new hole in it. Then one of the lads reports that they're waving a shovel on the other side and my great grand dad clicked onto what was going on and took a shot at it with a satisfying *ping* and a cheer confirming the hit. Spent a good couple of hours playing that game until a British officer came by to see what the commotion was about and told them to knock it off and get back to work

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the songs.
Czech version has a blue grass vibe to it.
There's actually a ww2 Norwegian resistance song called "Dra til skogs" which uses the same melody, but completely different lyrics.
Interesting.

The links are actually complete, but RUclips disabled them due to them revoking my channel's verificaton. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
Here are the lyrics.
==[German]==
I.
==[English]==
I.
During the year '16, on the great vast sea,
The High Seas fleet sailed north, pursuing the Tommies.
Sailing for the Emperor is our highest honor,
Even if the enemy is innumerable, and the service strenuous.
Chorus.
It's a long way to Wilhelmshaven,
It's a long way out here.
It's a long, long way to Wilhelmshaven,
To the most beautiful sweetheart back home.
Farewell, tempestuous North Sea,
Farewell, Skagerrak.
It's a long way to Wilhelmshaven,
The wreck goes home, worthless.
II.
On the 31st of May, it was said: "Ship ahead!"
The sailors rushed from their bunks to the deck.
On the horizon, everyone spots the black smoke;
And everyone sang the song, as was custom.
III.
When the battle concluded, we returned home victorious;
The Sun illuminated its bright light for us.
Many British ships had been sunk because of our proud gun,
And all the sailors now sang united in a chorus.
World War One wolfenstien be like 11:52.
And Kaiserreich.

pq es el himno oficial de river, yo tampoco sabia que era basado en esa cancion JAJAJAJAJAJ
