One thing he didn't mention is WHY Tyr didn't laugh when Fenrir was finally bound. It wasn't just because he had lost his hand, it was mainly because he and Fenrir actually had a really strong friendship with each other, and he had basically betrayed that friendship.

Kratos’s linneage is really cursed, at first he destroyed Greece and their Gods, and now his son, grandchildren and great-grandsons will destroy Norse Gods.
Maybe, but that seems the antithesis to the story's message about parenting. It might be a pessimistic story about "like father, like son", or an optimistic one where the father (Kratos) does his best to teach the son (Atreus) that he shouldn't follow the same destructive path, and the son growing up with different morals, picking aspects they respect while choosing things they would do differently, as humans do.
Mr. Crawfords channel is amongst the best content you can find on youtube. Seriously, youre doing yourself a massive disservice if you dont subscribe to him. Even if youre uninterested in norse mythology, his ncalm explanations, sens of humor and enormous curiosity will draw you in.
If Fárbauti is Loki's father in mythology, and he is a dangerous striker, then having the Greek divine personification of strength as his father makes sense.
2:14 Crawford has just said “dragon” for Jormungandr and it makes more sense to me. The dragons are the main attraction to me because they will never make me frightening aaand they have a giant impact to me.
Old Norse refers to both normal snakes and what we might call dragons as "worms". But they generally seem to have thought of dragons as wingless creatures, though not necessarily legless.
No they can't change the prophecy, because any decisions they take will need to the same end. This is why many heroes in Norse Myth opted to ignore the prophecy, because they know the Norns' threads are absolute.
No, their fate had already been determined, no matter what they do, they can’t change the prophecy. They’re basically doomed, take odin for example in the end, it didn’t matter that he had fenrir chained, he tried as much as he could change his fate, but when the ragnarok came, fenrir was there to kill Odin, the same way thor Will always kill Jomungandr but right after die to it’s venom.
Question for anyone to answer: did the believers of norse mythology believe this was the past or times yet to come? Or is there a line that passes from past to future?
Ragnarök is prophecy, most of the Loki stuff is trickster creation myths. In the "now", Loki is chained in the underworld as punishment for the death of Baldr, his anguish causing earthquakes. Slight caveat is that, even though this stuff is part of traditional education over here in Scandinavia, there was _a lot_ of free interpretation done in the 19th century. You basically need a PhD like this dude has to know what pre-Christian Vikings actually _believed_ and what a bunch of poets in the modern era thought was really cool.

Are the Giants similar to Titans in Greece mythology? Like Odin is very similar to Zeus? Why are there so many similarities between mythologies however timing is so far apart?
Weirdly yes, the wolf fenrir, the world serpent Jörmungandr and the ruler of the dead- Hel are the children of Loki and jötunn Angrboða. It's possible that the developers might shy away completely from the mythology and tell their own version of the story which they have done almost the entirety of all their games.
He misses the ENTIRE point to the myths. That point being that the myths are allegorical and esoteric spiritual truths. That’s the problem with academia.
he already has. They clearly aren’t following the myths closely so there’s no reason to care about her skin color to begin with, the sagas do talk about meeting African people, one of the few “neutral-ish” contemporary sources was a Middle Eastern man (the origin of the concept that Vikings had tattoos and the famous female slave sacrifice ritual so his work is very important to modern interpretations), and Vikings didn’t seem to have a strong concept of racial differences to begin with. Skin color is almost never mentioned (in fact appearances are not metioned heavily in general and it seems they left it up to everyone’s imagination - so the game designers imagined her this way)
One thing he didn't mention is WHY Tyr didn't laugh when Fenrir was finally bound. It wasn't just because he had lost his hand, it was mainly because he and Fenrir actually had a really strong friendship with each other, and he had basically betrayed that friendship.
That's kinda sad
Tyr betrayed Fenrir so Fenrir took his hand as punishment. Fair trade.
