- Battlefield is arguably one of the most famous Video game series of all time. When you think of FPS games there's not many titles that come before battlefield. The most recent release of Battlefield 2042 and its terrible reception has effectively ruined the possibility of a better game in the future.

The battlefield 1 trailer was one of the most hype and beautiful game trailers I've seen, the moment I saw that I wanted the game so bad.
Dude i was teary eyed during the prologue mission.
Amazing how the huge hype didn't flatten the game itself. Often times trailers hype you up so much, that the game itself doesn't seem that good but they held up the cinematics even in a multiplayer.

Battlefield 1 effectively killed CoD and Battlfield at the same time. How could anyone possibly hope to match a masterpiece like that? Even EA themselves had no chance
Yeah, I think they knew they fucked up when they made a decent game.
What a stupid statement. Except cod is anything but dead.
Babis first battlefield. Battlefield 1 was already a shadow of itself.
BF1 was one of the best battlefields EVER released.
That game sucked
BF1 gave you such incredibly serene moments in the game when you played it. I was once defending this hill with my friend and a couple randoms posted up with lmgs and then like 20 enemies came charging at us from the front and let me tell you, that made me feel like i was in a movie with how I was mowing down people and having grenades blow up 5 ft from me. Favorite moment in gaming.
Running through smoke, fire and gas just to spear a guy in the chest with a bayonet.

Playing Operations on the Verdun map in BF1 is one of my best ever gaming experiences. Both sides kept going back and forth for 4 hours, it was genuinely epic.

Completely agree! Fighting amongst a forest fire, smokey dark atmosphere leading to an operation locker type fort! That is the crown jewel of BF1 operations
I don't understand why the Verdun map is empty on playstation........ it's the most ww1 battle and massive xp

Bf1 was so good that multiplayer felt like a cinematic itself at times. The explosions the fire the bullets from both sides the mild blur on your whole screen or mud and dirt on the sides when hit hard made you truly felt like a soldier in the war. it is one of my favs of all time.

Battlefield 1 was truly an amazing gaming and proves that if you make a good game people will not only play it, but basically harass everyone they know until they play it too. It's almost like people will actually gladly give you their money if you make something that's both genuinely enjoyable and actually works, like maybe they don't need to be tricked into paying you if you just offer them something they actually want. Idk, that's just my crazy theory.
🤣🤣💯
BF2142 had and has a good and devoted community. I remember, after shutting down official servers, there was and maybe still is a project driven by community, where they run private servers for this game with updates, patches etc.
I am not sure if it's stil an ongoing thing, since I know EA sued administrators for it, but maybe you can still enjoy that game with your father. Cheers.
That's not how capitalism works under oligopoly. The people making choices at this moment have _nothing but contempt_ for customers, and are characterologically incapable of making a good-will and mutually beneficial product. If they're not fking us around somehow, they feel cheated.
Humans are not completely evil, but we have a major streak of it, and corporate types especially. And once they're in charge...
But 99% of all gaming companys these days don't want to do the work, just get quick money and sadly Alot or actually most people still buy into it.
That's why we don't see a change for the better in gaming but the opposite.
Idk actually Battlefield V that came out right after only sold half the copies and it seems every bit as good, maybe better campaign even, kinda proving you wrong instantly.
That intro upon booting up BF1 for the first time is genius, no hand holding you get dropped right into the middle of the Great War. You see German and friendly soldiers killing each other and it’s super dark and gritty, what you could expect from the time
When that happened I was immediately hooked and it remains as one of my favorite games of all time, it’s also a really underused time period for games with so much potential
Yes I know it's old, but if you have Steam, absolutely go get Bad Company 2. Yes, it's a little out of date, but it holds up surprisingly well, and the sheer level of chaos and destruction you can do with explosive weaponry in that game has been matched by few games since. Also, the campaign mode characters are very well written and funny. I will always remember it as one of the best FPS games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

