"This song could kill racism" is an amazing thing to say because Ska came from mixing black and white cultures in the late 60s. This is the third wave of it. First wave Ska is great herb music! Also the stick throw air drumming was class hahaha

It was roughly '98 or '99 when my girlfriend (now wife) and I drove up the interstate to catch Less Than Jake and the Mad Caddies in Fargo-Moorhead. The show was great! But then we had to haul ass 150 miles south to get home since it was a school night and we hadn't told our parents we were going! As luck would have it, a nasty winter storm blew in which slowed the interstate traffic to less than 15mph due to white-out blowing snow. We ended up spending the night in my '88 Sentra parked next to a semi trailer on an off-ramp. Luckily I had the forethought to bring the family bag-phone (look it up, kids), so we were able to contact our parents before they panicked. Either way- the show was great and it gave us a fun story. No regerts.

LTJ has been mostly unknown for 30 years. I've been a fan since roughly 1996 tho! The first song i heard was called 'Automatic' which later popped up on a punk sampler CD called 'Cinema Beer Nuts' in 1997, i was hooked on the genre by then!

You're likely about to get a lot of hits on this as it just found its way to the Less Than Jake fan clubs and they have a huge following, even today.
You mentioned that this type of music would cheer people up...
I suffer from some major mental illnesses including but limited to severe depression. I've attempted suicide many times and been hospitalized more than once.
You are absolutely right. Without this band's music, and this entire genre and the scene attached... I'd be dead.

As a whole album, as great as their older ones were (I grew up on skatepunk/skapunk) See the Light is a fantastic album from the mid 2010's that is worth listening to in your spare time. You'll get a real application for the band. As an older class Losing Streak was the go to.

Also try to check out The Red Hot Chili Peppers(more Funk Rock but got a little Ska sound in some of their songs 🤘🏼)
