I bought a ‘68 C-10 5 lug. I’m in Mansfield TX. The build starts this winter. It does not have a motor or transmission so it’ll be a frame off restoration.
i get a lot of old trucks from hauling cars for places that people are cleaning up i got from a rich ranch a lot of good rigs just to give u an idea one was a 67 rs ss 427 yenko camaro with a 79 4x4 short box in mint condition just needed a new fuel pump and carb cleaned out from sitting for years in a shop
Greetings, it is a beautiful pickup. I have a 67 here in Argentina. Here there is a 6-cylinder engine. There is no v8. I have had that pickup since 67 forma parte de mi vida la diferencia que hay con su pais es que aqui para reparar una pickup cueata muchisimo todo es muy caro los repuestos pero me encanto como quedo simple y bonita
Bro I love it. I have a 69 C20, too. I love the off road look. I always wanted to slam a chevy so I did just that with mine but lately I've been getting an itch for a lifted C20.
I love the '69 front end, and I'm down with all ride heights. This one is pretty much stock, I just stuffed the biggest tires underneath that would fit
Very rad!!! I have a 70 c10 myself… switched out the motor.. lowered it 5” rear 3” in front… rewired the whole thing and now hunting for a 4 speed auto trans… and yes need to put disc brakes on the front… getting there…and like you need to get my wallet ready! 👍💯
Love everything but the wheel/tire setup.. in my opinion, these old trucks look better slammed, but not too low…like 5” off ground, but certainly not lifted or w/ mud tires…but I respect your vision!!
I agree in certain respects. I think the short beds look good low with the right wheels/tires, but the long beds look terrible lowered or with too small of tires. I used to have a '72 4x4 long bed that looked awesome lifted and on 35" tires, but the 2wd long bed is tough to get the look right. I like the way I have this one setup, but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for watching!
That was my original plan actually. It ended up being way more cost effective once I found the 12 bolt and the squarebody front subframe for way cheaper than a front disc conversion kit and a posi unit for the eaton rear end. I was planning on steelies and fat tires either way though, it's my favorite look. Thanks for watching!
Oh, it's cool! I just got a C-20, and I'm doing almost the same suspension and drivetrain changes you made. Except that I'm going from a leaf spring set up to arms with coils.
@@rowdy3837 It's coming along. I am about to get it running in the next week or two. Everything takes longer than I thought it was going to, so I decided to do it all at once. Short bed conversion, leaf spring to coils, drop spindles and lower springs 2.5/4 , changed to a 12 bolt rear end, disc brakes all around, hydroboost, headers and new exhaust and electric fans. Also along the way I cleaned and painted everything that I could. I was lucky that it was a truck from the desert, so there was no rust, just black widows and hornet nests in all the wrong places. Good luck with your build, I wish I had a 454 in mine, but the 350 is running strong, so I don't want to mess with it right now.
Beautiful REAL Truck Blake! She harkens back to days before plastic, fiberglass, ecm's, sensors, man buns and political correctness. I'll be looking for a 67-72 myself soon. Too old to wrench on em anymore, just gonna buy it turn key. Good luck to you!
Phase 2 kind of got put on the back burner. I just moved to Utah for a new job and had to leave the C10 behind with some family for a little bit. It's on the long list of things to get done though, thanks for watching!
Thanks! These are Wheel Vintiques, they're made with the hubcap nubs. I love the steelie/dogdish look but wanted some wider than stock. They're great, but a little pricey
Hah you're right! I think I found the chrome ones on ebay, and the white ones on the 67-72 chevy truck forums. Gotta always be looking and a deal will pop up from time to time
Thanks dude! I used a green scotch brite pad and some Comet. It's basically a mild abrasive that takes the top oxidized layer off of the old single stage paint.
Comet and a scotchbrite pad. It didn't turn the rust black, but scrubbed off the top oxidized layer exposing that black primer underneath. This trick only works on old single stage paint, nothing with a modern clear coat
Blake, you do very nice work. I like the shock absorber modification. I was wondering if you could send me the paint code number its inside the glove box on the top of the SPID I am repainting a 67 C-20 but the paint code is not legible the number May start with ( 045 _ _ _ ) Thanks in advance Pete
i love the truck! did you use just standard c20 replacement springs or the heavy duty ones? also do you remember the offset of your wheels front and back?
Thanks! I used C10 springs, C20's would've been pretty stiff. The offset of those Wheel Vintiques is close to 0, I can't remember off the top of my head though, sorry
I think i used some VHT frame/axle paint just in a spray can. I first wire wheeled/sand papered it down, then used a coat or two of primer below that though
Fishing, canoeing, and old farm trucks. You’re welcome in my garage any time my friend. Subscribed.