It's crazy how many people joined at later games. To me BF3 was the golden era. It was before they tried to make the game appealing to the COD audience.
Bf4 was solid once it was fixed. Bf3 was good right off the rip and even still decent today.
I started with 1942, but having played every battlefield except 2042, I can confidently say Bad Company 2 was the peak and BF1 was the renaissance.
Nothing rivals BF3 Metro matches
BC2, BF3 and BF4 were all peak. After that... well we all know what happened lol
Well they did try to appeal to cod players even then with close quarters dlc. The difference is even close quarters was great. Bf3 was made by the old "real dice" before they where replaced by 'ea people"
I don’t think I ever had a better experience in battlefield than on 4 and 1 with friends. Especially 1 where it was so easy to be immersed into the environment, setting, and the chaos it brought.
Bf1 was great, i'd say it was almost a masterpiece. It had a few problems but it was almost perfect
Neither have I, with the exception of 3. One of my friends talked me into getting 2042 to play it with him, and it's absolutely terrible. The rubber-band issues in BF4 have nothing on that game, I felt like I was constantly warping in and out of the time-space continuum with all the latency problems.
@@VerkingKerng is great not was
why did you forget about the fact that BF4 was AND STILL IS the most bugged game when it comes to singleplayer, in the history of universe?
BF1 was probably peak battlefield or just past the crest.... its been downhill ever since. Increasingly broken game at launch, specialists, loot boxes, season passes, etc. EA managed to out-EA itself in greed.
Then they somehow convinced themselves it was a good idea to throw away everything that worked in BF, which might have been fine if any of that actually F'ing worked. Personally throwing out a finely honed dedicated class system for some money-grubbing jack-of-all-trades specialist system was a stupid design choice (wasn't even properly balanced anyways).
its actually sad because my favourite game of all time was bf4. operation locker, flaking enemies, taking lifts, being tactical with equipment and gun choices. bf1 was fun but wasnt my personal preference due to less gun customisation. i thought bf2042 would bring back some of that old feeling, but i played 3 hours and its sat on my console doing nothing now. such a shame because i LOVED it. i hope they can bring it back
BF4 was good, but my favorite will forever be Bad Company 2. It's genuinely one of the best FPS games ever made.
I remember going to my friends house and he was playing Bad Company 2. It blew my mind how good it looked from the environment, guns, sounds and graphics. At the time, all I played was COD so seeing this was a breath of fresh air. Then he told me BF3 was coming out and we watched the trailer for the first time, we both looked at each other and decided to pre-order. I remember playing the beta on PC and having so much fun. Miss those days when games were actually fun and innovative. Now companies try to copy each other by making shit battle royals... No one who actually plays games wants a battle royal!!! Those are for the people that used to play games on their phone to pass time and now they have a PC or Console. They are shit and take zero skill to play or to make. Some times I wish I knew how to design games so I could make one that would actually be fun to play. Tired of these big companies taking us for granted and pushing bad products. It's why I haven't paid full price for a game in 7 years. It's just not worth it anymore...
Honestly, a remaster of BC2 would excite me more than a new battlefield game at this point. I've stopped buying EA products altogether, but I'll take any excuse to boot up Bad Company 2 again.

BF4 was such a versatile game. TDM was so fast paced. Conquest was absolute chaos. It made you want to play as hard as humanly possible. Pulling off a clutch win as the final seconds of the match tick down - what a feeling. Playing with friends only made it better.

