    I love the spherical form of the foreground leading to the horizon. Captures a spacial dimension.

    Congratulations on your 20k subs Scott, I'm so pleased for you as I know, from your previous comments, it means a lot for your future plans. It's great to see the 'effervescent' Scott back this week, as you haven't seemed yourself over the last few weeks. This piece shows such a wonderful play of light on water, and demonstrates the importance of leading the eye to the main subject. Thank you. Take care.
    Btw, I meant to say I live in the UK, the North of England not far from Whitby. As a full time carer for my husband I don't get out to practice plein air, but it would be wonderful if you could include a UK scene on your channel sometime. Many thanks again for your hard work. Audrey 🙏🙂

I will happily do a painting from a part of the north of England. My wife is from Clitheroe so I’ve seen quite a bit of the northern part but I’ve not been to Whitby yet! Thanks again. Cheers scott 🙏🙏

    Thank-you Scott! I not only appreciate your talent, but I'm so grateful for your teaching as well. I'm not formally trained. I'm definitely trying to understand and learn the making of a great piece of art through composition, values and shapes etc. just like you! Every one of your videos increases my understanding and I'm excited every time I look to see if the notification bell has a new tutorial from you. Thank-you for your generous heart! If it's okay with you I have a question about another video of yours here on RUclips? I'm sorry I don't remember the title, but it was for beginners. During the tutorial you had the reference photo in the top left/right hand side of the screen. It was very helpful to see that. I know the reference is only meant as a guide, but it was very cool to see what you were observing(another skill I'm trying to learn) and the decisions you were making to have a great outcome. I just loved that! I was wondering if you might be able to incorporate this in future videos. Thank-you again! P.S. My apologies for this being too wordy. :-)

    • @ScottSwinson
      @ScottSwinson  2 года назад +2

      Hi Julie! Thanks! I’m really pleased you like the videos! If I am using a reference photo in my next painting I will put it on the screen. Good to know it was helpful to see it. On Patreon I always share a JPEG of the reference photo but you can’t do that on RUclips. Happy painting! 👍🙏

    A fantastic tutorial! Very practical, with great technique tips. Love how you are mixing your watercolours directly on the white bench top. What is the bench top? White laminate or melamine? And I notice you use 3M tape for both sticking down the 300gsm watercolour paper and to do straight lines in the watercolour. is that the tape you're using, 3M magic (or invisible tape)? Your large flat brushes, are they best in goat's hair?

  • @chukoshenina5326
    @chukoshenina5326 2 года назад +2

    That is spectacular! A unique approach I haven’t seen on RUclips, so far. May I ask what type of a drafting tape you are using for your border? The one I’m using comes off easily while painting… Thank you sharing your gift.

    • @ScottSwinson
      @ScottSwinson  2 года назад

      Hi Chu! I’m really pleased you enjoyed it! I use 3M magic tape to tape down the paper. 25% of the tape on the paper and 75% on the board. I use MDF board. 👍👍

    Wooohoo 20k ! Congratulations! Scott, what is the difference between a Holbein hake and Ron Ranson?

    • @ScottSwinson
      @ScottSwinson  2 года назад +2

      Thanks Sue!! Pretty cool! The difference is the Holbein hakes seem to have softer goat hair and have a bit less which in my eyes makes it easier to control the amount of water/pigment moving onto the page. And the softness makes it easier to paint a layer over the top of an existing layer with out disturbing it! 👍👍

I’m thinking an iceberg with 15% above the water and 85% below because that is what describes PD. (Only 15% is visible). Could you give me an idea where to start?
