Greetings from Finland and wellcome to Scandinavia. As a tip for birds, it is worth offering nuts and peeled sunflower seeds on cold winter days. These are so that the birds' energy is not expended in opening the shells but can use all their energy to stay warm. Grease sticks can also be found in local shops. After the nuts, the squirrels are happy to visit the bird boards in the winter. 21.12 is winter solstice when is the shortest day of the year. After that, we are on our way to the light again.

I like your videos so much. The great pictures you take, but also your calm way of speaking, the joy you express, the landscape ... this is for me in my big city life like balm for the soul. THANK YOU!
Love your videos! The music is a perfect compliment and I enjoy watching how you are filmed, living as wild life photographer. I'm an artist and all artists often get to begin their training by taking basic photography classes. I'm an old timer,.....and we began our training with actual "film" cameras,....& the most primitive models. The point was to learn how to pick the best shots, and knowing you only had 12 chances to capture the best shots, you crop and edit in the viewfinder. It is a great exercise to learn patience and how to really "see". Your videos bring a wonderful sense of calm with them. I enjoy seeing how you capture the elements,.....the snow, the wind, and all the nature. Hats off to the cinematographer who is filming you.

Just caught your vid. I too live in the wilds of Sweden, When I grew up , Ospreys were rare and protected. I was rowing across a not very big lake, near Gavle and there were 2 osprey nests in trees on small islands. The place is rotten with relatively rare ( in UK) wildlife. 3 years ago, we had a hard winter. Thee wolves came down from the mountains. quite a lot of dogs went missing overnight. There was the remains of a deer in the field next to where I have my house. Hang peanuts. you will get more woodpeckers. Nice video.
I really enjoy your video, wildlife is so richness of emotions and so beautiful to observe. Winter is my favorite season, it is so peaceful . Your are living in a wonderful country I really love. Thanks again for the moment.
I live in the Pacific Northwest in WA State, Fircrest, WA specifically. For some reason I have always found that wildlife has never feared me. In fact, squirrels even on first meeting, seem to know me before we even meet. Its not uncommon that a squirrel will come up to me and take a peanut out of my hand even at first meeting. I am fascinated by them. I have an office that has steps leading up to my office entrance that I call out periodically for squirrels and presently have 4 that engage me every day. Thank you so much for posting. Love your content as a first time viewer.
LOVE! Absolutely love your videos! So soothing and makes one appreciate so much of nature! Keep up the great work. You are definitely one of my favorite wildlife photographers. ❤🙌🏼
Wow, a perfect video mix that totally put me in the mood for Xmas (and you have an even more Christmassy video coming up, yay!). I am so jealous. It is my dream to have a small cottage in Northern Sweden when I retire. A Q&A would be great for any hints or tips. Stay safe and thanks for sharing
I do not know how far up north in Sweden you live but after watching your video it is further south than where I live. I live above the Arctic Circle and in Sweden's northernmost city Kiruna and now from 7/12 until 8/1 next year the sun will not be above the horizon in Kiruna. This means that it is light only at 10.00 and it starts to get dark already at 12.30. You got to experience -20 degrees and it's not so cold, in Kiruna we have had the coldest this year -26 degrees. But it will not be so cold anymore, the last time we had really cold in Kiruna was in December 1985 and then it fluctuated for 3 weeks between -35 and -40 degrees. It will not be so cold anymore. Since March 19, 2020, Kiruna had set a snow record and received a total of 325 centimeters of snow during the winter. During the winter here you see some squirrels but all the more of hares, around my area in the city we have 11 hares that are around the houses and they are here all year round. During the summer we have midnight sun and around 03 o'clock at night a ray of sunshine appears in the middle between the houses. On the lawn in front of my kitchen window, all these 11 hares gather to enjoy the morning sun that hits them.
We live on the edge of Lapland, about an hour from Skellefteå airport. The coldest we’ve had is also -26 and it doesn’t feel too bad if you keep moving!!
@@DaniConnorWild I never freeze, partly because I am warm-blooded and then I am trained as a Lapland hunter (Sweden's elite unit in the military), so I am trained in a mountain environment and in snow caves that were shot forward. And to handle cold in icy conditions. People usually freeze when they start shaking and make rapid shallow breaths, you should take and breathe calm deep breaths and exhale calmly. Then the freezing stops and you stop shaking. As I mentioned so when you have -26 it is colder than when it is -26 precisely because of the humid air you have down there, with the cooling factor you then have around -38 and -40 degrees. When Kiruna has -26, it is only -26 then as I mentioned dry air.
Gosh, that video does bring back memories of visiting my sister in Winter in upstate New York. With nothing better to do by day, when everyone else was working, I pointed my camera out of the back window and got not many (but some) great shots of garden birds. That was nearly 20 years, when we were all still using slide film and scanning the result into a computer. I've still got all the processing equipment. I was even using the same 1970s Leica-Novoflex lens that I saw in book by one of my favourite-of-all-time nature photographers - a Dutchman named Fred Hazelhoff. The book was an old one, presumably published in his early days, back in 1982: "Four Seasons of Nature Photography". I thought his images had a soft subtlety, even for the days of Kodachrome, and a reality that no-one else could ever quite capture! I was ever so pleased when my pictures in the snow got anywhere near the quality of his images. I think you're getting pretty close, too - although no-one can ever be as good as the old masters! Thanks for posting the blogs for all to see - I'm really enjoying them. It's an amazing thing to be doing. Good luck!
Your photography is so beautiful I especially love the bull finch....so beautiful with pink and black....we don't have those in the US....enjoying your videos so much!