BF3 was my most played, and on PS3 too. Loved the shit out of it, foibles included lol. Also, IIRC, the initial Battlepass (not the "premium" passes they added later) wasn't as bad as it might seem, as it was included with every new purchase of the game (and tied to account registration). It functioned cross-platform as well, so you could keep all unlocks and didn't have to repurchase the pass. 2:52 I know this is random but the background singing is the same as the sample used in Kendrick Lamar's song: Sing about me, I'm dying of thirst. I instantly recognized it because that's one of my favourite songs of all time. For anyone curious, if you go to the song at 7:28 you can hear it. Where the frick is that sampled from? Haha
BF Bad Company 2 and BF 3 will forever be in my Heart! Spend so much time time on this games. Its a big shame what happened to BF especially BF 2042....
Battlefield 1 is absolutely my favourite shooter of all time. I think they key to it's success was the amazing immersion. I always remember one time where my team and I were pinned down, hiding behind rocks in the mountains of Monte Grappa with mortars, assault planes and machine guns firing on our position. I went and grabbed a Sentry kit and charged the enemy, my team rallying behind me and pushing no matter the casualties. We managed to take both points and win the match eventually. It really felt like fighting your way out of hell in defiance of death and moments like these are what makes the game so amazing to me.
The game is so cinematic, every engagement feels epic and grand, feels like im in a movie
The balance in BF 1 as well was perfect, both aircraft, and Tanks and vehicles didn't feel arcadey OP, but at the same time, I didn't have infantry eating 900 bullets from my tank to charge at me and 1 shot me with C4 either. But as an Infantry while tanks were scary, I know working with 1-2 others to take it down would be possible, or at least be able to break the track and slow it down.
When it came to aircraft, if an aircraft killed me, it was honestly well played on their part, because there wasn't any fly by wire, laser guided bs, and playing as a plane, every infantry didn't have a AA launcher shoved up their ass ready to shoot me from 15 different angles all at once either, with literal access to infinite ammunition.
It all made it feel like a seriously cohesive fun game, where teamwork was king, and everyone had a chance to be the hero.
Yall were pinned then boom a blimp showed up for support
Ball room blitz was the best the hall way would get gassed out and the sound design was amazing the screams and gunfire sounded phenomenal
Best moment for me was in a game of operations but the lobby was almost empty. It became like a 7v7 of just melee weapons. Everyone was running around with knives or hatchets. Fucking glorious.
Battlefield 1 is arguably the best game EA ever developed.

its arguably the best game, but you would lose said argument
BF1 gotta be one of the most immersive FPS games ever
Battlefield 3 was my game. I remember being so addicted to long range kills with the sniper rifle once I figured out the bullet drop system. ❤
I love playing operations in bf1. It truely feels like you're in a war, I remember hiding behind a wall just to charge out last second and gun down 3 enemies in order to buy time for my team to retreat. Fantastic game.
It was fun the first few weeks, when people were still trying and playing realistically. But then you had people quitting as soon as you didn’t advance first try, people only sitting in the back sniping not advancing and people immediately quitting/switching teams if they were defending. Really killed the game mode. Large realistic cooperative game modes would be amazing, if you didn’t have to play with 60 egoistic morons.
I still play battlefield 1 today, the best battlefield honestly
FAX
For me it's to casual. I like the atmosphere, sound, graphics and the immersion you feel when playing operations. I think because it's casual, the success was this big.
It's a good bf but BF3 and bf4 were simply better in my eyes.
Battlefield 4 for the win

BF1 is a classic.. that’s why it sold the most!! Visually stunning.. atmospheric.. gameplay.. gun play!! The list goes on
Ye ye, good point, well put together video.
But were the songs used my dude?
You forgot to mention BF:Vietnam had the best online feature out of any BF game: a radio you could play in any vehicle and it would sound the music to any occupant and people in close proximity, so you could drive through the jungles in a tank blasting Rush or flying a huey while blasting Ride of the Valkyries and so on. BF:Vietnam will forever be memorable to me due to that... Oh and it also had air-lifting vehicles via helicopter lift cables and weird "traps" you could spring on your enemies via environmental hazards like falling logs.
bought my 1st p.c for BFV
Agree. BF Vietnam never got the love it deserved. I thought it was an amazing game with fantastic music.
Words can't describe the immersion of playing battlefield 1 with noise canceling headphones.