I drove a 1972 for around 4 years. I miss old blue!
The patina on front looks absolutely amazing!
Super sharp C10!
Thanks Joe!
Beautiful Project. Informative & creative vid ..Thanks for sharing👍
Looking very good. Hurry up and finish so we can get the '53 Chevy up and running.
That truck cleaned up great
Very nice truck. lets see phase II
Man that thing is perfect. I love it.
I had the exact same truck in white back in the mid 90's. LOVED THAT TRUCK!!!

I think I saw this exact truck on Facebook marketplace earlier this week but could just be a coincidence either way this truck is awesome
Must be a twin, I don't plan on selling this one! Thanks for watching!
That’s a dope truck
Looks great!
I like your truck looks good nice job , I add a front sway-bar big difference in handling.
Great truck! Love the patina
dang that is cool ive got 2 old chevys
Love the truck. Congrats!

That truck looks badass with those wheels and tires!!!Great job
Thanks 👍
Nice! Just got me a ‘69 C10 project truck… front brake conversion 1st project. Absolutely love these 2nd gen Chevy trucks!!!
Nicely done 😮😮
Very very cool, I want one. Good job on the video as well. Subscribing now.
Nice job man. My dads 67 was just like this one.
Thanks! Your dad sounds like a man of good taste
I love me my ‘69 C10! Your C20 is great!
Super cool!
Nice work, Blake! Lookin’ good! Can’t wait for part 2.
Thanks buddy!
Beautiful! I wish I had found an original paint truck.
That is beautiful darn very nice
They are cool. I have a 68 C20 in Ohio. It was a yard truck in Seattle. Looked a lot like yours same color.
Perfection!!! The only thing I'd personally change is to show that white lettering on the tires. Great job.
I’ve got a 69, by far my favorite restoration. Must be why I kept it 😂 cool truck man.
‘71 other then that, same here
Go for restore then consider a custom job.
I've had my 68 C10 for 33 years!

That is a bad ass truck - love the tires, make the truck look very tough, great find....
Love It! I've had mine for 35 years!
That's a real cool truck
I personally would have stayed 8 lug but that’s me. I love the look with the wheel and tire combo.
That was my original plan actually. Looks great ...I to have a C10 1967
Oh, it's cool! I just got a C-20, and I'm doing almost the same suspension and drivetrain changes you made. Except that I'm going from a leaf spring set up to arms with coils.
Awesome! The coil spring trucks ride super smooth, I'm still stoked on all the upgrades I did. Good luck with your build!
How’s that c20 build coming? I’m just starting a 69 c20 with a 454.

I understand that this is two years old but I have a 68 that I got from AZ and I live in Northern California
Good job!!
Your build is great! One of the reasons I got a ‘71 was because it was the first year of disc brakes
Thanks! I've had a '72 and the factory discs were a big selling point. Not too hard of a swap though on these earlier trucks
Very nice .
Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
You killed it. Great job!

