"Runes are complicated, how do I explain them? Interior design!"
Explaining Magic items to my 5e players/friends is always such a fun experience:
"Wait, your System's economy works???"
BRUH I literally was telling my group "This week I need to figure out how runes work so as we level we can use them properly." and like divine intervention here comes the exact video Ineeded. thank you Good Sir.
I’ve tried the rest (of the Pathfinder RUclipsrs) and this channel is the best.
Welcome to the hidden chamber of the King, he does good stuff.
@@kevensutton oh I've been watching for a while now. And as I alluded to, eventually all the other RUclipsrs always end up being...pretty juvenile/mentally imbalanced. But I guess that's just all of tabletop, on average.
So basically, Fundamental Runes make something better at what it's designed for, like making a sword better at cutting, while Property Runes add things something couldn't do normally, like making a Blade burn (or maybe increase an effect associated with or caused by it, like making an opponent bleed or causing fear)?
pretty much.
Fundamental runes are your +1/+2/+3. They make your armor and/or weapon generically better at doing its thing, and you're kind of "expected" to get them at certain levels in order to keep up with the stronger enemies you'll be fighting.
Property runes add extra effects that you don't normally have. Fire damage is an obvious example, or you could add spectral wings to your armor at a high level.
Bleed is a property rune because it's a lot more dramatic than your typical sword cut. Think of it like a samurai movie where someone gets cut and a huge spray of blood flies out. Every time you hit an enemy, there's a chance of that happening to them.
Similarly, fear runes offer a magical fear effect. Most of the things you fight in Pathfinder aren't going to be particularly scared just because you hit them. They don't want to die, obviously, but that's the normal, healthy amount of fear to have during a battle. With a fear rune, they'll be magically forced to be scared beyond that normal amount.
I love all King Oogatonton videos!
This system makes pathfinder sound sick, im gonna be gming for the first time using p2e, your videos really sold me on p2e.
Your videos have really become a useful learning tool for me and my group. Very well explained in very short time.
Great to see you expand on the old video
This actually makes understanding staves and wands a whole lot easier! Thanks!
A good basic rule for what makes an item invested is: if you don't need a hand to use it's magic, it's invested. If you do need a hand, or it's a consumable, it's not invested.
You are the best, this is great and helpful, thank you
You've got to release some of your campaign audio. I'd definitely listen to them!
You can actually use any number of apex items, investiture slots and gold reserves permitting. It's just that you only get the apex ability bonus from one!
This was excellent, i've been lightly playing 2e for a long time and never even paid attention to a staff and how it works, can be somewhat complicated i see
These videos are so friggin helpful. Thank you!!
Staves, wands and other focus should allow for rune for spellcasting XD
5:30 😆
All hail the king!
Obligatory first (as a beginner thank you!)
thanks
A comment for the algorithm!
What about spellhearts?
Yib bibble
Yeah, definitely be careful with that spell...
Be carefull with high lvl scrolls...
But most crafting only takes 1 day now.
I personaly dont like how wands work in pathfinder since it doesnt really fit on the fantasy of what a wand is to the average person so I usally just let players flavor their staffs as wands.
clearly, you mean 'staves'