Holy fk it was yeaaaars since I played bf 2142. Damn
I loved BF1 but man it was tough to play with friends, inviting friends on the party system was so scuffed, hardly ever worked. Server browser was scuffed, to play operations you had to use the ingame menus as a work around. The team balance would take your friend from your party into the other team too (wtf) so fighting for 30 mins felt pointless to be put on losing side, plus sometimes it would glitch and show game over on my friends screen before the map was even over. Looked amazing tho!

there are like 50,000 people playing right now. They slashed the price of B1 and now it is really resurging. Even 6 years later.
To this very day, the BF 1 official release trailer is the 5th most viewed game trailer OF ALL TIME. That game was peak bf, many of the devs who worked on the first battlefield instalment said bf 1 was a passion project the team and been dreaming of making for years. After BF 1 the majority of those passionate devs moved on, a hand-full stayed for BF V but after that released, no one who worked on the originals remained. It really shows.
I remember back in 2011/2012, when my friends and I played BF3 day and night. Amazing game. Sad, how EA managed to destroy such a amazing series.
They are too busy making the same fifa game every year

Man I played so much bf3 back when it came out. Hands down the best battlefield experience I’ve had was playing that game. Went downhill from there.
@@ChubbyTheEwok That is true, however EA caused DICE to fall apart in the first place. They pressured them into releasing a game faster and forced them to drop the quality, thus many senior developers and veterans left.

What fascinates me the most about BF 2042 is how the marketing KNEW EXACTLY what the people expect from the game and how in contrast the developers and EA were absolutley clueless.
It's a reflection of swedish society, the woke virus at it's worst, so they turn everything into a weapon for trying to push woke agenda. And then the game itself comes as an afterthought, most important thing is pushing the ideology.

Bro i love you so much for putting music fron the best Album ever released on this Vid. A fellow GkMc enjoyer
The best thing that I’ve ever experienced in Battlefield was in BF1, it was on the Monte Grappa Operation, me and my friends were on the attacking team and had made very good progress on the first battalion.
We had just about run out of tickets before we reached the 2nd to last sector, the one with the bunker and the bridge objectives. For most of the game we were just chatting and enjoying ourselves, but when our team got down to 20 tickets that phenomenal end of round music started playing, we actually started focusing. Because a round of operations can only be successfully defended if the defenders fully control at least 1 objective, for almost 3 minutes both teams were in an extremely aggressive back and forth between the two objectives, with us attackers capturing one as the other was lost, only to not fully take it and the vice versa happens.
I was desperately reviving as many people as I can, whom were just throwing themselves at the objectives in a frenzied attempt to capture the objectives, one of my friends was in an attack plane and keeping a significant amount of the defenders out of action, and my other friend was playing the most useful scout ever, placing flares in the best places possible.
Me and my scout friend noticed we were about to lose the bridge objective as no one was there, so we spawned there, and some insanely lucky hip-firing allowed us to survive long enough for teammates to arrive, and then both objectives were ours and we could push on.
Almost 3 full minutes of no nonsense actual callouts, phenomenal music, and some of the hardest fighting we had ever done in a video game. No other game has ever come close to what Battlefield 1 (and 4, in other ways) has given us. And now Battlefield has been executed by its creators.
At what point am I considered an old hag for how many game franchises I have seen the deaths of lol
It wasn't executed by its creators, they already left. The dev team for 2042 is likely just a shell of its former glory. The people who made Battlefield 1 what it was are for the most part working at other studios now, especially Embark.