Thanks Dani, your video made me smile. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work. I also like photographing squirrels and other wildlife. I think Tuffy would be a good name since he has overcome his disability.
Your videos remind me of nature programs on TV when I was a kid. Well produced amazing photography, informative and entertaining. The later years such TV productions have become either over dramatic or much too lecturing. Glad to see someone willing to produce content which leaves me feeling happy with the world instead.
@@DaniConnorWild Thank you for replying! Can you apply for residency from within Sweden or do you have to go back to your home country? Would love to stay updated as you continue through the process 🇸🇪🐿
It is probably more difficult now we have left the EU, but I worked here, decided to stay and no problem.. Pay taxes and contribute, it is easy. May be worth reading THE LOCAL SE, and seeing what you need. Lots of questions and answers, which may help you. Swedish news in English.
Squirrels may not recognise someone they came to in the summer when they see them in winter clothing. Maybe some people think it's better not to call to wild animals but I think it is true with any animal that it seems friendly when someone uses their greetings - if they use greetings. There are jackdaws in Sweden and jackdaws seem to be one of the friendliest of birds. If you call to them, quite likely they will call when they see you. They like it; and a whistle a little like their call tells them you are being friendly. A jackdaw might warn someone if there is danger. With this search, I found a video of a very noisy jackdaw - spoiled, I think: kaja i sverige, ringande Video information: Kajan Sten Cederquist Pockar på uppmärksamheten!

I recently found your channel from the video about moving to Sweden and became an instant subscriber. I can't wait to see everything to come! ❤️ As for a name for the squirrel, I really like the name Tovli. It means snow in the Georgian language. ❄️🇬🇪
I'm loving your videos. Sweden is my second home but I am not fond of winter so these days I only visit summertimes! The very far north (Abisko, etc..) is glorious in August/September. Hiding in the back of my mind, though, is a visit to Jokkmokk for the Sami festival one year..... Also, more relevant to you, your wildlife photos/videos are awesome. Your squirrels are much more interesting than the one I jut saw in the backyard 2 minutes ago. :)

