You are really a fantastic teacher. . . .I can watch your teaching all day. Thank you so much for making watercolour painting in a most simplified way to understand. I will keep looking forward to watch you teach many more painting ideas..
Hi Jackie! Thanks! It is such a great colour combination and so simple in many ways! But of course watercolour is sometimes not simple if you don't understand it. Cheers Scott
Hi Marion, it's a lovely simple watercolour this one! I always try and put as much detail as i can in the description so you can find out what you want to know there. Happy painting. Cheers Scott
Hi Kerry! Really glad you have found me if you are new to watercolour! It can be a difficult and frustrating medium if you don't understand it and it is always my aim to help people understand it! Good luck!
This is wonderful with the limited colors!! Always enjoy all videos and this is simple to do with a lot of impact!! Thank you Scott for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
Hi Pamela! Yes I think many things are not easy in watercolour at the beginning. I think understanding the medium is important! Really important. Happy painting! Some of my early videos are good to watch if you are just beginning. Have a look! 👍🙏
Love this!!! Love the way you use tissue paper to remove excesse paint, and that weird brush for the trees! Great tips!!! Will definitely follow you on Patreon!!! Thanks always!
Hi Lia! Thanks for following me on Patreon! There is a pic of the weird fan brush on the private Facebook group I sent you the link to. You can hack up a fan brush so it can make interesting marks! 👍👍
I’ve just found your channel from scrolling through Pinterest watercolour painting inspiration photos.. so glad I did. I’ve been painting since March so still a beginner but watching your videos tonight something has just clicked and hopefully I’m going to be painting a whole lot better. Thank you so much Scott 👌 ps. Your art is fantastic..
Hey Scott... Love your paintings.. so moving and soulful! Learning this amazing medium all the time.. but I always struggle with scraping out lights.. 😥..clumps of paper pull out and sometimes spoil my stuff.. I do wait until totally dry, but is this where I am going wrong?
Love it! Could you please tell me what paper you use, what is that tape you use that does not tear off the paper, and what kind of blade do you useTo scrape away color? I would really appreciate your answers!! Love all your work!
Hi 55luv! It should all be in the description. I use Rives bfk etching paper most of the time. 280 gsm white. I use 3M removable tape (blue box) snd a Stanley razor.
Beautifully simple and effective Scott. The sky depends on how much water is on the page and how thick the paint is - a delicate balance. Mine are often disappointing. Do you have an idea where you want the clouds to be?
Hi Barbara, yes when I’m painting most of the time I have a rough idea of where I want the clouds to be. Generally clouds are more saturated at the top of the page and lighter at the bottom as they recede into the distance and become closer together unless it’s a sunrise or sunset which of course is brighter on the horizon! 👍👍
I really enjoy your tutorials - since I am a beginner watercolorist, I find your style of teaching is unintimidating and quite beautiful in a simplistic way. I've discovered that the more I work at my painting the worse it becomes! I like the looseness you give to your paintings. What kind of brush did you use for the trees? Keep the paintings coming - Thank you!
Hi Marilyn! Yes watercolour can easily turn to mud! That's why it is good to use a limited palette or even just use one colour at times! The brush was an old hacked up fan brush. It makes interesting marks. you can make one with a pair of scissors. Cheers Scott
Hi Peggy! It is lovely and simple I agree! Paintings don't need to be complicated it is often easy to forget that I find for me! In terms of Aussie Bush colours I'm not the best at mixing those! I often use the earth colours mixed with blues to get something akin to the aussie bush such as cobalt blue and raw umber or french ultra and burnt umber. Cheers Scott
Love the simplicity of 2 colors. I find the skies you paint fascinating.
Many thanks Scott yes simple to you nice work.....
Beautiful 💜

Hi Jackie! Thanks! It is such a great colour combination and so simple in many ways! But of course watercolour is sometimes not simple if you don't understand it. Cheers Scott
I live both of these colours and together they remind me of the Hartz range near Alice Springs. The earth colour is perfect. Can’t wait to have a go.
Simple but so evocative. Lovely complementary colour scheme. TFS!!
Hi Starving artist! You don’t need many colours in watercolour to create mood!! 👍🙏
Always a pleasure to watch you paint.

Also what brand of watercolors do you use and recommend? You are a wonderful painter!
Winsor and Newton artist quality tubes.

You overthink, that tree on it's own told a better story than the 3. Great work and I'm a comp novice. Lol
Thanks Wheelie! It just felt too close to the edge like it was going to exit stage right! lol
Thank you Scott, that's so beautiful in all its simplicity. What Aussie Bush colours do you use?

You say that you’re using Burnt Umber. It looks more like Burnt Sienna though? Can you please confirm?
Hi Cindy, it is definitely burnt umber by winsor snd Newton. Promise! 👍
Daniel smith burnt umber , raw umber ,raw sienna are totally different to Windsor and Newton
Thanks Chris! I need to try out Daniel smith watercolours! 👍
🙏🌊🔱 thank you
No worries Socrates! 👍👍👍
🤩🤩🤩🙏
Thanks Agnes!