I have played every single Battlefield game there is. Including 1943 and all DLCs there were (Vietnam, Spec-Ops, Aftermath, CC, etc).
The most fun Battlefields were Bad Company 2 and BF3. BF4 was just a reskinned BF3 with less good maps and weird graphics (in Multiplayer). People love BF4 so much because for console players it was their first experience with 64 players. The maps are garbage and so is the vehicle infantry balancing. Infantry and AA weapons and vehicles destroy Aircraft while there is too much tanks and IFV’s on some maps. Vehicle regen is a cancer and should be redacted. Vehicle regen has fucked up the balance between vehicles and infantry since 3.
@@detectiveharris8772 I don't agree at all, it was amazing. I also played both on PC so wasn't due to that. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
While BF4 had a fairly buggy launch I gotta say its my personal favorite in the series, when the DLC came out that added carrier assult that was all I played for the longest time as by then bugs were mostly gone and weapons and TTK felt so good. After I left for a while no one played that mode anymore and my new favorite became Operation Locker Domination, it was what I wanted BF! to be like, I wasn't the biggest fan of how you often had to watch all 360 degrees or worry about a sniper 2000 miles away and the tight corridors and very intense gunfights and the general slog was just the best (I still feel like that was the only time an LMG actually felt like a machine gun and not a worse AR, as you often got a chance to actually set it up in choke points and suppress) While I enjoyed the gameplay of BF1, I just wish they had maps that didn't have 50 ways to flank around everyone and that there were more times like the start of Operation locker, where all of both teams would just smash into each other in the middle as whoever got control of top and bottom of the tower had the heavy MG watching the door and from there could push.

You missed Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. Which was apparently had multiplayer but I never played it. The single player missions were fun and there were tons. You would jump back and forth between playing as NATO fighting China and China fighting NATO. It had a really cool system where you could take control of other NPC soldiers fighting. So say you want to be in a tank, you could just swap characters basically with the guy driving the tank and the soldier you were just playing as would continue to fight alongside you. It was cool, made it easy to zip around maps honestly if there were friendly soldiers all over the place. Also put a timer on missions since you didn't have unlimited lives. Only so many soldiers entered the mission and when you died you'd just take control of a different soldier. If you ran out of soldiers to take over mission's done. Not unlimited ammo either. Missions were legit hard as hell. Super fun game but I never hear anyone ever talk about it.
EDIT: Ah looking into it just now I guess Modern Combat was the console port of Battlefield 2 and also an expansion for the PC version. Pretty cool, never knew that. Regardless Modern Combat was so fucking good, gotta say. BF 1 was ofc awesome. I really liked BF V, I don't understand the dislike of the game. Campaigns were fun and the MP was great. I miss playing BF1942 and Modern Combat though. And now also the OG CoD games, Medal of Honor, a bunch of other WWII games. Brothers in Arms; Hells Highway is one, such a good game. It focused on tactics just as much as regular FPS stuff. You could have 3 squads with you suppressing enemies and flanking ppl. So cool. I miss gaming as a kid

On El Alamein I used to drive jeeps and pick up shot down pilots. Some time even enemy ones :) First they shot at me but ususally they got on the jeep for a free ride.
i cant explain how much i loved bf1, such a real large scale feling
It took 2 games to end such an established and well known franchise. 3 short years, 2018 to 2021. This should be a lesson to all and everyone.
I'd argue it was moreso over six games.
This guys video is frankly collossal garbage because the lack of detail on each game shows a lack of knowledge of the franchise history. But Battlefield 3 had pretty mediocre reception and longtime complaints of bad map design. Battlefield 4 pushed too hard into speeding the game up and resulted in a chaotic mess of a game, on top of initially awful bugs.
Battlefield 1 is actually a very good game, but its design across the board is anti-thetical to older Battlefield games. It comes off like the developers either didn't get Battlefield anymore or actively pushed to make something nothing like it. Its so fast paced it feels like playing War Thunder.
Battlefield 5 is awfully wedged in feeling like older battlefield crossed with the chaotic pace of 4 and 1 which makes it feel unfocused. But mechanically its the tightest game of the post Bad Company games outside One.
And now 2042 feels like someone combined everything bad about Battlefield 3, 4 and One into one game, while fucking up basic aspects otherwidr.
There's no lesson anymore this is EA. They have been doing this since 1997 starting with Maxis and Westwood titles. If you believe any IP made by EA will last more than 2 games before greed and corruption comes in to ruin everything than you're the fool.