You do very good work. I want to do this to my 72 we degreased and pressure washed the undercarriage but still alot of Dirt and grime.
Thank you, it's a ton of work as I'm sure you know! Worth it though
I'll be receiving my '68 in 2 days...I better hurry up and get me a mess of tatoos!
Awesome truck and great work! What brand wheels are those? And did the factory caps just pop on or had to add clips?
Thanks! These are Wheel Vintiques, they're made with the hubcap nubs. I love the steelie/dogdish look but wanted some wider than stock. They're great, but a little pricey
Love the truck. When is part 2?
Thanks! Part 2 got put on hold for now, life gets in the way of projects sometimes
Am a fan! Great Work! Have a 69 and love the thing.
Nice. Where the heck did you find the dog dishes? I need some like those bad but ones I do find they people want crazy money.
Hah you're right! I think I found the chrome ones on ebay, and the white ones on the 67-72 chevy truck forums. Gotta always be looking and a deal will pop up from time to time
Hey I have a 1967 C-10 . It's got a crate engine , 4 bble Elderbrock , dual exhaust . It's running , and needs love . Make me an offer ! Maranatha !
Awesome truck man!! Love where it's going! What did you use to get the paint looking good again?
Thanks dude! I used a green scotch brite pad and some Comet. It's basically a mild abrasive that takes the top oxidized layer off of the old single stage paint.
What is the stuff you washed it with/prepped before rinsing to turn the rust black yet save the paint?
Comet and a scotchbrite pad. It didn't turn the rust black, but scrubbed off the top oxidized layer exposing that black primer underneath. This trick only works on old single stage paint, nothing with a modern clear coat

@@DoubleArrow Thank you
Great find! Love the patina on this old green truck. Forgive my ignorance, but is th ecab and bed the same size on the 3/4 ton as the 1/2?
Thanks! And yeah, all the sheet metal is the same, the differences are only in the chassis which is why I was able to swap 1/2 ton parts in there.
finooooo !!!!
Dang !
9:00 what did you put of the truck? Baking soda?
Comment above said Comet and a green scotch bright pad.
Where's part 2?
It's in the works, I hit a financial speedbump that made me push it back a little bit.
Truck is looking great I have a 69 c20 what front clip did you use. Thanks
Thanks! It was from a squarebody, not sure of the year but probably mid/late 70's
i love the truck! did you use just standard c20 replacement springs or the heavy duty ones? also do you remember the offset of your wheels front and back?
Thanks! I used C10 springs, C20's would've been pretty stiff. The offset of those Wheel Vintiques is close to 0, I can't remember off the top of my head though, sorry
What brand of tires, nice tread design.
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT, 33" x 12.50" x 15
@@DoubleArrow
Thank you.
Did you download your route to your gps for the CDR trail? How did you figure that out
Yep, I found it on advrider . com. There are several routes to choose from and those guys are the greatest resource, super helpful
Hell is this truck sitting stock height? I have a 84 c10 sitting stock wondering if these wheels will fit like this on my truck. Nice machine 👌
Yep stock height. I don't know as much about squarebodies but I'd be willing to bet you could fit 33"s with the right wheel size/spacing
@@DoubleArrowThank you
What did you paint the frame and axles with?
I think i used some VHT frame/axle paint just in a spray can. I first wire wheeled/sand papered it down, then used a coat or two of primer below that though
does anybody know what he used to get the rust off of the body?
Comet and a green Scotchbrite pad. Only works on old single stage paint, but it works great in the right situation
When u you painted the frame what did use
I used a primer then VHT chassis/rollbar paint
What did you put on there before you sanded it? It looked like a powder
Comet
@@DoubleArrow what does that do
Why are the white letters on the tires inside 😢
Had herd time hearing music drowning you out .
Thanks for the feedback, I'm always trying to get better with my edits and this one is a little rough around the edges haha

Not a restore. You want a custom rebuild, o.k. but, not a restore.
Restoration. Not a “restore”. You should’ve said restoration, o.k. not a “restore”.