Like seeing your behind the screen shots too. Music is great. All good! Keep it up! You can always do a gear video - camera and clothing.
I think the new squirrel's name should be "Tula" which is what my half Swedish mother would call me. She said it meant "dear little one". Would be a perfect name for this little fellow. Thank you for your videos. They bring me back to my own forest of squirrels when I can't be there with them. Thank you. And I would love to see your kitchen in your cabin. I live to cook in my own cabin in the woods so I'd love to see yours.
How about Flipper. In American vernacular, to flip someone off is to give them the middle finger. It really does look like the little guy is constantly flipping someone off. Oh, and I love the calendar. Every pic is spot on beautiful. Thanks!
The composition of your videos/photography is very good and perfect for your audience at the moment in a world of craziness and worry. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you both.
The Thread Wallet commercial was so interesting and entertaining that I watched the whole thing. :)) And your eyes are so beautiful that I always watch your videos. You are just getting started with your RUclips productions and they are good and I'm sure they will grow in excellence as you gain experience. Photographing feeder birds is a good way to start but as the seasons change and the birds migrate you will want to change environments and pick up a greater variety. You will get tired of photographing the same birds all the time. I know I did. I still feed them and love to watch them but I widened my horizons to wetland birds, waterfowl, herons and all the migrating warblers that come through our area in the spring. Looking forward to your next production.
It’s so nice to sit down with a cuppa coffee and watch your video thank you so much 🇺🇸😍

I’ve had such a long week between work and moving out of a super stressful environment. I have next two days off work but have a lot of pent up frustration still lingering. This video really helped me take a breath and calm down. Thank you so much..
Thanks Dani, your video made me smile. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work. I also like photographing squirrels and other wildlife. I think Tuffy would be a good name since he has overcome his disability.
Thank you so much for all this work. Very nice.
Your videos remind me of nature programs on TV when I was a kid. Well produced amazing photography, informative and entertaining. The later years such TV productions have become either over dramatic or much too lecturing. Glad to see someone willing to produce content which leaves me feeling happy with the world instead.
Would love to hear about what visa you're on, all about the application process -- thank you! Absolutely in love with your channel
Thank you! We’re actually on a tourist visa at the moment so we have to leave after three months. But we’ve applied for a residency.
Dani, congratulations on creating a beautiful mood in your video
-20 C Winter certainly has arrived. Your Calendar arrived too and it's going to make a lovely present 🎁
A wonderful piece of work 👏 👐
So glad you like the calendar John!
-4°Fahrenheit is a bit chilly for me. Another beautiful video. I like that you include yourself in it, along with the spectacular scenery. 🙂
With this search, I found a video of a very noisy jackdaw - spoiled, I think:
kaja i sverige, ringande

Pockar på uppmärksamheten!

Thank you so much 😊
I recently found your channel from the video about moving to Sweden and became an instant subscriber. It's a dream of mine to one day buy a cozy little cottage in Sweden and it's something I'm working hard towards. Just wanted to say how much I love your videos and how calming they are. I can't wait to see everything to come! ❤️
As for a name for the squirrel, I really like the name Tovli. It means snow in the Georgian language. ❄️🇬🇪
You too are welcome here
@@magnusekhall I hope that within the next few years, I will be able to make my dreams a reality! 🥰
Like many others would absolutely love to hear the process of buying a house in Sweden. I've recently come across your channel and just wanted to say I loved your film about the squirrels and can't wait to see more future videos from yourself :) keep up the good work!
Check out Jennifer Carters vlog about buying house.
Beautiful video, so calm yet interesting and inspiring! Thank you!
Great video as usual! Love the snow! Smart taking a pad out. Enjoy hearing your daily living activities to stay warm and shoot. Keep adapting to the circumstances! Like seeing your behind the screen shots too. Music is great. All good! Keep it up! You can always do a gear video - camera and clothing.
What a beautiful poetic video you did make, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for that.
Stunning in every way. Your music choices are ethereal. Thank you.
I love your channel. The northern part of Sweden is my absolute favorite part of the world. I can't wait to go over there again...!!!
Amazing :) You are a great squirrel photographer :) And the winter weather in Sweden is beautiful
Sweden is stunning. Love the frozen snowy landscapes.
The days are really short, nice video :)
wonderful pictures and atmosphere. good editing and excellent choice of music.
your videos are always so calming and wonderful, thankyou!
How about Flipper. In American vernacular, to flip someone off is to give them the middle finger. It really does look like the little guy is constantly flipping someone off. Oh, and I love the calendar. Every pic is spot on beautiful. Thanks!
Thank You for sharing Very interesting.
Spectacular film making.
